4. For me it's the quality of the actual story. It doesn't matter if there's only one female (or none) as long as it catches my interest.

Well, I'm not really familiar with the show, but according to the trailer, the plot is about a little duck that is turned into a ballerina by a fairy of some sort, so I suppose that she at some point of the show called herself Ahiru, and in the dub, they decided to translate her name, maybe to keep a joke the show made, or something.

21. While I do get annoyed when people call her "Ahiru" just because it sounds better, I think it's perfectly fine to call her "Ahiru", because it means the same thing as Duck. I don't see anything wrong with using both "Ahiru" and "Duck" interchangeably. They call her "Duck" in the english dub because really "Ahiru" essentially is not a common female name, and neither is duck. Both versions literally call her a "duck"... but all of the other foreign language dubs call her "Ahiru". Why can't both be okay?

To be blunt, if nine 600x600-pixel images some of which aren't even related to the character can make you hate a compelling villain, the Heroes fandom doesn't need you. I didn't make those secrets to attract attention to the fandom or to Sylar himself. I made them on a whim, which is how I imagine quite a few people make their secrets. It was an ill-advised whim, but it was still just a whim.

34. Actually, even as an anime fan, this really pisses me off. Batman is so completely an American comic character that to change him so much really rubs me the wrong way. I think American-style comics are hot too, and I get a little annoyed that we can't just keep the two styles separate. I know I'm being whiny, but I really don't think an anime Batman will do well with any fans. I could be wrong.

That being said, I much prefer 'Duck' to 'Ahiru' (even though I use Ahiru to RP, since most of my friends are used to the Japanese name). I don't really lose respect for people who use Ahiru, but it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine...not only is it a fairytale, it appears to be set in Germany. Why should she keep the Japanese name? I understand that people are used to it because of the fansubs, but griping about how ADV translated the name and "Duck doesn't even sound like a real name!" is sort of silly.
Personally, though, that doesn't bug me as much as people who write fanfiction where Duck calls Rue "Rue-chan" or Fakir says "baka" or the like. That REALLY doesn't make sense to me--it's set in Germany, people! GERMANY! And most of the human characters have european names!
I actually will happily use "chan" and such when the show is set in Japan--since they can have useful information about the relationships...and it disappoints me that there isn't a better way to translate them, but it reeeally doesn't make sense to me when the show has German littered all over the place and the town is based on a real German town.

....tl;dr, sorry. XD;; Pet-peeve of mine. I was starting to think I was the only one.
