Neither is better than the other. I generally personally prefer fics, but I love good fanart too (although my tolerance for bad fanart is lower than my tolerance for bad fanfic).

And both take equal skill. For both, there is a range from bad to good to excellent. I think the best of both have equal talent.

I'm from a very small fandom whose only presence is really on Tumblr. Now, to preface this, I'm very much a single fandom kind of girl, and I only very vaguely branch out into other fandoms.

Lately, a lot of the people I know in this fandom have been leaving it to become something they're only vaguely attached to. They're getting into other things. I get it, interests change. But it's depressing, because I don't move fandoms easily and now I have fewer and fewer people who're interested in talking to about it. I feel left behind. I know I can't really make them stay in this fandom, but it's still upsetting because I've been left behind multiple times before because I settle. And now it's starting to happen again and it's inducing a stupid, panicky response because I'm mostly happy where I am except for being close to the last one here.

And it's stupid and I hate it. But I don't know what to do aside from just moving fandoms to something I'm not even as interested in just to have people to talk to.

Anyone else play Pokemon?

Weekend Plans

I am going to try and make homemade ciabatta rolls tomorrow for chicken salad sandwiches! And then I have to make like 5 dozen sugar cookies. Sunday I am finally going to go see the new Hunger Games and THEN I have to make cinnamon rolls to bring to work Monday. So my weekend is full of baking things.

What are you all up to (the week before Christmas)?

Drunkenness and age

I can't stand to be around my dad when he's drunk. He's already close to having an overbearing personality, and it's gets REALLY overbearing when he's drunk. He yells at whoever he's talking to, lectures us all about "reality" (as a concept, I guess), makes me feel stupid for not knowing what the hell he's talking about, yells OVER whoever he's talking to, and will always, always find a reason to get angry at me. A family friend even told me she felt sorry for me because of his treatment.

I just try to stay away from him, but sometimes I don't want to walk around outside in the cold, or shut myself in my room.

My mom isn't as bad (and is drunk far, far less frequently - only at parties, whereas with my dad, it's nearly every day) but she used to get really, really angry at me. Like, I would have no idea what I did, and she would just be yelling and yelling. She did once apologize in the morning. She'd gotten so angry she just kept yelling at me to "just sit there and cry" and even said she had to take a walk to get away from me. I think it was telling someone about a bird I'd seen that set her off.

The one time I saw my aunt drunk, she just cried and cried a lot.

Her boyfriend, however, is the belligerent type. He actually started a fight with my mom one time, and then stormed off.

But every time I've been drunk (which is not often) I've always felt happy. Not to the point where I feel like I have to get drunk all the time, mind you. I can be happy without it! It seems to be the same for most of my friends, and we're all fairly young. None of us ever get angry, violent, soppy, or whatever.

So, does a person's reaction to drunkenness change with age? Are older adults more likely to be obnoxious while teens and young twentysomethings are happy drunks?

I joined a fandom secret santa exchange, and the person I got assigned gave me pretty much no prompt, just pairings and thats it. No tropes they like, no things to avoid, no Dear Creator letter, nothin.

So at the time I went okay, I will play it safe and write them a canon compliant fic. I did that, finished it, they're going live soon. But now I'm having major second thoughts because ACTUALLY the canon is very sad so as a result anything canon compliant will be at least somewhat sad. And now I'm going, gosh, they probably wanted something happy?? What if I really fucked up and they are disappointed? It doesn't help that I haven't written in a while so I feel like my skills are rusty. I'm suddenly very anxious about it and its keeping me from sleeping.
