A Coen brother is doing a 'new take' on the play. The Tragedy of Macbeth will star Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand and be shot in black and white. But it doesn't sound like it will be any more historically accurate. Then again, maybe the witches use that argument to convince him. It should be out this year.

I'd watch it. I've probably had my fill of Shakespeare adaptions of that story, and given I'm only in my 30s, I expect there's more of that to come for the rest of my life anyway. Might as well enjoy something a bit different while I'm here.

Oh - I thought historical Macbeth was historical Duncan's brother! Which would make for an interesting take, but not what Shakespeare was going for as regards pandering to James, admittedly.

I read the original comment and honestly doing some research I don't think that's correct OP, just speculated. though I think family intrigue would improve the drama for modern audiences.

Paul is a teenager in Dune. I don't know much about Chalamet as an actor, I've never seen any of his work, but I like his casting because for the first time an obviously twenty-something isn't playing Paul. Now I don't have wonder why all the other characters are so OMG! amazed at Paul's maturity and ability when it shouldn't be note-worthy an adult has his skills in that universe. Really, I wouldn't mind if someone even younger played the Paul, like the kid from Stranger Things and It.

Never read the book or have seen the first film, so I'll hold off on judging Chalamet until I see this film.

Yeah...I was never a fan of Day (i guess I'm not enough of a geek to know who she was before that episode of Supernatural) but this sounds really annoying/obnoxious. She's certainly not the only one, and maybe I'm off base here, but she sort of strikes me as someone who believes their own hype (which, great, i guess,but some self awareness is great too).

But yeah, you have to be wise about where you voice your opinions on certain matters, in that someone will take it and distort it or misuse your words.

You know she had her moment of fame. Her web series and appearances on TV shows were fun. She helped in a small way to make geek culture cool. But she is like that one outfit in the back of your closet that you still like but is outdated enough that you wouldn't be caught dead in it. She needs to reinvent the geek girl persona into something new or find something else to do outside of the spotlight.

I mean, look, obviously he behaved like an ass. But I think the level of shock and condemnation has been kind of disproportionate - it's dickheaded but it's dickheaded in a way that's really common in relationships. I think a lot of the reason that it seems remarkable to people is because of this aura that Mulaney has around him, and I think that aura is really something that people made up around him, not something he ever really asked for - it was a whole parasocial fanbase thing. So the whole thing is just weird.
