144. I think I know what you mean unless you're actually including me in those crazy fans! (I quite love Hema & Dharmendra, though I'm not too devoted.) Oh well. Bollywhat is a site meant to inform, essentially.

161. I'm kind of with you on this one, though I'm pretty close to being a non-shipper at this point.

Dude, I'm slasher and I love femslash. Enough to read and write. lol And... I'm not the only one. All my slasher friends like femslash as well.
And, bonus secret: most of us aren't lesbian.

I don't think we're all in love with the both of them - we just admire their work. LK is not The Funniest Man Ever and Scrib is not a perfect writer, but they both have lots of talent, and that isn't something you see very often in the Yuugiou fandom. As for why they are both so popular, I don't know. Perhaps because they are actually, yes, very good at what they do, whether it be making videos or writing fanfiction, and we just like to recognize them for it.

Yes, I am a fan of both of them, so I apologize if I come off a little stingy, but I wouldn't kiss the ground they walk upon or anything. I think they're lovely people on the Internet and I enjoy checking in on them, but that's it. And that's all it ever will be.

NS!2 But... there's only one "z" in "Ozymandius"...

101 LOL, that makes my best friend a stereotypical girl gamer, except he's male.

117 I guess maybe a lot of it is that some people are into slash more for getting off than actually enjoying the relationship between two characters. In that case, I guess the fear of thinking they might be gay or perceived as gay plays into it, at least a little bit.

141 I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's Slam Dunk.

147 D'aw. He really got shafted in the end, too. I mean, everyone he ever cared about ended up leaving him (although, I don't really like the character, but still, I felt bad for him).

151 Who says people on Star Trek were unattractive? I mean, there were plenty of pretty people on the original show.

158 I don't.

As someone who was a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan back when the single came out (old poster is old), I find it awesome that the remix (which is much better than the version released for the Batman and Robin soundtrack) was somehow dug up and made of use again. SP was awesomesauce during this time period.

I WAS ALREADY A BIG FAN OF WATCHMEN FOR YEARS, BUT YOU'VE MANAGED TO TURN A CHARACTER WHO DOESN'T EVEN EXIST IN THE ACTUAL STORY INTO MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IN THE STORY

HOW THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT?

ACTUALLY, I KNOW HOW; YOU MADE DANIELLE DREIBERG JUST LIKE SO MANY WOMEN I KNOW, WHO ARE SMART AND SWEET AND BRAVE AND BEAUTIFUL AND DON'T EVEN SEE THOSE TRAITS IN THEMSELVES

EVEN THO' I'M A STRAIGHT GUY, DANIELLE IS TOTALLY MY HERO, IN A WAY THAT THE MALE CHARACTER SHE'S BASED ON NEVER WAS

101. Oh whatever, just have fun. In fact, have you tried Portal yet?

107. Why do you want that? Mitchell, Annie and George are adorable BFFs. Why do you hate freedom?

151. TOS has a much stronger hold on the North American cultural imagination. It also did not have the revolving door cast like Doctor Who. While the new movie might become popular, I don't think that William Shatner needs to be worried about being replaced by another "definitive" Kirk.

158. Doesn't mean that should be a secret.

I don't want to hit Rorschach. OH NO WHAT DID I JUST DO?

re: 151

[identity profile] milo1047.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Shatner will always be the Kirk for me. But I'm definitely willing to see how the new guy does. I want him to do well, in fact, because that means more awesome Star Trek.

101. I've been sitting here, trying to think of what exactly irks me about this secret. I think I've found it, and I hope this comes out as coherent. Please don't fake liking games that don't interest you - this in itself is part of the stereotype. You see, the 'grrrl gamer' stereotype is also characterized by the fact that girls pretend to like and play games that will only get them seen by boys that play videogames. There's no problem in liking the games that you like, most of them are targeted more towards the general female population. Just keep on rockin' OP - and if anyone cares about which types of videogames you like? Don't give a fuck. :)

101 OP

(Anonymous) 2009-03-31 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
True, avoiding one version of a stereotype only to fall into another probably isn't a good idea either.

For the record, though, I'm not trying to gain the respect (or attention) of male gamers -- it's the other, more "hardcore" female gamers I worry about.

[identity profile] ottechoco.livejournal.com 2009-03-31 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
101. your tastes are your tastes, you shouldn't feel bad about them, just play what you enjoy! Vidya games aren't serious business. (also it amuses me too much that MGS counts as girl gaming. Though it /was/ intended to be both genders c:)

105. I love rule 63'd Watchmen. For some reason, it works...freakishly well.

girl!Nite Owl II is unf as well.

101 OP

(Anonymous) 2009-03-31 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's not that playing MGS is seen as girly so much as that it doesn't get a female gamer any "hardcore"/"real gamer" cred since there's a significant number of girls who like it for the slash and the view of Snake's ass. And even if that's not why I like it, people will assume that it is, and... yeah.

101. Hell I almost wish I was you right now because my backlog wouldn't be so hugetastic. ANYHOO. I can't stand racing, sports and online games like WoW and Quake and WW2 shooters. I am not ashamed of myself for not liking every single genre there is so that I can live up to some ideal of a "true gamer". You like the genres and stories you like, and as long as you game you're a gamer in my eyes. 'S just the way it is, and as long as you don't try and preach the gospel of your games to those who don't like them, who are you hurting with those preferences anyway?

102. That macro. THAT MACRO. That glorious wonderful macro this is the first time I have seen it and it is so wonderful. Ever so wonderful.

110. Right? Boss loev country even if country is an abusive prick to her, it's tragic that's what it is ;_;

114. What is this movie?

136. So many issues here. So many of 'em.

145. But if Disney was a zombie he would most likely just laugh at your futile attempts to bring him down, then eat your brain with some kind of witty one-liner like "Well if your mind's not open to dreams, I know a place it can go to!"... which is kind of longwinded and not very clever, not something along those lines.

164. Oh man... this really IS an awesome song for looking at space-pictures. You really feel weightless when you listen to it...

165. Oh Kishin. He so darn stylish, I don't blame you one bit.
