I posted my first piece on Scribophile recently and the most common compliment I got was that my characterisation is really good! Years of carefully studying characters to write the most accurate fanfiction have paid off, haha. It's my first novel too, and I'm surprised by how full of ideas I am for it since it wasn't three months ago that I was struggling A LOT with original works.

How about you guys? Anything improved your life lately, or something you're looking forward to? If you're on your holidays, are they going well?

US democratic primary question

I have a feeling there's a better chance of millions of penguins tap-dancing through hell, but I honestly think the best chance of rallying the Democratic base--not necessarily undecided voters--would be for whoever wins the Democratic primary to pick the losing candidate as their running mate. If Bernie wins, who would you like to see as his running mate? If Hillary wins, who would you like to see as her running mate? Are those different answers than who you think they'll pick? I think either of them will end up picking as right-leaning a running mate as possible while still having them be a Democrat, mainly because Hillary is seen as more left-leaning than she actually is and will want to counter that to draw in undecided voters, and Bernie is actually that left-leaning and will likewise need to reassure moderates, although I don't know if he'd actually do that or just go with another hard-left candidate on principle. Thoughts?

Fifth Wave

Ugh it was terrible. I know it's teen dystopia novel turned film, but I spent the whole movie yelling at the main character all, "YOU ARE LIKE SIXTEEN CAN WE NOT WITH THE KISSING THE 30 YEAR OLD GUY???"

Not as scary as I thought going in, but still pretty good. The only thing that 'bothered' me was the random mix of English/Malay(?). I wasn't quite sure what the purpose was to the characters speaking both, unless that's a thing in Singapore.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Loved it! I haven't seen Val Kilmer in much in a while (I know this movie's 2006(?) so it's not really recent) so it was awesome to watch him again. Plus the movie itself was really funny, and I loved the narrative.

You know, the pairings you love to hate.

Whether it's the canon pairing that requires both of the members to have a personality transplant, or the fandom juggernaut that you cannot escape from no matter how hard you try, or maybe it's just a pairing that rubs you the wrong way.

What pairing can't you stand? And why?

I'll start: I cannot STAND 10/Rose. I like both of the characters on their own, and I shipped 9/Rose a little and 9/Rose/Jack a LOT, but these two are insufferably smug and ultimately bring out the worst in each other. I was cheering when Rose got locked away in Pete's dimension.
