People ship because they like those two characters together--they think they have an interesting relationSHIP with each other. Characters whose relationship intrigues them. Iow, what Sam feels about Dean is far more interesting/a turn-on than what the Sam feels about them, the reader. One might as well ask why anyone would care about Romeo and Juliet instead of just imagining hooking up with Romeo at a costume party themselves.

#101: Srsly? The UK anime scene is awesome. We have several conventions a year (Minami, Kitacon, Amecon, Auchinawa, Tokonatsu), and tbh, I've met some of the best people EVAR through these things. I'm not even into Anime that much any more, but I've kept the friends. Get out there and share your love at cons, you'll never look back m'friend! The only thing that sucks is the price of anime on DVD, but um...we all know a solution to that!

I disagree with the OP's secret, but I also disagree with the idea that it's an example of bigotry. Speaking out against a religion (I.E a set of IDEAS) does not make one a bigot, it just means that you disagree with a set of ideas.

What also bothers me about this reply is the association of Judaism with genocide. What genocide? Terrorism IS being committed in the name of Islam, genocide has been committed in the names of both Christianity and Islam, but Judaism has never been a motivating factor behind any Genocide. War? Secondly, well... frankly, most series ARE presented from a hetero standpoint. It's the norm. Some shows are slowly turning in the other direction (take Torchwood, for example), but as it stands now most of the creators themselves are viewing their series with het goggles.

Now, I'm not saying that seeing slash pairings is bad. Het fans do the same thing when they take two characters who've had little screen time together and pair them up, for example. If people have an argument for it, then I can see it, regardless of whether or not it's a canon ship.
