151: And of course when she is given the chance to do something, nobody seems to care. For the first game, she didn't do much of anything because she was unconscious - can you blame her for that? Mickey didn't do jack in the first game either despite being such an important character. In the second game she was stuck on the island and then when she was thrown into the middle of a bunch of heartless, she went forth and FOUGHT. Even if it was with a horribly girly keyblade. >_>

Overall, the games could have gone into everyone's backstories and personalities a bit more. Kairi just got the short-end because... she was unconscious or stuck on an island. I'm sure she has her flaws, they just were never able to come out.

I'm not the OP, but saying that Kairi could have flaws that are not seen doesn't mean she actually does. She's a fictional video game character, and all we have to go by is what the game presents to us. And in all three Kingdom Hearts games (six if you could the Final Mixes and Re: Chain of Memories) she is never shown to have any.

Some people here are going to whine about your elitism, but I can certainly see where you're coming from; I've drifted away from most of the fandoms I wanted to participate in because of the type of stuff you're talking about.

I find the situation becomes 1,000x more difficult if you're a woman who really wants to talk about something OTHER than sex/gender (in terms of how most male and some female fans will react). It's not impossible to find welcoming communities--the internet is simply too big and too diverse--but it is harder than it ought to be.

I know what a philospher is :( And I'd like to have enough faith in my fellow countrymen to believe that people that have atleast gotten to 8th grade would know what a philosopher is. I personally think it was mostly changed to advertise the magic element of the story to the target audience.

Maybe people have crushes on people who don't fit their given sexual orientation and then say "but I'm not (insert sexuality here)!" because according to their definition, sexuality is defined by who you want to fuck first, and then, to a lesser degree, anyone else to whom you're attracted. Not sure if that's Barrowman's reason, and I can't speak for 109, but it seems that most people will react this way unless they're at the absolute center of the Kinsey scale (which is sort of inaccurate, anyway, but I digress).

101. Kishimoto's made a royal mess of his own work. It's a crying shame, really, but the fact is that plenty of fanfic writers are better than Kishimoto at playing with his world. Kishi's a pretty good ideas guy but he seems to strive to waste all the potential he creates.

To be fair, though, it must be incredibly difficult to write a decent story when you don't even know how long it's going to be and how you should pace it. I mean, if a WJ manga such as Naruto gets popular and makes money for the magazine then it can go on and on and on for long long years, with one chapter per week, and the author has to keep expanding it and twisting it and whatnot so he doesn't run out of stuff to draw. This is why many shounen fight mangaka just make up the story as they write (and this is why I like One Piece, it doesn't even pretend to have a story anymore).

Also, the story of a manga doesn't necessarily depend fully on the mangaka him/herself. The mangaka has editor(s) who, in effect, controls the story and may force the author to take it into specific directions, based on what the magazine feels is needed. (I have a friend whose father is the director of a small manga publishing company in Japan. She's told me some horror stories.)

Btw, I'm not really trying to defend Kishimoto, I don't even read Naruto. I'm just, uh, dunno, feel sorry for the guy. Or something.

I liked Rose better in the first season. After School Reunion something changed and I liked her less. Probably because of her whole selfish "I thought I was the only one" attitude and making the Doctor make a promise he couldn't keep just so she wouldn't throw a fit.

Martha's way more mature and she was put through a lot more shit for the Doctor when he treated her as second best the whole time and she still came out on top so kudos to her.

The only ship I like is Doctor/TARDIS. And that's mostly for the lulz.

My friend keeps pointing that out AND the Madame De pompadour Episode when the Doctor dropped Rose like an old hat.

I blame RTD for making it canon shippy in the first place tbh, it just makes me so MAD though. I love Martha and I want to love Rose I JUST CAAAAN'T.
