128. YES. It's weird, in everything I watch with him in it I always seem to be attracted to his characters. First Adam in MMPR, then Kuhn, Itsuki, Lelouch...

101. My advice: You gotta search for some sand. Okay, I don't know what that comes across, but I suggest having a few brainstorms over it. Just take down notes and do a LOT of thinking. It helps if you can get someone who can trust to be your soundboard for some ideas. It's gonna be a while before the writing part. Just try it out and don't stress yourself over it and see where it could take you. It might lead to making a sandbox.

107. ಠ_ಠ Or they actually care. As crazy as the shit is, BL opened doors for some to GLBT literature to activism and the stuff or opened their minds to some extent. Plus there's real people involved who just want to marry and they might sympathize for that. I hate that some people can't understand their religions shouldn't mandate anything in the government because THAT's why America existed partially. I'm not going to lie to say that there are girls who are shallow like that who use BL as a pure sexual fantasy, but most of them are more likely the ones who voted for Prop 8 than not.

110. I thought that was the show kinda nudge at... well the episodes I've seen. But admit it, Shawn makes Gus less stick-in-the-mud IMO. More like "can't live with them, but can't live without them" kinda thing and that they been BFF for a long, long time. ;_; It kinda makes me wish for a Gus as a friend.

112. IAWTS x 10^10. I love that Amano threw a wrench like that in the first place, it keeps the series interesting for me. I know the 10051 fans went all "FFFFFFFF" but it's all gravy for me because I like the pairing because it's fucked up with all manipulation and mind games and stuff like that.

117. I don't watch this show because it's on prolly the worst time for me: Wednesdays at 8. If it was on a better schedule (like Thursday or something), I would've watched it because it looks so colorful and interesting. ABC always, always fails with scheduling.

159. I sigh. You know there are people like that in femslash and het fandom too? Who gives a fuck what someone thinks that you're shallow or what the fuck ever, if you want to get into it. Do it. I don't mind fandom getting a little passionate about things but that's taking it too fucking serious business. Plus not all fans is gonna write essay every time why they like a canon or fanon pairing, but it's usually more than LOL SEX more often than not. Like Hitman Reborn fandom, the pic you're using. Yeah, you're gonna get some fans playing around acting silly about it but when someone does the occasional "why you like this pairing", most of the replies are usually thoughtful about it.

Just do it if you want to, don't like what other people think decide for you and not a majority of fangirls aren't really like that. Just a loud minority.

164. Well, you know there's this little rating called G, which means General and people tend to use it that way. Honestly the only time I knew gen was being used that way was being in fandom.

166. Respect? TVTropes makes ruthless fun of it, on the entry at least. I love TVTropes for the reason a show/book/movie can be good regardless how many tropes it has. Yeah, it's not perfect but it hits the target more often than not.

And it's not like every slash dominated fandom is against a certain pairing, even the canon het pairing or afraid to ship it (I know a lot of people like the het pairings in Reborn, maybe some don't like 27K because it's pretty stagnant and the author never really went anything far with it and it's already at Chapter 218, but no one is so against it that they wank or whatever). There's nothing for people to be disinterested in het pairing and not all slash for the sex. Hell, the relationship in canon (or the potential of awesome if they ever interacted) is usually the reason they slash them.

Well, I guess to each their own, but I definitely think Alexander Skarsgard's body is ROCKIN' HOT. I would totally rather see more men that are built like him than this new trend of uber-skinny, baby-faced boys. But I always have liked the "manly men". ;)

164. Oh, word to the word. Thank you. I hate these people who cannot seem to understand the difference between het/slash and gen. There are SOME cases where a gen-fic can have some het in it. (Zoe/Wash in the background of a Firefly fic, for instance.) But if the fic is all about Zoe and Wash's marriage and relationship and/or sex, then it's het, even if they're canon, sry. I just. IT IS NOT THAT HARD A CONCEPT TO GRASP. There is also no universe in which John/Rodney can be gen. John & Rodney, sure. John/Rodney = pairing = slash = not gen.

Sigh.

I can almost excuse some of the older school pairings when defitionitions might have meant other things, but SGA? No. Firefly? No.

I'm trying to think how there can be such a thing as being TOO SUPPORTIVE of civil rights, short of participating in violent demonstrations.

Maybe their enthusiasm for yaoi and slash is what got them thinking about and invested in the issue, and maybe it isn't. Either way, the end result is more people being open-minded about sexual politics. How is this bad, exactly?

A friend and I tried to do the same thing, just to see how popular our crappy fics would be. I think I wrote about 7 or so chapters...And got over 70 reviews. And this was with the lamest AU plot, the lamest character interpretations and A WHOLE BUNCH OF OCS, FTW!

It still makes me sad to think about how much more popular my crap!fic was than my real fics ;_;

107. I've met a few girls who only pretended to be interested in gay rights because of yaoi, but it's terribly presumptuous to think that all slash fans are like that. The part of me that cares about Matthew Shepard and the part of me that likes reading silly Remus/Sirius fic are two very seperate parts of my personality.

At any rate, I'd take the pro-gay marriage slash fans over the anti-gay marriage fans any day. At least they're not serially hypocritical.

159: You're making the logical fallacy "every yaoi fan ships every yaoi pairing" that's so common among non-yaoi fans. Most of us have a rather limited amount of pairings we ship (and most of us ship het as well); it's just that in big fandoms there will be a group for every single pairing.

You're also making the logical fallacy "friendship and/or rivalry are disregarded in romantic relationships". Those of us who like those pairings like them because of the friendship or rivalry, not in spite of it. That's just how we like romances to start off.

I also think you should take a look at why you think being a yaoi-fan who is uninterested in shipping het is different from being a het-fan uninterested in shipping yaoi.

Hajime Saitou from Rurouni Kenshin. Read the manga if you can, if you want to watch the anime, watch the 2 OVA (preferably after the anime) and the anime up to the end of the Kyoto Arc, the last arc is really bad filler you can skip.
