I'm betting that OP is thinking of some theories which contend that, nowadays, since the majority of babies being born are girls (some people believe the increased use of chemicals is responsible for this), in a few centuries down the line, the ratio might not be 51/49 anymore but 60/40, 70/30...

Well it actually pretty much happened in Russia during WW2. Not a complete gendercide, but virtually two or three entire generations of men were erased. There are still echoes from it to this day (interesting fact: every twenty years or so the new population being born drops in Russia steeply, because the people who should have been parents/grandparents were killed before procreating. Lately Russia has had serious problems with drafting boys into the army since the number of kids born in the early nineties was extremely low; it was an echo generation from the war combined with being the time that the USSR collapsed and not a lot of people felt like it was a good time to have a baby.)

Logically even if there was some weird way to wipe out all human males, we'd be able to raid the sperm banks and fiddle with in-vitro and such enough to breed a new generation.

Y: The Last Man, which this picture was taken from, posits a gendercide so complete that it kills any male sperm and fetuses. And the ramifications of losing half the world's population means that (among a hell of a lot of more trouble) power goes out and the refrigeration in sperm banks is lost. Plus I think some bands of insane women who went ultra feminist burn the spermbanks down as well.

I have actually heard ppl say that Gaia is going to kill off all the men in disgust and then we're all gonna reproduce by parthenogenesis. Science! nvm we'd be all clones, Gaia would find a way...

There's a clan of chimps in Africa where all the (normally super-aggressive) males died due to human causes, and the females, normally subservient, started teaching new young male arrivals about co-operation and mutual grooming and so forth. I shit you not, decades years later the clan is still totally different from other chimp clans. The scientist who studied it has gotten very little attention, a bit like the bonobos were ignored for ages. Heard it on RadioLab maybe?

Re: your secret. Eh, I don't consider it feasible. It would have to be something awfully specific to know out the Y chromosome...and even then, we can make test tube babies from females only...and to horrify a bit more, we can make male babies from 2 female mice, I'm sure humanity would be around the corner.

So to make your situation true we'd need all men + Y chromosome to...die or disappear or no longer be fertile, then have technology collapse so that we cannot simply give birth to more males. In which case, unless we go all lesbian lizard, humanity would die out. Unless we keep the technology and males become unacceptable and we just have an all female population a la Vandread
