It's funny you mention that "everything seemed darker," because I read in a director interview that the new movie was supposed to be (metaphorically) darker. I'm pretty sure the black suits are a visual representation of that.

I used to be there. For years. So were my friends. Then, we got sick of fics we put real, quality work into getting drowned by the sea of spastic 14-year-olds writing Mary Sue self-inserts and barely intelligible dribble. So we left. I don't feel we were under any obligation to stay there just to make a stand for decent writing.

If someone gives you a gift in real life, you thank them; those rules apply to internet gifts as well. I mean, you could just as easily have said, "Screw it," and not written anything.
