Second, probably because those people have siblings themselves--not that that excuses their self-righteous crusading, but it probably explains why it squicks people a lot. And I'm firmly pro-choice, but the abortion debate isn't nearly so simple; if someone truly believe that abortion is murder, then of course they want to outlaw murder! I love how Plato was a Socrates wannabe who idolized him in all of his dialectics, and Aristotle left the Socrates-worshipping fandom in a huff and started his own school where he attempted to diss Isocrates constantly and figure out the rules to life, the universe, and everything. I'm still trying to figure out how I can be a professional Sophist when I grow up.

I thought that I would be able to find people that love the show as much as I do and share the same opinions as me (or at least be able to discuss the differing opinions). But apparently you have to squee over every single thing and love every. single. thing. or you're not a real fan I found out. :/ I think I'm just going to go back enjoying the show w/o the fandom.

The only way the writers could possibly redeem themselves for writing such a crap storyline would be if they end up killing off the annoying, "dead weight" characters.

147 - I used to work there too (in the Disneyland College Program, which is a laugh of a so-called internship). It wasn't as great as they made it out to be. I became consciously aware of how much they were using me, of how much they really DIDN'T care, of how, once you look past the glitter and the magic of the fun theme parks and the great movies, it's all very, very fake. It made me very sad. I had to take a step back and realized I didn't want to hate Disney for the rest of my life. I quit the job there because I was getting physically hurt by my job and my bosses didn't think that I -whom they were so enthusiastic to hire (or so I thought)- mattered enough to allow me to switch roles. I've made the decision that I won't go back to the parks until I have kids of my own. That said, I went to WDW for a convention and went to all the parks, and was downright astonished by how unlike the Disneyland Cast Members the WDW CMs are. They were not nearly as nice, attentive, friendly, etc. I don't "trash-talk" Disney, but I don't sound like the plastic PR agent I came off as when I worked there. I wised up and I don't regret it.

179 -I believe that the fandom can redeem itself if the fic makes the books looks better. The canon on its own sucks IMO, but it has potential to the degree that I think fic can be great, if it fixes everything the canon fucked up so royally on. So I might give this a chance, just to see if it's worth all the reviews it's got.

And agree w/ 147 as well. Because I *live* here. I've been to Disney 23 times in living memory. After about time 10, I was so done. I refuse to go now because I love the old movies so much and don't want to be filled w/ hatred every time I see the Corp. Rat's ears.
