Um, I might be a het fan but It's fucking disappointing when you read a gen fic (for the love of god there's not even that much) and it randomly ends up with pairing. Such a dick move. Don't categorize your fic as gen if it isn't. It's creepy too, do you get off on this :x

I really enjoyed that book, I wish more people had read it. And I totally get what you mean about Deeba. And, basically, I am incoherent which is why I don't discuss books online but it's a great book.

While I don't completely agree with how the anon above said what they did...I have to admit, I kind of agree with them. No one should harsh someone else's squee...but the person doing the squeeing? They should respect it if the person listening doesn't enjoy listening to their squeeing about something they don't like.

Frankly, I've come across this kind of attitude more in real life than I have in fandom.

It's a human thing, not an exclusive fandom thing, I think.

It sounds more like OP had been constantly snarked at than it was a isolated incident.

Other than that, the scroll button is your friend and you can be passively happy your friend is happy before moving past XYZ that they like. If it's on their journal/blog/tumblr and they're not physically spamming anything of you, why the heck do you even care?

Or there's always asking your friend/explaining to the them in the beginning you prefer not to hear about their new interest BEFORE you have a coronary anon.

Yup. I've seen many fics where, if the pairing changes, they list the initial pairing and the end-game pairing.

So there's no excuse for this other than the OP being a jerk.

Or having an obsession with their prankster gambit.

I get that - pretty much all based on whether there was any "Could you please not talk to me about this?" in the beginning or not. If it's on OP's own journal/whatever though, that's really not their friends place to blow up at them about posting/having fun IMO.

To be perfectly honest, I don't believe that they're really catgirls or vampires either, but on the other hand... many people believe a ton of weird things that aren't true, but still fall into the socially acceptable range. So I don't know why otherkin are such a big deal, and I sort of wish we could stop making fun of them because I'm really sick of the persecution complex some of them are developing.

I know the feeling OP. By the world's standards, I'm still pretty strongly religious/conservative-leaning(even though I classify myself as independent), but compared to my parents, I may as well be a bra-burning free-loving new-age devil-worshiping hippie.

And I hate disappointing my mum; she's got cancer, and we don't know how long she's gonna be around, so I prefer her to be proud of what she thinks I am than disappointed with what I actually am, because I don't want her to feel like she raised me wrong. So I just keep quiet.

I kinda half-saw it, but the thing I hoped for the most (before the movie came out) was for her to remain human while trying to help the dude frog (Naveem?) to find a princess and turn back into human (and neither of them really knowing it was supposed to be the kiss of their true love). And then they would eventually fall in love because that's how the story goes. Kinda like Beauty and the Beast but with more frogs.

Well. Anyone who has spent time online during the last ten years has come across a statistically crazily improbable number of people struggling with (in roughly chronologial order) depression, bisexuality, Asperger's, various personality disorders, asexuality, transgenderism, sociopathy...

This is just the newest fad. Wait a year and something else has come to take its place. Due to the rise of creepy SJWs I bet the next big thing is going to be Racial Dysmorphic Disorder, a new fashionable subset of BDD. In plain english: a bunch of white college girls claiming to secretly be Persons of Color (because everybody knows there are only two types of people in the world: White and Not White).

Yeah... this. If you constantly talk at an unwilling friend about a superhero movie and don't even think that without it you'd have anything to talk about, maybe you shouldn't be throwing stones over "ending a friendship over a movie". There's a difference between liking a thing and becoming so obsessive about a thing that you can barely function in your friendships if they don't want to hear about it.

Everyone is defending the OP because turning into a black hole that exists only for Favorite Anime or whatever is considered pretty much normal in fandom, but there's a difference between "unfairly dissing something you like when you're talking about something else" and "oh god please trying to talk to me about Loki mpreg every time we interact" and I have doubts that the OP's situation is strictly the former...

This is mutual, right? Dude could have the grace to at least let his girlfriend know, or break up with her. It would suck for anyone to think they're obligated to maintain a relationship they're ni longer invested in. It's cool you don't want to step on the other person's feelings, but is it really worth shafting your own?

(somewhat off topic, but that's what bugs me about mako actually. Not the part where he's confused about his feelings for these girls, but the dishonesty and tendency to keep leading them on)
