7. FFXII is only slightly turn-based. If you're going for totally non-turn based, Vagrant Story might be up your alley, but it's old and as a cult classic, it's going to be hard to find.

However... if you don't play video games for their plot, I can understand hating the gameplay aspects. However, you have to understand that you're missing out on great stoies when you do that. Also, a lot of RPGs aren't truly turn-based - the ATB system of the FF games isn't 100% turn based. It's similar, and I know it's similar enough to piss off a lot of fans of more free systems, but on the other hand, I think it adds enough novelty and time-based interaction most of the time.

11. That's actually why FFX-2 disappointed me so much. I thought X!Yuna a much stronger character than X-2!Yuna. In X, Yuna was willing to give her life, and to overcome an ordeal just to bring the world happiness for however long it would last. But in X-2, she brings others into danger in some stupid search for one guy. All things considered, I really thought Yuna was one of the best female FF characters simply because of how strong she is. I like Aeris for the same reason - femininity doesn't equal weakness.

Though, on the other hand, I very much applaud characters like Ashe (and Celes to some degree) who are stronger in a more offensive way - they're novel, and I feel like that sort of strength hasn't been done often enough. The white-mage RPG heroine can be extremely strong when done well, but I think RPGs need to be more willing to try and branch out and have different types of female lead characters. It's great to do one type and really nail it, but diversity makes a game fun too.

43. I never played that game, I just watched a friend play parts and was spoiled for it. But when documentaries talk about Mitochondrial DNA and Mitochondrial Eve I lol like I have never loled before.

[identity profile] jigglypuff.livejournal.com 2007-12-04 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with 11. I did not like Yuna at first and I found her rather cardboard, until I began looking deeper, and realised that, even though she is a little too perfect [but shows her weakness eventually, so whatever, I was happy to realise she was normal, just very, very strong], she is how you said. I never played X-2, but I absolutely hated how she would put people in danger for Tidus. [Well, I hate Tidus, but even if I liked Tidus...]

11 - AGREED.

3, 9, 11, 27

[identity profile] unite.livejournal.com 2007-12-04 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
3 -

Seriously, it really, really makes me happy that people enjoyed our retarded spam. I'm not too particular about the PW/Apollo pairing (mostly because I detest the 4th game), but I do wish you luck!! Just keep at it. :3

9 - ALBEL FUCKING NOX ♥ I completely agree with this secret, but I don't think Albel would necessarily identify as homosexual, simply because I can't see him, in game-verse, wanting to make a connection with someone, or form an attachment to anyone. I think it's less that he's amg gay and more like... Faytsexual? XD; 'cause besides maybe Woltar, compared to Fayt? Everyone is just a distant, insignificant maggot. Fayt's caught his interest not because OMG HE'S ONE HOT PROTAGONIST ♥ or because of the way he dresses. He's interested in Fayt because Fayt's the only one who was able to defeat him, and was also the person who made it possible for Albel to keep growing stronger by taking him along.

lol, tl;dr, but basically I agree. I do think it's rather silly, however, that 'daddy issues' is used as a plus in the gay department. XD;

11 - Finally, someone who likes Yuna~! I used to really not dig her and then... for whatever reason, I started to like her a lot. XD; I think it's inspiring that she forces herself to smile through even the toughest of times, even when she sees death and destruction all around her. People say she's a Mary Sue because "omgz summoner she's the only one who can save the world" but news flash - she isn't the only one, there are plenty of other summoners who could have gotten to Zanarkand first and brought the Calm instead. And the whole deal of Spirans supporting her to the utmost as she journeys to save the world is something every summoner is privilege to, not just Yuna exclusively. Any special treatment she gets is what I believe any summoner got.

... blahblshlgkjhlgf I'm so tl;dr today wtfff D8 and FF10-2 has no baring over my opinion of Yuna, because I just kind of played it like I was playing some guy's fanfiction. But I do like me some Paine/Yuna

27 - Urm~ if we wanted to drown in legal technicalities, we would go to law school, or watch endless seasons of Law & Order (not that it isn't a great show, but I digress). Phoenix Wright? That's a video game made for fun. If it was too technical, it wouldn't have the same effect, it wouldn't be as enjoyable. so um~ cry moar? I don't see anything wrong with making a video game lacking in specific details for the sake of enjoyment.

I just kind of played it like I was playing some guy's fanfiction

... I think that is the best way to play X-2 XD hahahahaa my OTP is Rikku/Paine

ANYWAY I was actually very much the same way, with Yuna! I, er, this is embarrassing but I went into FFX as a really annoying typical slashbrat - I was determined to ignore her JUST BECAUSE she was canon het with Tidus, and I spent the first half of the game trying to find someone I could slash Tidus with. ... then Bevelle happened and it was like a lightswitch - she was just so cool I couldn't ignore her anymore, her strength was too amazing. She broke me of being a fanbrat by being so incredible I couldn't put her down. ;_;

When I'm feeling down and out, I try to think of her. ♥

Do you mind if I friend you? You really seem like a cool person. ♥ and I love your Phoenix omg

DEAR GOD THANK YOU!

You are not alone! Raised Christian non practicing, Moses AND Pharaoh were hot as hell imo. Damn you Dreamworks and making such wondrous eye candy.

As for me...I saw a DVD release of Jesus Christ Superstar. Their Judas was a short bald white guy, still sexy tho. Don't even get me started on the apostles .

Mmm sacreligious fangirling.

7: It's the elitists which play turn-based, dude. Elitists are the ones which think that the KH battle style is for button-bashing morons. =3 Get off your high-horse. (I like both. *shrug*)
48: Oh god. I still cringe to think that people WEAR those things. I own three, but... two of them are around my lamp and one is around the stand of my pc monitor. D=

Actually... I do the same damn thing.

And then they make the little hand signs.

Srsly, this guy at a convention with one of those fucking headbands walked up to some friends of mine and said "LET ME SHOW YOU MY JITSU" and started having hand seizures.

Your loss. I'll be over here enjoying as many wonderful games with turn-based battle systems as possible. :D

But, since you refuse to play turn-based game, I recommend the Tales series and Star Ocean series...both have action/real-time battle systems.

My Little Pony? I wrote My Little Pony OC femmeslash once. But it was so god-awful I pretended it was satire.

Also, 23 is a repeat, right?

7. Your loss!

9. I haven't read the rest of the comments yet so I'm bracing for impact, here. I agree with some parts, but there's a large portion of this fandom that definitely DOES NOT.

17. That... should not be as funny as it is, seriously.

24. Resist the temptation!! Speaking as someone named after a flower, it only leads to very annoying jokes and, in the case of people named Rose, annoying Shakespeare quotations. Just think: for every birthday for the rest of your child's life they will get a present with roses on it. SUCH THINGS GROW OLD QUICKLY. ARGH.

Honestly? I don't like Bleach anymore, it bored the total shit outta me after vol. 8 or so, but I lovelovelove the clothing he designs for them ♥ I would wear them if they were real, fo' sure |D

11. I love Yuna, she's definetly one of my favourite FF characters ever. But I cry at what they did to her in FFX-2. Gimme back my sweet, innocent Yuna plz.

Er...hi. So, it turns out that I really, really was being melodramatic when I posted that. But, enough of the comparison remains (namely, the whole perfectionist part) that I'm still wigging. And posting got it off my chest, so I'm not all mopey and complaining or whatever. Er, mostly. I mean, it got me to see my dad as...not such a great person, and I think that just by recognizing that fact, I'm cool.

Er, sorry for being Emo and whatnot. I'll go cut some cheese for my whine, too.

9. omg SO3 sekrit. ;~~; No really though. Who cares? I'm not a huge pairing shipper in general anyway. If it's not rock solid proof then I'll consider them to go either way. I still don't care that much anyway. :|

11: I NO U

I also love Yuna. I like Tidus and Jecht more as far as that cast goes, but yuna's great~

15: Aw. :( Well... I'm sure you could find one!

I sort of want to find the secret poster and give them a bearhug >_>

27: Methinks you shouldn't take it so seriously.

I mean for the love of god the game has you cross-examine a bloody PARROT. :P

39: ...uh. Wow. I have a mind twin out there somewhere, and this is sort of really really freaky >_>

I think you could PROBABLY play a good Lockon if you just adjusted as we learned more about him (it doesn't hurt that he's got the most characterization of the series thus far) but yeah, Soma... might have to wait until the end of the series for her :P
