Notes:

This is not your forum to identify and call out specific people just to call them assholes. Call out general actions you find reprehensible, mod ability/inability, that kind of stuff, but once you get into what basically amounts to 'this person is a stupid bitch and here are some icons/an lj layout/add. info to identify them with' - no.

My issue with the Halloween reboot films is that Rob Zombie isn't really suited for a Halloween film. Halloween always seemed like a very suburban film, the killer stalking the little manicured houses, picking off unsuspecting teenagers. I liked how the killer was really an enigma because, he really didn't have much of an imposing figure, he was big yes but he was like a normal dude size.

The issue I have is that Rob works best when he uses the very dirty, nasty, gritty, gross areas of the country. The reboot's explanation of Myer's past really just seemed like Zombies usual "wacky gross nasty people woooooo so mean" and just didn't gel with what he was dealing with. I also really hated that we had to have a shoehorned in reason for why Myer's was a fucking nutball, it was much scarier to me that he was just an evil child with no real reason for his murders, the idea of a totally pointless evil act is much scarier to me than "Dude was fucked up by his crazy ass family man."

Honestly, Zombie should have been given the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake to work with. He had already cut his teeth with 1000 Corpses, which while really bad in a lot of spots and with some annoying ass quirks, has the same sort of feel as TCM. It'd certainly been better than the fucking awwwwwwwwwwwful TCM prequel that we got later.

Simply put, Zombie was just really not suited for the Halloween films.

Well I want to see RDJ in drag.

I think my passion for this is stronger than yours.

i'd like to think that your favorite musical is RAGTIME or something and you're just a complete idiot lol

(Anonymous) 2011-08-17 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, if someone was cosplaying as my OC, I'd be totally flattered. If you wanna do it, do it! :D

Don't ever feel like you don't have the right to a place in the Harry Potter fandom because of something like that. Tastes change, and what matters is that NOW, you like Harry Potter, and that is all that matters. I'd take one fun, passionate, nice Harry Potter fan that came into the fandom somewhat later in life than a million wanky, bitter fans that have been reading it since they were in diapers. I started reading Harry Potter when I was six, in 2001. I grew up with it and will grow old with it, and if Pottermore gives someone who wasn't able to grow up with it a chance to "be there from the beginning", I think that's awesome. I assure you, no one will really care if you got one of the early accounts fair and square, and if they do, they're probably of the obsessive and bitchy fan-variety, and they can get over it. I'll see you in Pottermore :)

This pairing always weirded me out, even as a kid. ;__; I get that CLAMP is all about Soul Mates AKA Your One Important Person And It Doesn't Matter Who You/They Are, but this pairing just doesn't work for me...

The movie is a lot better when you just realize it's not so much a Holmes film so much as it is CSI: Sherlock.

[identity profile] danaphilip.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
tbh I think they both made mistakes. Of course, Castiel has a slightly better excuse, not being accustomed to human interaction. But, come on! The brothers weren't exactly raised with the best models for social interaction either.

It bothers me that fandom is so divisive on this.

In fifth grade I dressed up as my own superheroine OC, and then again when I was twenty, to honor my ten-year-old self. I would be tickled pink as fuck if a friend did the same.

No regrets, just love.

[identity profile] hosekisama.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Tris would be the best girlfriend. Is what I have to say to that.

[identity profile] masakochan.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Well, OK. But why?

[identity profile] amarra-jade.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
CoS isn't my favorite, but I've never understood the hate, either.

Oh man I remember seeing this on my grandmas christian version of cable (sky angel or something) years ago! It made me lol but it was cute.

It don't think it would be enough to make me christian, though.

(Anonymous) 2011-08-17 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
That's kind of funny, because just yesterday I was tidying up my room and I found my old battered copy of CoS and was like "Oh man, this is one of my favorites! I'll be re-reading that posthaste". I didn't know it was so disliked either! (but yeah, the movie kind of sucked a bit)

I love the book and I like the movie, IDGAF.

Re: DA

Maybe OP really meant "boy who wants to be a girl."

[identity profile] danaphilip.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Because Darren Aronofsky makes the horrible things that destroy you from within look and feel horrifying and needs a hug.

And an intervention with puppies.

Re: DA

[identity profile] kallanda-lee.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
What would you describe as a "boy who wants o be a girl"?

Someone who is male-identified, yet, for whatever reason still wishes to be a girl?

My point was that someone who is pre-transition and has not expressed that their gender does not match their sex, will for all intends and purposes be seen as a boy, even though they wish to be perceived as female.

Are people not allowed to read fic once they have kids?

Re: Well I want to see RDJ in drag.

[identity profile] masakochan.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Pin-up RDJ (http://pinuprdj.tumblr.com/)- if you haven't heard of it before.

(Anonymous) 2011-08-17 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh come on.

[identity profile] kallanda-lee.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I lolled

[identity profile] oflittlebrain.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
ok so you didn't word that perfectly

but i would love to read a fic like this about a trans girl. i don't really feel qualified to write it, but it sounds like it could be very interesting.

and of course qb would be sitting there the entire time going 'humans are interesting lol lol' like the dick he is

[identity profile] helenadax.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
An "Alphas" secret!! ^___^ I wondered when they were going to appear. I'm enjoying the series so much. David Strathairn is awesome, I love Gary and all the characters are pretty interesting. Plus, I love the fact that maybe they're doing a mistake and they're not in the right side. I think the show has a lot of potential. Let's cross our fingers.
