Ha! I just wrote an essay on that film. Most depressing essay of my life. Turns out postmodern society sucks balls.

Re: 06

[identity profile] salem-saori.livejournal.com 2008-05-23 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I would really love to read that :O

I've been told the same by my friends and family: Faeries aren't real, Neverland doesn't exist, and it's time for you to stop with you're obsession.

I'm 19, and I still believe. I don't want to grow up for real (yet), and forget my beliefs. I'm not ready.

[identity profile] rhosyn-du.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
50. Feh. Growing up is overrated. You might have to learn how to fake the "grown-up" thing sometimes, but actually growing up is totally optional. I promise.

74. Minekura is the reason that I not only don't have squicks anymore, but also regularly read and write about things that used to make me kind of queasy to think about.

78. Oh my god. Coupland is amazing. I haven't read that one, yet, but what I have read of his work has totally rocked my world.

[identity profile] wishmasterfuuma.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
63. If I could draw, there would be more crack.

If I wasn't afraid of people taking my jokes seriously and trying to debate with me, I'd prolly say more about the characters.

Talk to me on AIM, if you want. We say a lot more there. Mine is the same as my journal name.

[identity profile] sixteen-letters.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
54. Holy sudden nostalgia attack, there. I had completely forgotten about that movie; I watched it obsessively as a kid. ... But I cannot, for the life of me, remember what it was about. I just remembered the cover. D:

N!S 1

[identity profile] not-unwise.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
There is no fandom even though the books are amazing because they are finished. For real. Completely done with.

They are now officially a bunch of trees.

I personally don't want to write or read about a bunch of trees :D

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
11. It's nice to know that show doesn't have the same effect on everyone. Every time I try to watch it, my OCD flairs like nobody's business. :/

50. I'm turning 20 this year, and I still die a little every night Peter Pan doesn't come to my window. D:

54. ROCK A DOODLE!!!! *faint* That is one of the best movies ever, no question. :DD

56. Hmm, that would explain my habit of personifying, too. I was already afraid of clowns though. That part still gives me chills. D:

77. Yeeeeeeeeah, me too.

SCARY?

why is it scary? people like what they like, and taking other people's preferences for slash personally enough to be frightened by them is, frankly, stupid.

if you're scared of slash fandom then i suggest you grow a fucking spine, stop worrying about what other people like, stick up for yourself, write your own het fic, and quit blaming the prevalence of slash for your own internal weakness.

04. I love MSTing. :3

16. The MST3K secrets today are making me seriously happeee.

20. t.A.T.u MAKES me wanna be a lesbian.

26. For such a long time I thought Orko (I really hope that's spelled right) was just a Black Mage in general.

56. OMG Brave Little Toaster FUCK YEAH. That movie has owned my soul since I was 3 years old. D: <3

71. There's a Tokyo Mew Mew GAME? WANT PLZ.

77. The new FOP episodes are good but srsly, Cosmo m-preg is DO NOT WANT. Whut the hell were they THINKING. Canon m-preg in a kid's cartoon is not cool, man. Nickelodeon, no, ANY network at that, needs to NOT FEED INTO the fangirl fetishes. Kthnxbai.

37

(Anonymous) 2008-05-22 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
So it's not the slash that bothers you, but the fact that your pairings aren't getting enough attention? Cry moar.

not secret no. 2

Not Secret No 2

WAT o_O

[identity profile] srsfnbsns.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
33. Sometimes you just need a break from the "grown up" world.

37. F_S is an exaggerated look at fandom full of trolls and exaggerated secrets. Anyone who's taking is seriously needs to step away from the computer. Fandom Secrets =/= SRS BSNS!

45. Well, if you think about it that's the role that gave him horrible nightmares and insomnia that he was medicating himself for. It's kind of the role that killed him. I think that alone makes it worth seeing to get an idea of why it was so haunting.

61. XD

72. ..........

74. I never liked his incest.

74 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-05-23 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't say that I liked his incest, though there is something about the way his relationship with Kanan is portrayed that I can really appreciate. It was rather that I really liked him as a character, and it's undeniable that his relationship with Kanan is a huge part of who he is. I liked him and sympathised with him too much to let the incest squick me, and then... well, it kind of went from there. Not that I could ever say in real life that I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with incest.

Too Big #1

[identity profile] pantime.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man oh man, i rewatched Treasure Planet for the first time in God knows how many years a few months ago and holy shit i loved it just as much as i did when i saw it for the first time.
I...i love that movie so much ): I still remember seeing it at the cinema ghfjdlsgjhfdsjghfg actually brb i'm going to go and watch it again.

[identity profile] boogiepop-nagi.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
02. Don't we all? She's fucking awesome, dude!

10. FOR SERIOUS! And not only does creating original characters defeat the purpose of appreciating the show's existing content, but it restricts the creativity of the person creating original characters. I was working for a long time on a Gundam fanfiction using all original characters, and was struggling to make it interesting while keeping it in line with what's considered "proper Gundam." That is, until I realized there was no point in calling it a Gundam fanfiction when only the robots were remaining intact, and I scrapped all the Gundam trappings and made it an original story. Doesn't even take place in space anymore.

Now the creativity's coming in waves, and I feel like I'm making real progress for the first time in years. :D

11. I THINK I NEED TO START WATCHING MONK. FELLOW OCD SUFFERER HERE IN NEED OF A LITTLE BOOST. 8D;;

18. YOU. ARE. AWESOME. FOR SERIOUS, FUCKING HIGH FIVE.

37. He has a point. Most of my favored pairings are het and yuri, and I've had yaoi fans well outside of F!S call me (among other nasty things) a freak for not accepting and worshipping their yaoi pairings. I think the people on here calling #37 a homophobe really need to back off, because all you're really doing is proving him/her right, pretty much. Het fans like #37 and myself do feel rather browbeaten in certain fandoms because the yaoi fans do get extremely overzealous and (dare I say) even outright heterophobic at times. Discrimination within fandoms is a two-way street, and lately it seems like one lane's been given an unrestricted green light.

45. I feel bad because Heath Ledger;s Joker was originally the main reason I wanted to see the movie (even before he died). But after seeing Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent in the trailers, I've almost forgotten about the Joker and am EAGERLY AWAITING his Two-Face. Sorry Heath. :(

69. I'll agree with you as far as the new movies' portrayal seems much more grounded and realistic, but I still maintain that TV Shinji was a little too neurotic to be taken seriously.

72. ... This IS a troll, right?

79. Could be worse. You could be furry for Cairne.

42. Don't worry about it. Sniper Wolf is fucking hot. Besides, what's wrong with being bi? You get the best of both worlds. There's more to it than Tila Tequila. ;P

50. I'm the same. But you can stay young at heart and still have responsibilities, you know. It's why I work at theme parks. :D

52. YES. ;O; Jar Jar was my hero when I first saw that movie.

27) I have injured my wrist playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band too much. It is a badge of honor. A terrible, nerdy badge of honor.

33) LUSTER, BRING ME HOME

42) Everyone is bi for Sniper Wolf.

54) ROCK-A-DOODLE IS THE BEST FUCKING MOVIE EVER. EVER. EV-ER.

Richard Dawkins, evolutionary biologist and outspoken atheist. Who has never pretended to be a philosopher to my knowledge, so I'm not quite sure where the OP is coming from.

42) Naw, you're just Otacon

[identity profile] hopelikefever.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Or there is a possibility for a three-way with Otacon.

This situation is just win-win all around. Doesn't MGS1 take place right around now, anyway? 2014... Nine years before... Aw, shit, that was when I graduated high school.

[identity profile] gazzafizza06.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw #54 and was instantly reminded of how scared I was of that movie. The owl terrified me so much that I blacked out the experience and only remembered it years later. I can never appreciate the happy/sad bits of the movie that everyone else talks about, because, like n!s #5 said, it still gives me nightmares.

They're both damn amazing songs, and now that you mentioned it... they DO go together quite nicely. Now I can't watch the openings in peace. Damn.
