Because yeah, if you're using stuff like "antidisestablishmentarianism" at the drop of a hat then maybe they have a right to complain, but if it's just ordinary longish words... the author shouldn't be held accountable for a limited vocabulary in their audience, unless they're specifically writing for children. That's definitely not a shortcoming on your part.

I would be proud to use "antidisestablishmentarianism" in a story :D But it's nothing like that -- the complaints I receive are usually about words like "disseminate" and I don't know what else. I have used "methylenedioxymethamphetamine" in a fic once, but it was in a very specific context.

142. I like anime/manga precisely because of this. Monster/Villain of the week plots have always made me want to smash my head against the wall, and I always tend to skip over the single-episode plots to get to the myth-arc revelevant stuff when I watch Western shows, or read Western comics. Obviously, different people enjoy different ways of storytelling.

And I can't help but laugh at your assertion that the anime style of storytelling is any more or less riddled with plot holes than any other medium. If the one-plot-per-volume format was so flawless, then there would never have to be the sheer number of retcons and retools that occur within most Western comics. Hate to burst your bubble.

145. Somebody doesn't read very many fandom!secrets, because I assure you that you are very much not alone. I happen to like (not love) that series for the melodrama that it is, but it's certainly not gonna be everyone's cup of tea.

140. I think Rip's the weakest female character in Hellsing (and one of the weakest characters in general). Her existence is purely Hirano's wank fest (ok... most of Hellsing is but hers is even a special case) since she's pretty much the sum of his fetishes. She shows up and gets beated up/raped/eaten to add a spice of Hirano's former hentai fantasies. She was promising but all her so called "potential" never lived up the fanon perception of her (that fapped for AGES how "special" and "real" vampire she was).

140. ADLAKDJFALK RIIIIP VAN WIIIIINKLE. ♥ I adore Hellsing mainly for it's female characters, and Rip is definitely one of my favorites (next to Seras). Her whole character design and personality are just so intriguing and gorgeous. :]

142. Um... you do realize that none of this is anime or manga's fault. It's indirectly your fault. If you're that narrow-minded to only look for a long-running and interesting plot line, and you fail to find that, OF COURSE YOU'RE GOING TO BE DISAPPOINTED. Open your horizons! Look at more than just the plot! Look at the characters, the possible future plot points, the art style, the genre, LOOK AT THE WHOLE PICTURE. This is like someone going into an art gallery and only has their eyes set on finding a piece of artwork using pencils. Just because you don't find what you're looking for doesn't mean that what's there is worth jack shit. You just don't know how to appreciate things for all that they can give.

Plus, seriously, it can't be that hard to look for multiple plot lines in anime or manga. There is ALWAYS something that stretches from the main plot that you can catch and hold onto. A side story, filler, new characters, etc.

158. OH MY GOD. Is that what it's called?! There was this little food place in the mall several years ago called 'Mi No Fish' that made fish-shaped cakes out of pancake batter and then filled them with things like cheese and sauce, chocolate, M&Ms... a lot of things I can't think of anymore, it was so long ago. But I've never seen anything else like it and to this day, my friend and I miss it! In fact, we were just talking about it over the weekend.

I have to find a place that does this. Thank you SO MUCH for giving the name, anon. Had I known it was an actual culinary practice and not just a random idea someone had, I probably would have found it a long time ago.

142: So, okay. You must hate most western TV shows then too, eh? I know you don't have to buy them if you have cable, but you're basically shitting on long-form story telling in general. I'm currently catching up on Lost, and while that show has divergent plot lines, the majority of the show has one overarching plot -- one that won't be resolved until the series ends.

What about the Harry Potter series? 7 books and one overarching plot.

I don't give two fucks about whether you like anime/manga or not, but your argument is lousy -- long form media is long form media. That's the way it is. It doesn't just happen in anime and manga -- most series take a long time to wrap up. *shrugs* I don't get why you're so angry at anime and manga, when you should be angry at just about every plot-based series ever.

And really, if you hate anime and manga so much, then don't watch/read them. That's probably the best solution, eh?

And dude, what is up with all of the John Malkovich stuff? I adore him, but is he a meme or something I haven't heard about yet?

108. I LOVE Eyeshield, this is not a secret. And I totally agree. Yamato is kinda lame and Taka is yawn worthy(However I like Karin and Heracles). I think this match feels so blah and unemotional is because none of the Deimon players had any history with Teikoku, unlike Oujo and Shinryuji. And the 'rivalries' with Teikoku are just plain boring, since Yamato is TOO NICE and Taka is TOO APATHETIC. That, and I believe Jump is rushing the creators to finish it(I could be making this up!).

115. Ugh, accidental spoilers are the worst. I personally normally like spoilers, so I can keep guessing how/why things happen, especially when I read Harry Potter. I hope you can enjoy the rest of the series without getting spoiled!(spoiler it's really good)

125. I played EBA first, because I couldn't figure out Ouendan's funny moon language instructions, and Ouendan 2 is my favorite of the series...but I still love EBA! There's no reason not to, except for those weirdos who like certain things better because they are in JAPANESE. Tards.

There's an artist/writer I semistalk because I love her stuff, and I've commented on how much I adore her fanfic, and she mentioned that she hardly ever gets comments on it! D: I think that's true for every artist/writer, they never get comments on their fic if they do decent art...at least from what I've seen.
