I was born as a white woman in a country where women are treated as people. That's a massive jackpot right there.

I look at my skin and it's so fucking weird that a genetic mutation that lead to pale skin thousands of years ago somehow translates to being "better". I mean, I get it, racism is the result of oppressive politics and power struggle, but we the people are just so fucking strange about the stuff we decide to be snooty about.

I'm born in Norway, I'm in Higher Education* and am white, only one missing is man and I would have pretty much hit the jackpot.

I grew up with a mentally unstable mother resulting in me ending up in foster care so that wasn't fun, oh and it is the not straight thing, but that isn't a huge issue tbh.

All in all I am very grateful that I live where I live and look the way I do.

*got like 50.000$ in student loans thanks to that one, but in a year I will have my MA degree so worth it.

Fandom Venting

So I'm in the Sunny fandom, and recently the whole "you're a terrible person for shipping Dee/Dennis!" came up again. I guess what I don't get it why people care what other people ship, especially if everything is properly tagged so people can block the shippy posts.

How do you respond to people who react like that? Or do you think it's better just to ignore people who only want to flame and create wank? Do you think there's such a thing as a ship that shouldn't be shipped?

I couldn't think of a better subject. Basically, whenever I read stories about specific people or events on places like reddit relationships or bad_service on LJ or whatever else, I always wonder what would happen if those people ever figured it out - since even with screennames and fake names, it can be pretty obvious.

(Example: Kevin posts about how his sister-in-law is a hoarder. His sister-in-law figures out it's about her because the details gave it away, even with fake names.)

Has anyone ever gotten caught, and/or heard of anyone else getting caught? Conversely, has anyone ever vented about you or someone you know?

Also, I ha e read and very much appreciate all the feedback I asked for a couple weeks ago! RL has been very distracting and a bit stressful lately, and I didn't reply to all of it, but I'm taking it all into consideration. I think next month we may try a few new things wrt polling, voting and discussions - not necessarily to change them permanently but see how they work out.

About next month. That Night Watch book is #29 in a series. Can it really be read as a stand-alone, if you have never read anything by this author?
