143. You thought the fandom for Kingdom Hearts... looked awesome?

... KH was a really easy game. I looked up stuff only when I couldn't be bothered to sort it out myself, like locations of treasure chests or trinity marks. The story was... not the point, and was definitely not "typical squeenix." I... seriously, I don't know what to tell you - especially because it IS largely buttonmashing, and I have no idea how anyone could be bad at it!

163. On the one hand, I agree with you, I think it's fucking stupid.

On the other hand, Nomura is pretty fucking predictable and I bet you could probably nail both of them down just by looking at their picture.

Lol, you do have a point. I still wish they'd just wait to write their pr0ns or whatever it is they do until they know for sure. ;D

102 - I don't care what anyone says about him. I think Pete is a really intelligent person, and he's got a lot of issues that he worked through or is working through. He's a symbol to all those people that equate manic-depressive disorders with insanity - success is just as reachable for us as for anyone else. I've admired him for a long time, and I can't see myself stopping - no matter what half the world thinks of me for it.

144 - I think Batfans are positively rabid towards n00bs. I'm a huge Batman fan, and I wish people would read the comics as well as gush about TDK, but really, sometimes my fandom is so scary.

I'm just going to ignore your secret in favor of trying to figure out wtf is on the table beside him-- teeny tiny grapefruit juices, playing cards, Hello Kitty pencils...? Help a girl out here.

[identity profile] ladylothwen.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
150. I agree. This version of Ruby is not exactly my favorite and to see Jo pwn her would give me great satisfaction in seeing Ruby die and Jo grow as a hunter. But I don't think we'll ever see it....there is always fic.

109: Are you me? No, seriously I had this conversation with my roomie over New Years while watching the Twilight Zone marathon. Apparently I still have a massive girlboner for Rod.

124: Well then your friends suck. That's all I have to say about that.

131: I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds him adorable.

150: ... that is not a solution I would have thought of. I think I love you now secret-poster.

153

[identity profile] viedma.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Inorite? I always manage a grin whenever I hear Stephen Baldwin ranting about some born-again Christian bs, because I'll always remember he was in this movie.

123

[identity profile] kitsunekaya.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that exact same way and so does my friend. I actually had to take a picture and send it to her when I saw it XD

[identity profile] x-kchan-x.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
129. Haha. I don't know, I think I sort of shipped Archie and Reggie. Or something weird like that.

135. You should not be ashamed. I love him a lot.

143. ... really? I play a lot of Squeenix games, so I'm probably biased, but I didn't find it that hard? I mean, it was challenging, but fairly linear, plot-wise. And I think I used a walkthrough to find all the damn Dalmatian puppies and complete the journal and stuff, because I REALLY wanted the secret ending.
But honestly, just run around and talk to people and they'll push you back to the plot. Exploration is half the fun anyway.

109. That eyebrow
Ahem. He was indeed an attractive man.

129. Don't EVER touch me!!
Ahaha, woman-hater Jughead was such a fucking headcase. Almost as hilarious as Betty's pants.

136. Mmm, Riddler. ...That is all.

[identity profile] morgana006.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
136. I laughed, but I really can't argue. I mean, DCAU Riddler looked awesome, and The Batman's Riddler looked terrible. God, I love me some Eddie.

139. Why don't draw something you actually like...?

143. Heh. I only got a PS2 for that game too, before I'd even heard of the fandom. And it's still one of the few games I've actually beaten. *terrible at completing games* I'd suggest Jimminy's journal, except Jimminy's journal was useless. It actually took me ages to beat in the first place, I seem to recall! I left it for months with Sora stuck in Agrabah, and came back and beat it when I realized the second one was coming out.

144. Are we talking movies or comics? Because it really depends on where you go. But it's okay! I still feel like a newbie sometimes, and I've been involved for a couple years now. Stupid 60 year old fandom...

151. My sister and I used to dread the Genii episodes. He was moderately better than the rest, but... yeah. I agree with you on the First Season thing though.

103, you are not alone. I can't stand 'furries', but man, do they have a big amount of really well done porny porn art.

[identity profile] doctor-dorothy.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
130: I agree. I am a total Mulder/Scully shipper, but let's face it -- Mulder never treated Scully particularly well. John would have been much better for her in the long run, and definitely respected her more as an agent than Mulder ever did.

150: I seriously do not get all the Ruby hate. Or, I do, given that fandom has hated every female character and actor that has played a recurring role (with the exception of Ellen), but seriously. Ruby plays a significant role in the mythology of the show, and is every bit as important as Castiel and Bobby. I wish people would stop treating the character as an abomination just because they don't like the actresses.

[identity profile] honestys-easy.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
104 should have a good long talk with 147.

129. If I were going for unconventional Jughead ships it'd be Archie/Jughead like nobody's business, but the conflictshipper in me sees Jughead/Veronica working really well. It'd play out like a teen cliche (as if there could be anything else for that fandom): someone mentioning to Veronica that the way to win over Archie's heart over Betty was to win over his best friend, getting slyly chummy with Jughead while he immediately suspects her of shenanigans, but she invited him over one night for all the burgers he can eat and one thing leads to another...

142. That one, in particular, and not Return of the King? not that I'm knocking your feel-good movie, I'm just sayin', it doesn't really end on a high point.

150. If they brought Jo back to do anything I'd love them forever. She just kinda vanished into the ether and wah.

105. Please don't kill yourself! Cons are awesome, and definitely something to look forward to, but they're not the only thing worth living for.

110. I ship it, but I don't know if Shinji really knew Kaoru long enough to really deeply fall in love for him. I think it could've grown into love, if they had more time, however. ...At the very least, I think it's a little less twisted than the relationship he has with Asuka, Rei or Misato.

143. I bought a PS2 to play that game, too, but I like RPGs and I'm a big Disney fan so I had a different experience. (I do agree that the camera is annoying, though.)

118 Get ready to have everyone vindictively judge you as a homophobe for your taste in porn!

128 This fandom must be a lot more fucked up than I thought.

149 Me too. It's almost nostalgic to think about it now

155 He is boring. I wanted him to be interesting but it seems like the writers just intended him to be a plot point, or a romantic foil for Kara and Lee, which is annoying. He's kind of just a token jock and not much more, which makes him about as interesting as any of the other random pilots or marines on the show.

161 That's... wow. You have a lot of problems there.

110. I agree with you, but I don't think it's a good idea to lose respect for anyone who doesn't.

121. ...Man, this could've been written by me in my sleep. :/

First of all, OP, I gotta say, you're way more mature than most people I've encountered on the Internet so far. Apparently somewhere along the line it became passé to own up to your mistakes, and the Internet has only allowed people not to just because there are no consequences (except any moderation, but even then that only applies to certain sites -- sometimes leaving the power to police ourselves to ourselves is not at all a good idea, one reason why I'm convinced technology is actually discouraging meaningful connections and fragmenting relationships instead of bringing us together, but that's neither here nor there). The fact that you're willing to own up to your mistakes is commendable, and the world certainly needs more people like you. ;-)

When I used to have a different LJ username, I mouthed off and got all srs bzns on a capslock comm, of all places. And a whole number of people bitched me out, including someone I once considered a fandom friend -- she was rude and insulting to me both on the comm and on her flocked personal journal. I apologized and did damage control as quickly as I could, but even when some people wrote back and accepted my apology, the other comments still stung. Still do, as a matter of fact. :( My so-called "friend" and I started talking again after a while, but it wasn't the same, and I don't think she ever apologized. So yeah, OP, I totally understand.

To some people, when you screw up, all they see is a pseudonym and a userpic. That's it. They don't see the real person typing those words. Therefore, it becomes very easy to project the image of the overgrown manchild living in his mother's basement, with a neckbeard and dirty clothes and no life IRL, and therefore is a figure worthy of ridicule. Now granted, some people are deserving of ridicule. But I truly feel that most aren't. Most people who screw up are decent, well-meaning people who may have a few issues they're trying to work out -- maybe they're even aware of it. And when they get ridiculed, it's not deserved. It's bullying. And they do it only to make themselves feel better. They feel they need to because they're scared, they're hiding a bruised ego, they can't handle certain important things, they're running away from their problems instead of facing them. (For that matter, they wouldn't be out of place in Evangelion.) So they try to make themselves feel better by going after the "stupid people." And since they never like admitting they're wrong, they'll never forgive you when you do inevitably prove them wrong.

I think these are the kinds of people you ran into, OP.

Just don't be discouraged, OK? There are people out there -- hell, even right here -- who respect you for that. You're not a bad person; at least that much is true.

(Sorry for the speech -- this has been bothering me for some time too.)

134. That's what we're here for, OP. ;-)

154. ...Took the words right out of my mouth. :/

157. ...And here's another secret I could've made in my sleep. I totally get jealous at seeing healthy fandom friendships, I have no social skills whatsoever, and I come across as being a bit of a troll sometimes, I admit. And yes, I don't know how to make myself relatable either. I try to find people with some common ground first -- especially on fandom friending memes. Those definitely help. ;-) But yeah -- I wish I could know how to make friends too. You're not alone, OP.

143. Same here with Final Fantasy X. I like the fandom, I love the story, I like most of the characters, but cannot play it to save my life. It's not even that I found it that hard, or that I haven't played just about every other Final Fantasy. It just... defeated me. Guh.
