See, my general problem with religion is mostly the "organized" part. Because, in theory, Christianity has a lot of good going for it. Y'know, that whole caring and loving vibe. Which I don't think anyone could say is a bad thing. But it's the some of the people who claim to be practicing Christianity that twist it epically out of proportion.

This has all be said before, I know. Wank aside, I wanted to bring up an interesting point/comment about the novel. As someone who's going into the field of Education, I've had a peek at the "recommmended reading lists" for students in various grades. And I've always found in interesting that Narnia is on there, but in a lot of places The Golden Compass has actually been banned from schools. Just some food for thought, I guess?

You said what I wanted to, only better! I've met some nice Christians and I've met the people who boycott soldiers funerals- there are a lot of people on the ultra-judgmental, try to change your life, "you are wrong and I am right" side of Christianity.

And I find that very interesting- because Narnia has always been obviously pro-Christianity, correct? That's what I always thought about it. And the Golden Compass had some "OMG BOYCOTT THIS MOVIE" when it came out in theaters that I thought was just silly. If they are going to ban all religious stuff, then you have to ban pro-Christianity works, too.

This, this is why I hate the anime. It should never have existed, none of it. God damn you, Madhouse, for making such a shitty filler arc for an "ending".

I think in the end, the filler arc just made me start laughing so uncontrollably I had to forgive it its own stupendous weight. By the point the series ended, I was waiting for Yako to sign off a three-way marriage contract with Sai and Neuro, and then prance on to everlasting torture like a happy puppy. =/ With a cheap father and a horribly convoluted murder.
