104) I don't know, they seem to be getting a lot of attention for this fic. Why should they give that up?

111) This is a "your kink is not okay" wrapped around a "het is oppressed." Gay characters in canon are way too rare for people to be cool with turning what few exist into common het pairings. Give it a few years when gay is much more common, and then you'll see your gay person giving straight a spin, but right now, that just seems like a cop out if not a nod towards the crazy religious faction that think that gayness is a lifestyle choice.

117) No. No it's not. And really that's like saying people who are attracted to men should be equally attracted to women and vice versa. That's a pretty ridiculous assumption.

128) It's okay not to be turned on by everything. It really honestly is. What turns you on turns you on, don't fight it, embrace and accept it.

151. AMEN. I think Zachary Quinto will do an excellent job, but none of it will compare to the original series and I already feel like it's too bleak like all the offshoot shows instead of conveying the hope of a brighter future that Roddenberry established in the original show. And, of course, I've already seen evidence of the fandom bandwagoning among Quinto's fanbase. It really gets me because a reimagining IS NOT NECESSARY. Low budget and cheesy 60s effects aside, the original show is still relevant. It doesn't need to be updated for a younger audience. The original show was 20+ years before I was born and I still managed to "discover" it.

161. You're not alone. While I don't agree with you on Sheldon being a one-dimensional character, I don't understand the appeal of Sheldon/Penny given the fact that not only is he largely asexual, but he doesn't understand relationships and he really doesn't understand Penny. I'm all for Raj/Howard anyway.

I highly disagree. The franchise, as it stands, is stale. It's old. It's bulky. There's way too much baggage. What, exactly should they do for a new series or movie? Introduce an entirely new crew? Bring back the Generations cast again? This was the best way to get a new Trek movie in the works. This is the best way to get the franchise booted up again and get new people interested in it.

People who've never looked at Star Trek before are interested in this movie. That's a good thing. And it's worth pointing out that a lot of people found TOS through Voyager or TNG or DS9. And yes, much of it is relevant, but I firmly believe that this is going to help the franchise.

Seriously? Yes, Jared DID break up with Sandy last year (and is rumored to be dating Genevieve), but there are a couple reasons I really don't think it's about him.

First of all, the tabloids barely pay attention, IF ANY, to the Supernatural cast. As much as we'd like to see that, they just don't.

Second, the blind item mentions a "good pro resume". Again, we'd like to think of Jared as a huge OMGAWESOME big movie/TV star, but he's NOT. Sure, he's been in a few movies, but ALL of them have been horror, and generally the horror genre as a whole is very much overlooked. If there's anything that would be on a 'good pro resume', it's the fact that he worked with Peter O'Toole, and that was for the friggin' Christmas Cottage, which was released straight to DVD.

Well, the guy did say that JJ was on the same star level as Chad Michael Murry, and his pro resume is about the same as Jared's.

I do agree about the tabloid thing. I think that's the main flaw in the arguement that it's Jared. The rest of it DOES fit very closely, though, so it's pretty reasonable that so many people believe it's about him.

I feel pretty bad about the fact that I've never really been into femslash. I'm a liberal who is totally supportive of gay marriage and really invested in gay rights issues, but I have just never been able to find a femslash ship I'm into. I loved the movie Imagine Me and You and checked out fic that came up for that movie when it did and liked it, but in general I never really got on board with a ship. And it's not because I just want pretty guys to be together and I'm definitely not afraid of it making me gay. I actually really just care about the emotional dynamics between characters and I guess maybe I tend to prefer male characters? I don't know what my excuse is, but it's not homophobia or shallowness.

101. Dude, speaking as a girl gamer who's pretty much into the same genres (save for MGS), why fake an interest in other games? Most people won't judge you based on what kinds of games you're into, and I actually don't associate JRPGs with being particularly girly considering that in RL, I know many more guys who play them than girls. You like what you like, and most of the games you listed are popular or pretty highly regarded by gamers, so why be ashamed? Plus most of the other genres of games are just plain boring. tl;dr FLAUNT YOUR LOVE OF GIRLY GAMES, SISTER. :D

I'm so with you. I used to love Sheldon but the more fandom cremes themselves over him and Sheldon/Penny the more annoyed with his character I become. I almost posted this unanonymously in the hopes that you would find me and I would finally have somebody to squee about Leonard/Penny with. However, I too know how much this comment could offend people on my flist.

You're not alone. Me too. In fact, it's annoyed me to the point I don't watch the show much anymore. There's been way, way, waaaay too much Penny and actually, too much Sheldon this season, and all I can think when I see that is they're setting it up and I hate it. It's just so OOC for Sheldon, but they'll probably end up getting them together if the ratings start to dip. And then we'll probably never see poor Howard and Raj ever again.

I work at a video game store, and if female customers actually buy something for themselves, it's almost always Singstar or Sims. :D I personally like JRPGs, Ace Attorneys and the kind of stuff you mentioned in your secret and sometimes I feel a bit bad because I feel like I "should" know everything about so-called "guy games" too (since I'm working at that video game store and all), but then again I don't want to waste my time playing games that bore me. ;O

112 - Me either. It took me about a week to be at peace with it, and I know I can never watch it again. Especially when he was talking about all their plans before he realized she was dead. God.

114 - Same here. Somehow this whole show made me start thinking about something I never even tried to believe in.

That pissed me off more than ANYTHING, especially after we got to see the whole episode where Rex belittled her and then he died and Beau Bridges (lol I can't remember his character's name) convinced her that she should start the company. Orson of ALL PEOPLE should know how much the company means to her and how far she had to go to get it.
