123) There's more serious conversation going on behind the scenes. While most of my posts and comments on LJ comms tend to be of the "squee" variety, I've had some serious conversations over IM or on personal LJs. I can't speak for everybody else, but when it comes to those topics, I tend to deal better with one on one, or relatively private convos. It feels more personal, and I can go into more depth.

128: Trust me, you're not. I live in the US, but I prefer the UK titles. I'd love to see the early HP books re-released with the real title fo the first book, and with the "British-isms" left in (the US publisher was better about keeping them in the later books).

IMO, the relationship handled sensitively (barring Joss' current run) in the comic itself. It's a lot more complicated than "The Lesbian Couple", and sort of disappears for a while, when the characters go off world for an entire arc, though.

123 Why do some of you insist that people are stupid and ill-educated just because they like their show's stars and find them attractive (not JUST physically, but intellectually, too--like, you know, as the people they really are IRL)? I grant you the mindless squee is irritating, but not all of them are like that, and the cross-pollination of mindsets is starting to really get old. Oh, and PLEASE, PLEASE come and bitch at me for generalizing because I'm responding to your generalization of 'I can't help but wonder how WELL EDUCATED the people involved in fandoms REALLY ARE.'

This whole secret reeks of self-hatred, to me. You're 'revolted,' you refer to all fandoms and all people who participate in them, yet you cling to the hope that there are other people out there (like me, incidentally) who don't see fandom as solely about objectifying the source material. Make up your mind? Clarify your language? Something?

136 It's fair to say that true talent can be overlooked if the material it is producing hits trigger issues for people. I am confused about this secret, though--are you condemning people for not sitting through being preached at because the preaching is presented by talented musicians? I would equally avoid other trigger issues like rape or child abuse if that's what they were singing about.

Just because religion is an acceptable topic for performance material doesn't mean it's something everyone is equally interested in, not does it mean there's something fundamentally (lol) wrong with the people who aren't interested.
