Actually now that I think about it I think this is part of why I like Regency romance novels. Most of the women and some of the men stress about having enough money, and in the end everybody has enough money. The books aren’t always about that but so many are.

That's why I tend to write romance fics/original stories with wealthy people. I know what life is like for the poor/people barely getting by paycheck to paycheck. I don't want my fantasies to be about struggling monetarily. I mean, I also write rags to riches stories and slice of life stories about people not from wealth, don't get me wrong, but those are way rarer than my stories about rich people living their lives and money isn't a problem.

It's stupid, but platforms like HBO Max just straight-up removing shows from their sites has been bad for my anxiety. Like, I was clinically depressed for a long time, and I just didn't have the mental energy to watch shows and movies I was interested in. And my therapist used to reassure me that there wasn't any rush, all those things would still be there when I was more ready to engage with them. And now the clock is ticking again because what if I don't watch something in time before it gets removed?? (I know, I know, piracy. Finding stuff is its own hassle and timesuck, though. If anyone knows where I can watch Bell, Book, and Candle online, hit me up.)

Those assholes have some deep seated issues, that to stop them from continuing their assholish behavior, they would need a lot self awareness AND awareness of others, or just enough threat of a punishment to keep them in line.

The former tends to be a unicorn. Not impossible, but don't look for it to happen.

This is my favorite Fall Out Boy album. I can put it in and listen to it straight through to this day. Love it. I'm actually gonna go listen to "Tiffany Blews" now, so thanks for that.

I was 18 and a fan when it came out, so it's been a while but I remember Fall Out Boy backlash setting in in the mainstream around the time "I Don't Care" was released as the first single. They were everywhere (and Pete Wentz & Ashlee Simpson had their baby like a month before the album came out and were all in up in the tabloids with that), they had been wildly successful for several years now, and I think the tone of "I Don't Care" made people feel they were buying into their own hype. A lot of my friends were fans of From Under the Cork Tree and viewed Fall Out Boy as this underground, I guess almost indie band. So by the time they released "I Don't Care" (and its music video featuring 7 celebrity cameos including Sarah Palin [2008 was a weird year]), their favorite band wasn't this well-kept secret anymore so they weren't as invested as they were in the past. And we all know how "I liked them before they were cool" things are both in the music industry and when you're a teenager.
TL;DR - I think the album was more a victim of timing than of having bad songs on it.

Politics in Arizona

We get our fair share of bad and weird in politics here in Arizona, maybe especially in regard to our governors, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what Kari Lake is trying to accomplish. I used to watch her (she was a local news anchor) and she never struck then me as obtuse or irrational, but then her campaign for governor was yikes and now she's all in on supposed election fraud since she lost. It's really bizarre how invested she is in this narrative where everyone is conspiring against her and I'm kind of beginning to wonder if she needs help.
