Now that the holidays are over, is there anything you were hoping to get that you didn't? I for one always welcome gifts of nice woolen socks, but most people think that's a boring gift so they don't buy it. My feet get cold easily. :(

I can't think of anything really. Maybe Michaels giftcards because I knit but feel guilty spending my money on expanding my wool stash when I already have so much. XD

Samurai Champloo on DVD/BluRay. I dropped quite a few hints to my brothers, but I don't mind too much. My brothers got me great gifts...I just miss watching that show and it's one of the few animes I not only watched in its entirety but also one I can watch over and over.

Or in other words, how do I get myself to NOT get turned on by the things I get turned on? Are you old?

And at what age do you consider someone to be old?

I'm 27, and I don't feel old, in general. Being around younger people doesn't make me feel old, it just makes me feel like an adult around younger people.

So I'm always a bit surprised when someone goes on about being "old" online, and I find out that they're around my age, or sometimes even younger. If someone online says they're old, I tend to assume that they're over 35 at least. In real life, I don't think of people as old unless they're over 70 or look like an old man/woman.

Medication

So I've been talking to a Dr about going on medication for anxiety. I don't particularly feel terribly anxious, but my brain has stopped functioning properly and the people with the degrees say it's due to a lifetime of anxiety and my brain has basically gone into Super Ultra Flight Mode and cant' function. Thus, medication. However, one of the major side effects of the chosen meds is a lot of weight gain. I am terrified of gaining weight. I'm overweight as is and have been trying to lose weight and I cannot bear the thought of ballooning back up and beyond. But then, broken brain. So I don't know.

Positive stories of medication would be helpful? Or idk if you have advice for not gaining weight on meds or a med that does not have weight gain side effects?

I don't know what the point of this post is. I just don't have any friends and wanted to vent about this I suppose.

So a dear, pagan friend of mine makes adorable little turtles with found felt and embroidery thread, etc. She's pretty broke (and also has some major physical issues that keep her from working much), but she finds felt, thread, and etc. in old hobby/craft sets people buy and then stick in yard sales. Like 'make your own tree skirt!' and stuff like that, stuff somebody started or never used.

So - anyway - if you have anything like that lying around, and want to get rid of it, I'd gladly refund the shipping costs if you wanted to send it to me, so I could gather it all together and send it to her.

Games thread!

Book club - new plans!!!

So, as per the wishes of several people, we are going to recalibrate a little bit. Here is the plan:

We will NOT be having a book club discussion for December.

We will be pushing back the original December book, Practical Demonkeeping by Chris Moore, to become the January book, and have a discussion for it at the end of January.

We will not be having a January poll. At the beginning of February, we will have a March poll.

We will be pushing back the original January book, It Can't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis, to February and having a discussion for it at the end of February.

Then for March we will read whatever we voted on in the March poll, and carry on like normal.

See the last couple days of posts if you want an explanation - the tl;dr is USPS lost my book so I don't have it (I'm going to order another copy tonight so I can read it next month), and a few people were too busy to read it anyway, and people really wanted me to read it and hold a discussion like normal, and we voted to push everything back. December is such a busy month for a lot of people anyway.
