Oh yes. <3 Yaaaay. I love doing that too.

UM LOL.
HE IS SO NOT THAT GORGEOUS.
SERIOUSLY. NO.

THANK YOU! Glad to hear I'm not alone in holding that opinion. The characters in the manga have always seemed seriously watered down to me, and the plot is kind of loose and disconnected. Don't get me wrong, I don't HATE the manga or anything, but I've always loved the anime while the manga is just... meh.

I've been a fan of 'Doctor Who'/Captain Jack for over a year. I must've seen 'The Producers' six or seven times since it came out. I've never made the connection until RIGHT NOW.

Clearly, I fail at the most basic concepts of life. :]

Yep. Same. (One of the same fandoms, too!)

142 - Not my OTP, but they are my second favorite. >3

155 - ...I'm just gonna sit here and chuckle. Oh Steve...

158 - Another half-Asian like me? Neat. Dunno if I agree with the casting on that basis, but meh.

Yes, he is!
*loves him*

[identity profile] elfinpiper.livejournal.com 2008-07-19 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
155. BWAAH me too!! (But What's-his-face on Ghost in a Shell, who has Tai's voice, freaked me out the worst, because of how *different* they were.)

120

[identity profile] chibi-scriber.livejournal.com 2008-07-19 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Will say this off the bat. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally I like the manga myself, but if you like the anime that's your choice and perfectly fine.

However. Anime people can be just as fanatical as manga people. That's the way it is for everything. For every asinine battle there is out there, both sides always have crazy people.

Second--you really seem to be coming down hard on Arakawa and you should remember that without her there wouldn't be an FMA anime either. There would be no FMA anything.

Third. There is a remake in the works that will follow the manga. Yes. Ling will be animated.

And the same to you!

[identity profile] coolceruleanblu.livejournal.com 2008-07-19 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
128. I agree with the Harry Potter- I think Philosopher's Stone was much better. But I think Golden Compass fits with the other two books better- cause it's each one of his dark materials.

[identity profile] anthraxpretzels.livejournal.com 2008-07-19 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
151. 'Flawed Ideal' kinda contradicts itself, doesn't it?

(Anonymous) 2008-07-19 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not the OP, but I don't think it contradicts itself at all. She is an ideal in the sense that she is perfect love interest for the main character who sits around waiting to be rescued most of the time. I'm assuming the OP found that ideal to be flawed for reasons that should be understandable.

WTH2: Why isn't the Mr Blobby and Noel Edmunds "I ship it" a secret. You've got stacks of human x human i ship its and all those dumb "I'd bang it" secrets. Admitting you want Mr Blobby to have a relationship with anyone os pretty embarrassing. I don't get it.

128:In Oz we use the English titles and spellings.

120, 153

[identity profile] dots.livejournal.com 2008-07-19 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
120. I agree! The manga is quite ... yeahhhh um no. Not my cup of tea, thanks. And yet people get pissed when I say that.

153. I agree also! I don't get it, actually. How can someone playing a character poorly change how you think of that character? Write it off as the player being bad. Don't blame the character for shit that they never did in canon. And don't blame the writers for stuff they never wrote!

[identity profile] arwydd.livejournal.com 2008-07-19 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
113 - I could not agree more with this secret! DDR is by far the best!

125 - Oh dude, I would love to cosplay a Halo character - the armor would be a bitch, though! As for tips, hm... well, I use a mix of foam core poster board and camping foam, with liberal amounts of spray pain, then elastic with velcro attached to keep all the pieces on. That's for my TF costume, but I think it could translate fairly well; they're similar enough. Oh, and hot glue and exacto knives (for the poster board) are your very best friend! Not sure how helpful that is...

118. warlocks ftw. <3

166. i'm with you! tabletop gaming just isn't as fun if you don't love your characters.

103

(Anonymous) 2008-07-19 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
103 I agree, the shows were SO MUCH FUNNIER without the writers.

113

(Anonymous) 2008-07-19 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, techno nerds / people with bad taste in music WOULD think that. :)

Re: 113

(Anonymous) 2008-07-19 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Anon here loves both techno and rock, especially classic rock, but finds DDR more interesting and challenging than Guitar Hero. Sorry to contradict you, anon. :)

118. Nicole? ;__;

121. I miss Gert.

156. Me too. I enjoyed Golden Army and the casting was flawless. I still don't like Bale as Batman. I'll make a valid opinion when I see DK, though.

158. At least she'll be casted as a character with the ability to fight, unlike being casted as a small town damsel in distress who randomly turns into this huge kung-fu, perfect gunmanship queen. Ugh Smallville. UGH.

162. STAR WARS WEDDINGS ARE THE BEST. I want one. :(

I miss fandom giving a shit about Gert.

162. I keep hinting to my fiance as a joke that we should get married at Celebration V. He doesn't know that I think that would be severely awesome and wonderful. But our families would kill us too! D:

don't be afraid to follow your dreams. the internet folks can be harsh at times but they can also offer you valuable information about your target audience, about what works and what doesn't work. you learn quickly how to weed out the trolls and flamers and find the people who really want to help you become a better writer.

that's been my experience. don't give up!

Hey, so long as you're enjoying it, doesn't matter what your reasons are for playing the series. And you're doing research, which is certainly a plus.

There is a site around dedicated to the making of Mjolnir Armor, but I can't remember the sit offhand, and I forgot to bookmark it. Your best bet would probably be asking around the halo.bungie.org forum for tutorials and sites. The link had originally been posted in halo.bungie.org news (if my memory is right) so someone there probably remembers or has the link.

D': we can cling together and cry at the carnage caused by fandom wars? I need more neutrality on my F-list, they either swing one way, or they swing the other!
