There are a lot of us out here that learned a lot from Jim Henson.

I am a master Puppeteer and a puppet builder partly because of Jim.

His work is a touchstone for many people and his philosophies are followed by many.

Don't know if it's broken English or purposefully stilted English so it sounds more Japanese-y. It's weird anyway. Like someone's inappropriately optimistic plea in court for their arraignment on charges of statutory rape: "Maybe it was wrong but Age is numbers! Love is Infinity! And she came onto me First! <3!"

I have kind of a similar issue with translating Japanese idioms and whatnot into English literally because I can't think of the English equivalent (if there is one). Except while your vocabulary makes you sound smart, mine makes me sound like an idiot. For example, the other day I said, "It sounds like her heart is wide." (The term I was looking for is "bighearted.") I knew I shouldn't have studied Japanese.

Anyway, don't be ashamed of how you speak! Your idiolect is a part of you. There's nothing wrong with having a broad vocabulary, no matter how you came by it.

When someone gets diagnosed with any type of disorder later in life, it's typically a relief in the 'oh thank god there's a label for it' way. So of course we tell people about it. Because sometimes, it can really be this revelation about yourself--that's why I have those problems, that's why I do this, now I can be treated for them.

For people who were diagnosed as children or early teenagers, it's just part of who they are. I doubt anyone diagnosed young is going to treat it as a terrible secret or anything.

Now, if you're talking about the type of people who shove it in your face and demand attention/buttpats/special treatment for it, then god yes, fuck them. However, the wording of your secret is saying more 'if they mention it at all' which is...no.

...Well, that's just weird. I, for one, was totally not sitting at my desk watching this show on my lunch hour today and practicing the signs. No. (I learned "lying," "money" and "motorcycle" today!) HATERS TO THE LEFT. I don't think it's fetishizing it at all, I think it's making it accessible and interesting to people who might not otherwise know about it.
