35 - Two DPS secrets in two days = WIN. I felt the same way about the film when I first got to see it last year.

63 - Jumping on the bandwagon: I do that too, and for the same fandom! :D

51. YES YES YES

[identity profile] terrie.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
14. NEWSFLASH!! REAL LIFE PEOPLE DO NOT LOOK LIKE ANIME CHARACTERS. Do you think the people you see in real life (or IRL, to make it easier for you to understand) are all OLD and FAT because they do not have anatomically-impossible figures and HUGE FUCKING ALIEN EYES? Your teachers make you study Western art because THAT IS, UM, PART OF YOUR CULTURE. Guess what, if you study art in ~Japan~, you are not going to study anime either.

As for why they look 'fat,' the ideal feminine form was quite different in the Renaissance, and during Impressionism, etc -- in fact, it was quite different up until like the 1970s or so, when fashion models like Twiggy, et al became what ladies aspire to be. Maybe if you actually paid attention in class instead of being ENRAGED that you aren't studying *~SUPER KAWAII ANIME DESU~* then you would know this!

28. lol david bowie crotch secret

51. I AGREE WITH THIS SECRET.

[identity profile] ryuutchi.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
14. Said ideal feminine form is also STILL way hotter thhan Twiggy and her ilk will ever be.

4) I hate it when they get all finicky and stuff about "stealing poses". That shouldn't count as art theft. If it's obviously TRACED, it's art theft, but being inspired to copy the way someone stands? That's called "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".

14) The anime chicks, you mean? Yeah, they are old and fat.

34) My heart goes out to you.

38) I sort of thought it was sweet.

40) Thank you for thinking of it that way.

46) Why does everybody in that picture have dark red lips?

37) You lack of spelling is embarrassing.

40) Lol, thanks for the laugh. Link's my buddy, too. I don't need to see my buddy's schlong.

58) Sokka is pretty fucking awesome. Cynicism is win.

62) I love you. I do the same, except for fanfic on FF.net. (Set the rating to "M" in a popular fandom, and watch the lulz come in!) Maybe I'll expand to DA, too.

how can you compare those two games, much less their respective fanbases/popularities, when the only thing they have in common are that they are video games?

Re: 44

(Anonymous) 2008-01-31 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
No one is comparing the games, or the fanbases, but if you look at the attitude a lot of PW fans have towards Warcraft and its fandom? It's not nice, and there's no reason for it, as gamers themselves they should know better.

11. Honestly, kids these days -- they don't appreciate how hard things used to be. Why, when I was young, we had to walk twenty miles barefoot over hot gravel just to watch Star Trek on TV! (Okay, sorry, that was a bit mean.)

14. You're a troll, right?

37. I have the same problem.

38. Yeah, the whole thing makes me a bit uncomfortable as well.

44. And you're trying to stir up wank.

45. Yeah, I hear Rez is really good for that.

63. On my old computer, I used to have Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 Sims, mostly for the purpose of making Priss and Linna get it on. Well, those names probably mean nothing to you, but the point is that you're not alone there.

[personal profile] xenoglossy 2008-01-30 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, guys? The answer to some idiot (who is probably trolling) saying "omg western art is ugly and anime art is teh awesome" is not to say "omg anime art is ugly and western art is teh awesome." They're both sweeping generalizations, and the latter isn't much more mature than the former, if you ask me. I mean, okay, a lot of anime art isn't terribly amazing and it is more commercial than classical paintings or what have you, but most of these comments seem to be treating anime as if it were all moe moe loli crap, which... it's not.

14. I was going to go "Grrr, you troll," but then I realize we've had a few secrets in the past weeks bashing anime and manga to kingdom come. Naturally, someone was going to bite back. This is the result.

Still, it's not a very good troll. Unless you really think Happosai is the hottness.

52. I can completely relate to this secret. My sister and I are the same way. We can't think of one female pairing who are anything like us. However, guy pairings we can rattle them off at machine gun speed. I don't know why this is so. Could it be that because of these show are written by men who have no idea how to write friendships between women? We aren't all backstabbing each other when we are not braiding each others' hair, gentlemen. (Personal favorite, personalitywise, I am Howard Moon and she's Vince Noir.)

67. A "Young Dracula" secret? I thought I would never see the day. If there was a fandom out there, I would join it in a heartbeat just so I can say to other people "Keith Lee Castle has worn that set of rings in about every role he has ever done." without looking like a complete idiot or at least a loon.

Re: 52

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, yeah, that makes a lot of sense. That could be why. (My personal favourite is that I'm the JD to her Turk, but she likes being the Wilson to my House better. ...and yes, I know they are completely conflicting personalities, but, like I said, every fandom. XD)

[identity profile] ryuutchi.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Don't blink. Don't even blink.

14. Wheee, troll! (And if you're serious, then you're a fuckwit, go DIAF.)

31. Also stupid! Light would have ended up making up his own damn definitions of criminal so he could keep on killing people. He would have ended up with a fascist regime. You know, it's that whole "absolute power corrupts absolutely" thing.

38. I thought the original point was that Xavin doesn't actually have a gender. What was it sie said the first time they met? Oh yeah! "I change gender the same way I change my clothes." Xavin's not male.

Not to say the two of them don't have some huge fucking issues that need to get worked out, just that Xavin is not mono-gendered. and blaming their issues on Xavin wanting to be one gender and Karolina wanting hir to be another is an oversimplification and, I think, a misreading of their relationship.

48. Are you me?

59. HOT. Pls to be writing fanfiction now.

He originally said that "for Skrulls, changing gender is like changing clothes"; i.e. shapeshifting is as easy. He strikes me as identifying as male, personally.

14. I'm impressed at the F!S community for defending classical art. It's not that I didn't expect it, but since such a large volume of fandom is anime/manga I didn't think it would provoke such a vehement reaction. Once again, I'm impressed.

40. I find this really cute.

44. Fans of anything can be pleasant or extreme. Judging anyone by the material they're a fan of and not the measures they take to express their appreciation is simply ignoring too many variables. I salute that decision.

1. Why does everyone find the weeping angels so scary?

14. Lol. Weeaboo. No, really. These paintings that you apparently think involve people who are ugly and fat are because of the models used for them. Contrary to whatever your anime sodden brain might believe, that whole look of being rail thin and having perfectly smoothed down hair and glossed lips in the grand scheme of things wasn't a trend that came around until fairly recently. You are what makes me disgusted with anime fans.

40. That's strangely awesome.

48. So much word. Manips scare the hell out of me. I mean, not all manips, but the pornful manips of actors and such, terrifying. My friend and I were discussing them the other evening and we just figured that they'd probably be mentally scarring to the actors if they ever saw them.

67. Is that Young Dracula? My watching of the beeb has landed me watching that.

70. I guess I'm lucky that my offline friends are also my online friends.
