I've seen people shipping it, or at least there is fic. Not much but it does exist? I'm not sure how I feel about it. For me, I kinda ship it but only in a cracky sort of way where I forget the implications from canon. Yeah. So I get it, but at the same time I don't.

My eyes glazed over automatically on seeing Loki's face, I had to force myself to read it.

Given how popular Loki/Tony is, and the fact that people who try to justify that ship usually try to argue pretty much the exact same things that are in your secret, I'm inclined to agree with the last bit.

I disagree with the rest of the secret though, for the exact same reason I disagree with Loki/Tony: the sum total of both Tony and Natasha's interaction consisted of 1) "oh look, this guy is killing innocent people and acting all Hitler-ish" 2) "huh, this guy is an asshole who wants to conquer the world and is insulting me" 3) "damn, this guy just murdered one of my very few friends" 4) "lol, this guy is way less badass than all that bragging about his supposed badassery that he spent a whole lot of time trying to bully and threaten me with would have you believe".

All spread out over a period of a couple days, with about 3 minutes of one-on-one interaction in total.

And while I suppose Tony and Natasha could argue about whether getting thrown out a window or being called a cunt is worse, I think Natasha would still win because of the Clint thing. Having a guy brainwash and mindrape your best friend in the world sorta leaves a grudge, yo. Just don't see the relationship potential in that.

So basically, now that I've mused over it, I think Natasha narrowly beats out Tony for second place in the "who hates Loki's guts the most" contest (Clint gets first place, of course).

As others have said, there IS fic out there, though I couldn't tell you how much.

That said, I like Natasha/Clint and the only person I'd ever think to ship Loki with would be Thor (lol, I know), so...

Not everyone is going to like the same ships. Maybe they don't dig the dynamics? Maybe they don't find it hot? *shrugs* Everyone has their reasons.

I ship it, but only if Loki desperately stalks/is obsessed with her after she played him in Avengers. Because as the god of lies, someone who praises himself on his superior intellect (and his ants/boot line) and having been certain that he had the upper hand during their conversation the whole time being tricked by Natasha must have hurt so. fucking. much.

Where is this "ew het" coming from? There's quite a lot of Clint/Natasha het in the fandom. Just because your ship isn't popular doesn't mean the fandom hates het. (Is probably missing the whole point. *sigh*)

You may be right that it would be more popular if Natasha was a guy, but I think that's because slash fandom is more prone to making up pairings out of thin air and running with them than het fandom is, generally speaking (at least in my experience). There's always going to be a few that ship the rare pairs, but in most cases (again in my experience anyway) het fandom tends to gravitate more toward pairings that have at least a shred of canon or canonical teasing behind them. Slash fandom, having not had the luxury in most cases of canon backing, tends to be more apt to run wild. At least that's my theory. :) But my point is - it's not "ew het", it's just different dynamics.

I think it boils down to this:

1. The "mewling quim" line equates to Loki wanting to rape Black Widow to many people

2. Bucky/Natasha is canon in the comics

3. Clint/Natasha can be seen as hinted at in the movie

4. Many people see her as a boring character

5. She's too badass for him and would get fed up with his whining .2 seconds in

6. People want woobie!Loki or redemption!Loki and neither of those make sense with Black Widow as the love interest

7. Did I mention she's not going to tolerate his shit? Because she's not.
