Cool. Now I know they'll have some time to explore their story arcs. Totally fucking bitter one of my faves was canceled mid-arc

Re: I have no opinion on this writer, BUT

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Well, actually, you said that books that are popular in their own time aren't the best books of their time. Which does sort of suggest that books that we consider to be classics now, that were popular in their day, don't really deserve their status as classics.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
I found the movie dull. I've been meaning to get around to reading the book because people act like it's THE Sherlock Holmes pastiche and I like Meyer's Star Trek work, but...

I wanna have sex, but I can't find anyone I trust enough.

'Writers can't stop writing even if want to. Stories are always popping in their heads.'

Not all writers produce 'stories' and many can and do stop whenever we like, and regularly take a break due to lacking the inspiration or having more important things to do. The above characterisation of 'writers' is clearly slanted towards novelists over the many other kinds of writers that exist. (FWIW I am a 'published writer' in that a small part of my day-job is writing industry articles. As my team collectively has to write a certain number of these per week, I can & have ducked out of it when I'm not inspired and built up a buffer of material when I am inspired).

I write stuff sometimes, but I wouldn't call myself a writer.

^This. Social anxiety sucks so hard and it makes meeting people really difficult. If you aren't aware of someone having social anxiety, I can easily see how their behavior would appear as rudeness.

I agree with [personal profile] lyndis though, I've been raised that, generally speaking, if someone invites me somewhere, they pay for it. Conversely, if I invite someone to do something, I pay. The OP didn't address who invited whom though, so who knows what went down.

I'm more attracted to women than men but guys also do it for me.

Please stop confusing storytellers with writers. I know lots of people that claim to be ~writers~ and that writing is in their blood blah blah. And they're all shitty storytellers.

I'm not interested to read their writings, I want stories TYVM.

The irony of someone who calls themself "bored bitch" admonishing anybody for being an "adamant raging douche" is delicious.

I write fic and I'm trying (in between life and things) to write an original novel.

Plus there's the seagull thing, which most of the plot outline, all of the worldbuilding, and like half of the characterization for which is done. No words yet, though.

I love you. Really. I do.

writing WIPs

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
anyone who's done it, about how often do you update? Cause my last chapter reviews were all "update soon!" "looking forward to update!" "I hate waiting for updates..." and I'm like, bitch, I wrote 3 chapters in a week. Hold your damn horses.

I'd guess the movie stirred up conversation about her, thereby creating new haters and bringing old haters back into the chattering fold. Although, there are lots of things that have hatedoms but no fandoms. Like F.A.T.A.L. RPG.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe we're reading the secret slightly differently? I'm in no way saying that the OP has a good attitude (my original comment was more directed at the idea that people aren't really writers if they're not a certain way, and I was thinking more in general terms than just the OP's situation), but I'm not reading it so much as 'this Unworthy person is popular so I must ragequit' but more like 'I've realised that talent isn't the only factor in people being published and I haven't figured out how to deal with that reality so I'm lashing out at the unfairness.' I would hope that they do get over that attitude. It's pretty crap. But I also don't think that acting like that now somehow means they'll never get over it.

So curious what you're defining as 'actual writing'.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with the writing out accents thing. Some people can pull them off well, but some people try so hard with them that they end up butchering the dialogue to hell. And then I back button out of that fic like the wind.

If you take it, you fuck them a little bit (a week's notice is still more than some people give when they quit, and in today's job market they'll be able to find someone, no worries) but if you don't take it, you fuck yourself over completely. That's not fair to you.

Take it, obviously.

No- don't worry! I completely agree; I mostly posted them because I think they're fascinating, but I'll admit, they creep me out quite a bit as well. :3

I write, but I haven't had anything that I've written published. I have had my translations of other people's writing published, though.

Re: Is this cathartic or sexual?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I don't know, but it sure sounds like catharsis

also, the word 'recognition' should probably be said

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
The fandom is absolutely horrible. For your own sake, stay far, far away.

There are a lot of things that happen in the world that make me question humanity and want to give up.
Like how Helen is still in Project Runway
