I have the exact opposite problem, in that every series I've enjoyed, I had to be in the fandom to enjoy it. It's led to me doing a lot of fandom-investigating and not picking up certain series, just because some fandoms scare me, or otherwise don't appeal. :(

In short, we all have weird fandom qualifications, I'm sure. :)

The religious undertones don't bother me in Sister Act 2, because it's a series about nuns. But, yeah, Glee could take a few lessons from that film. I'm totally fine with switching off my brain and enjoying Glee for what it is, but I honestly can't remember the last time a musical number on the show actually left me feeling uplifted. The longer it goes on, the less emotion I feel from the songs. I don't know if it's the quality going down or me becoming desensitised to it.

Now a large part of this is cultural (guessing you're American?), but crying is just an incredibly emotionally intimate act. It's leaving absolutely everything entirely bare, and putting everyone around you in an incredibly awkward situation. How do you think your outburst is making them feel?

The funny thing about that is that Lancelot wasn't even originally part of 'real Arthurian mythology.' Personally I'm glad they're not sticking to that depiction of the love triangle, because I've never liked it or Lancelot (French Gary Stu) in the legends, and I don't like the idea of it in the show either. The actors have terrible chemistry, their interaction is cringe-worthy, and Lancelot himself is cardboard/Gwen becomes cardboard around him. I'm so pleased that they seem to be sticking to Gwen/Arthur and writing Gwen as faithful (when not enchanted, that is).

And I ship Merthur.

The Rose had a job. The Doctor ruined it LOL. Donna also went after her aspirations but refused to compromise herself to fit into what people wanted from her. I'm not too sure what's up with Amy. They never really mention what happened after schooling or how she ended up in the job she did.

But the point is that most of the Doctor's companions went after what they wanted, if they knew what that was. They didn't shy away from their desires out of some hope of being saved. You shouldn't either.
