144. ...Sequel?! What.

167. "Prick" always makes me think the guy's penis is very small for some reason.

Re: 167

I'll agree with you on that, it's one of the few dirty words that doesn't turn me on. I think it's because it makes me think "pinprick", but I'm not sure.

Or an insult

Do you really want this secret/this wank/yourself to show up on fandom_wank, again?

I mean yeah for all of us who love seeing Heroes wank there, but really. Let it die until something actually worth wanking over comes up.

Re: 110

LOL

Agreed. They should wait until someone decides to date one of the actors on the astral plane again!

105. You are not alone. I am a huge Trekkie who also feels that Klingons aren't the end all be all. It's not surprising that they are so popular though since a lot of (not all!) fans live vicariously through them.

125. That is a great game! A sequel on one of the new platforms would be amazing!

132. There's a club. You should join it. =)

152. IAWTC! I despise Naru as much as a sane person can despise a fictional character from a show she quit watching after 4 episodes. I really liked the rest of the cast but Naru's horrible attitude and abusive behavior set me off. It also annoys me that if the genders were reversed, everyone would be up in arms but apparently women abusing men is totally cool. =/

102 I think people who think Dollhouse is sexist are totally missing the point, but that's just my opinion. (Also, wow, so many Whedon secrets today...)

105 They are pretty one-dimensional -- but then, so are a lot of other Star Trek races.

115 I think all of Mikimoto's females are beautiful. I'd give anything to draw people like he does. I really love the way he draws older men, too.

135 When I was underage I pursued older men. I don't really know why. I mean, my first boyfriend was 23 and I was 16. I didn't have a particularly good or bad relationship with my father, and I was never sexually molested or abused (that I know of). Honestly, I feel like I gravitate towards people that are older than me because I can't relate to my peers, and I haven't ever really been able to. Even now, many of my platonic friends (I have few friends anyway) are also about a decade older than me. Also, I just think the whole older man/younger woman dynamic is sexy for some reason (not like, little girls with older men, that's just gross -- more like teenagers with men in their 20s or 30s).

136 I thought that novel was about a guy who's way overcompensating since he's immersed in a culture that's emasculated him, I could be wrong though. The novel is supposed to be about notions of masculinity, though.

157 Yeah, I think I was most shocked about him being a Cylon. I kind of had the other three pegged as possible Cylons, but not Tigh.

102

[identity profile] zanzou-chan.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
102 - I wouldn't say we're missing the point. It's the fact that the male agents don't seem to be treated quite the same (or at least on screen, we did get to find out they go for sex-meets as well), it's the fact that the show doesn't seem like it's ever going to focus on just how badly fucked up the whole concept is, other than RAEG YOU ERASE THEIR MEMORIES.

[identity profile] kelleigh.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
167. Seriously? Just about every word or slang term used to describe a penis or vagina sounds stupid. What? Do you want everyone to be ridiculously anatomical?

His penis entered the man's rectum, feeling the tight, smooth muscle of his anus clenching.

Or would you have writers be overly harlequin?

His throbbing love-member entered her slick, velvety folds, feeling the fluttering muscles wrap around him like beats from a butterfly's wing.

Everything sounds ridiculous, in the end. I'd rather have words fit the time period/fandom of the fic in question than worry about how they *sound*. For modern fics, there are a lot of stupid words people use.

Get over it, or write your own stories and make up your own damn words. You're not accomplishing a whole lot right now.

[identity profile] beautiful-void.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
103: GOD, I love you. I love Beecher/Keller so damn much. They were epic.

157: I feel the exact same way. I feel like he was made into a Cylon for the shock factor.

138

[identity profile] aredhel-72.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
138: Seriously, you're going to have enough people giving you complexes about your sexuality for the rest of your life (because it happens to everyone, regardless of who they are, not you in particular). Don't let one fucked up character give you another one. Most of us Rorschach fangirls feel lust after him on some level and know it's insanely ironic. You don't have to beat yourself up over it.

Re: 138 OP

(Anonymous) 2009-03-18 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't say I was beating myself up, but it's an emotion that creeps over me from time to time. I really appreciate your comment. It makes me feel better. I have liked a lot of messed up characters, this one in particular just hits way to close to home on a few levels, hense me letting it get to me. Thank you very much for replying to my secret. I am not active in the fandom so I haven't really talked to anyone about how the character has effected me (usually it's strictly positively. Wouldn't Alan LOVE that...*rolls eyes*)

105. Oh god, it's not just me! I never liked them, at all, and never saw the attraction. Apparently, this made me a bad fan (according to a "friend"). But then, he also said there was no way I could call myself a fan since I didn't like Data, and wasn't upset when he "died" (deactivated, got distroyed, whatever). Because, ya know, Data is the be-all and end-all of Trek fandom. It's like saying I prefer McCoy to Spock, and Sisko over Picard and Kirk....Especially to non-Trekkies, since they have this sterotype they hate to be broken, and don't seem to know of anything beyound TOS and TNG (and even for TNG, it's just Picard they know).

In a fandom as large as the Trek one, and given how much there is to Trek, why can't we be more accepting and realise there's something for all fans, and we don't all have to like the same race/character/series/episodes.....?!

Re: 105.

[identity profile] mistress-siana.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)

Yes! I ship it too! I haven't had any inspiration for them though, sadly. Plus there's a dozen other things on my plate right now.

And, yeah, femslash is depressingly rare in almost any fandom where it isn't at least strongly implied in the canon.

127 OP

(Anonymous) 2009-03-19 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
But what about all the bits about Shiki looking at her picture of the two of them together whenever she felt down, and worrying Eri said what she did out of not wanting Shiki around, and having her inspiration to win the game be getting to be with Eri again? (the last of which was made of pure AWWWWWW.) Or Eri's decision to give up clothing design if she'd be doing it without Shiki? I wouldn't call it strongly implied, but this is the fandom where a good chunk of us ship Joshua/Rhyme, who've never even met. D:

Actually, I think (based on your username, but I'm not sure) you might have given me positive feedback/encouragement for writing this pairing a little while ago. If you're the same person, then I'm really thankful- it sucks liking ships that most of your fandom isn't interested in, and any encouragement is nice.

147

(Anonymous) 2009-03-18 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I sympathize, OP. I'm in a similar situation. I first got into fandom years ago and I found it so easy to connect with people. Then my Mom died (and other RL problems on top of that) and I got very depressed and retreated from everything, including fandom. I've tried to come back but somehow I've lost any ability I ever had to make friends, plus I'm still really depressed which doesn't help (I have trouble focusing so I can't write worth shit anymore.) I'm at the point where I've given up - the extent of my fandom participation is to pretty much just lurk and read F!S everyday. I'm not happy, but it's less of a struggle, at least. Anyway, all of that was absolutely no help to you, but...I understand. I hope you find your way back!

I don't find the Klingons boring, just....uninteresting. But I like a couple of the actors who portrayed Klingons.

But my favorite Trek race is Cardassian! They have more layers than any other race, largely due to most of the actors who played them.
