What fandom opinions do you hold that will never change?

(Anonymous) 2017-11-22 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Can be about fandom events/opinions, canon events, or out of universe stuff (like with actors and creators).

Ron and Hermione will never work without a whole lot of counseling and both of them changing a whole lot. Also, the Trio is best together.

Buffy as a character is underrated and get judged way too much by the fandom.

I would totally love to have a father like Giles.

Tolkien is so much better when you've at least read the SImarillion. Getting a better sense of the whole world makes LOTR and even the Hobbit way more interesting.

Legend of the Seeker deserved at least one more season.

The How I Met Your Mother final is the worst tv final ever.

How I Met Your Mother or Dexter. Hard to say.

I definitely agree on Ron and Hermione, and Tolkien. Reading the Silm explains a lot fo little passing things that appear in LotR, and at least the Gondolin reference in The Hobbit. (I only really give that because I feel that was the only significant connector in The Hobbit, since it was kinda early in the published history, while the connection were far more solid in LotR.)

Grissom and Sara were terrible for each other. It made sense they divorced and their second chance is going to fail too.

Elisa Maza is the best Disney Princess.

The Jedi were not perfect but the fall of the Republic wasn't really their fault.

Snape's hair? WACK. His gear? WACK. His jewelry? WACK. His footstance? WACK. The way that he talks? WACK. The way that he doesn't even like to smile? WACK.

Harry and Ginny feed off the petty, childish parts of each other and together they won't grow into the generous, magnanimous couple that Arthur and Molly is.

I tend to never switching my ships sexually. Some people are just hotter as bottoms.

Cassie Claire is a horrible person.

Xander was the worst character on Buffy.

The epilogue for Digimon's second season never happened.

Harry and Ginny were good, and Ron and Hermione were good, and no permutation of the central Harry Potter characters would be more romantically satisfying.

Remus and Sirius should have been canon.

Remus and Tonks shouldn't have died.

Re: What fandom opinions do you hold that will never change?

(Anonymous) 2017-11-22 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Dawn, Connor and Jasmine were horrible characters and ruined the shows for me.

Turning Dukat into Teh Devvil was retarded.

Pratchett should have quit writing when he was still able to do the writing himself.

Re: What fandom opinions do you hold that will never change?

(Anonymous) 2017-11-22 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Bella and Jacob should have ended up together.

Yuno Gasai is one of the worst characters ever. Not only is she annoying but she was also so fucking boring.

Layla and Jamie's relationship ruined X-Factor.

Steve Rogers was right in Civil War. If I had never seen any of the movies, I'd think Tony was right. But as someone who has seen the movies, Steve is 100% right and Tony is an idiot and hypocrite.

-Why would anyone trust any governmental body to be in charge of the Avengers? Like, every other group that has been in charge of the Avengers has turned out evil.

-They bring up the body count from various events (Battle of New York, Sokovia [which was basically his fault], the Helicarrier crashes, the mission at the beginning of Civil War) as if it is a compelling argument. They amount to around 300 people killed. as opposed to you know, THE WHOLE FUCKING WORLD.

-Tony is for the accords because he is guilt tripped by a woman whose son died. What does he do? Recruit a minor and takes him across the world to fight in a battle without getting his guardian's permission.

-He kicks Bucky in the face (in suit) when Bucky is basically incapacitated.

-He was there when Bucky was taken in. So he knows that Bucky was going to be taken away (or killed) without a trial or due process.

And the most annoying.
-He argues that they can sign the Accords now and work to change them later. YOU ARE A BUSINESSMAN, WHY WOULD YOU EVER ARGUE THIS??? THIS IS WHY YOU NEED PEPPER TO BABYSIT YOU!

The Digimon epilogue was unnecessary but the pairings were fine. Sora/Matt always made more sense than Sora/Tai. It doesn't matter that TK and Kari didn't end up together because they were awful, flat characters anyway.

Hook should've died in season 3 of Once Upon a Time. Once's showrunners can't actually write a show anywhere but into the ground.

Loki and Sigyn legitimately loved and adored each other. 'Spineless, nagging wife Sigyn who Loki hates/abuses' is right up there with 'Hades as Greek Satan' as really shitty interpretations/tropes that belong in the trashcan!

This is mainly a myth verse opinion, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't bleed into every other verse that has these characters.

Regarding Danny Phantom

-Spectra should have been a bigger villain I feel like her first appearance was great but her second made her into a joke when she could have been used well through the rest of the series as a 'serious business' villain.

-Danny/Sam could have been pulled off well . In canon it was not. It's not an issue of hating the ship, it's an issue of writing.

-If they're monsters from another dimensions , why keep giving them plausible human deaths. Word of Butch is a mess

-Vlad could have been a vampire without getting too far into the occult. Its a valid choice not to make him one, but I believe there was possibility there. That's just me though.

-Klemper is annoying as fuck. He always was

-Sam didn't need mind control to be pulled to joining Undergrowth. She's only been loudly and sometimes hypocritically and obnoxiously championing for environmental causes through the whole show. Making her mind controlled into joining was a bit of a cop out.

-Now regarding Butch Hartman

The fandom war was a good part his fault. I feel like he mismanaged the official fan board in a way that was just irresponsible. His mods were banning people for stuff off board and on one occasion spread a rumor without actual proof of an r34 artist being a convicted sex offender to justify making a glorified blacklist of his watchers.

I mean, I just believe that as the presiding adult he had a responsibility to thoroughly investigate claims like that and if false , maybe do something about it. Other wise your telling these teenagers "hey, it's totally okay to start rumors about people being felons and spread them around fandom if you think I would disapprove of their art." Like r34 or not, it's kind of a principle thing for me. because if you tell them it's okay in that instance, you're kind of enabling them to do it again.

-I honestly believe that Steve Marmel's vision for Danny Phantom's future was better than Hartmans. I feel a little bad because it was Hartman's show but.. it became deeper and better in away that Hartman, I feel , wasn't able to really work well with. he does good in comedy. lightly comedic action show with loads of emotional depth? I don't think so.(also romance.. dear lord no)

- Not having Marmel is a small part of the reason for season 3's suckiness.

-Finding out he supported Trump was a huge disappointment for me. By his show he seems to hate rich assholes. Trump is the ultimate rich asshole.

I really think Peter Capaldi is autistic and wasn't diagnosed. Autism varies in people and his traits may be arranged in such a way that he makes them work for him.

People who grow up undiagnosed learn to mask their "weirdness" so they don't stand out, or may go their whole lives not realizing, but other autistic people tend to spot it. Stories he told about his early life point to it, too. He had a fireman's hat that he wore all the time when he was really young (like under age ten), he burned all of his nerdy stuff as a teen because he was bullied severely for it (even teachers encouraged it!!!) and he felt "physically stupid" any time he tried to play sports. He indicates he never really fit in anywhere and that's just reaaaaaaal familiar to how I felt pre-diagnosis. (late diagnosed adult here!)

I always thought Anthony Hopkins was autistic too. He gives off this vibe that he's different in some way, and it turns out I'm right. He was diagnosed late in adulthood too. http://www.desertsun.com/story/life/entertainment/people/brucefessierentertainment/2017/01/02/westworld-star-anthony-hopkins-explores-consciousness/96018744/?from=global

Peter Capaldi honestly has the same vibe as Anthony Hopkins. The way he moves and sometimes how he talks seems practiced yet awkward. I think the man is autistic and doesn't have a clue because he got lucky enough that he chose a lifestyle where his traits don't get in his way so much. Watch how he moves his hands and body during interviews when he's not being a character, and he seems so uncomfortable in his skin. But give him a role to play and he shines.

Another autistic person follow brought this up on Tumblr and they got attacked so bad by Capaldi's super rabid fans that this person will not discuss it anymore because they were almost blocked by everybody they liked to reblog PCap pics from. It was awful.

Autism can make someone's life really hard, but sometimes their traits aren't external, or they make their issues work in their favor. And honestly? What makes autism harder isn't usually the autism itself, it's other people not respecting the sensory issues, communication needs or even seeing the competence in people who can't talk at all.

The Babylon 5 Finale "Sleeping in the Light" is by far the best series finale I have ever seen in my life and nothing has topped it yet.

I still cry when I watch it 20 years later.

Sakura deserved better. She and Kakashi are so a thing and Boruto doesn't exist.

House and Wilson got together after season 4.

Rey is a Skywalker.

Sheldon and Penny get together after season 4. Amy fucks off.

Ron and Hermione never get married and Harry realizes that Luna is the best person ever. Ginny who?

Logan and Rogue are a thing, he lives after the events of Logan (a la that deadpool thing), Rogue was the person across the border who was guiding fledgling mutants. ROGUE WASN'T DEAD.

The Jedi were at fault for at least 70% of their down fall. And how Anakin fell. Anakin DID make that choice, but they treated him like shit.
