Seriously, even though there were some terrible parts of both the sixth and seventh Harry Potter books, I STILL think that they kick Twilight's ass in every way possible.

Sorry, but Twilight REALLY isn't a very good series. The characters are terrible. Bella's a whiny little idiot and Edward's an absolute Gary-Stu. Even the 'romance' is so incredibly boring I nearly DIED while reading the majority of the first book. Sorry.

I will say this, though, I enjoyed the second one far more. >>

Also, I kind of feel like a hypocrite for writing this reply, as I've been watching Edward and Jacob caramelldansen for at LEAST a half hour, just because I'm too lazy to close the tab. ...And also because I genuinely DO like Jacob as a character. >>

32. You kidding? I'd like it better. Sure, yes, she'd be a genki anime girl, but the show is about kids, and I'd take genki over angsty any day of the week. Besides, she'd be a genki anime girl with ambition, fighting skills, a great personality... who was sympathetic because the boy she liked (Sakura, clearly) was hung up on the gorgeous unapproachable angst-ridden princess, Sasuke.

Sasuke as an extremely powerful female ninja with a tragic past whom all the boys go crazy for? Sakura as a male medical ninja with weaker powers than both she!Naruto and she!Sasuke at first, who can do very little but stand aside and watch them fight until he develops more as a person?

And the crux of the show being the relationship (platonic or otherwise, as you see the subtext) between the two kunoichi Naruto and Sasuke, growing from dislike, to friendly rivalry, to deep friendship and a willingness on one side to give up her best shot at power so that the other can live, and on the other to forgive all transgression and bring her friend back (even if she has to break all her bones in the process)?

tl;dr, that sounds like an amazing show. A downright feminist show. (Imagine she!Kakashi's thoughts about he!Sakura: "I see, boys at this age are more interested in love than ninjutsu".)

I went through a situation similar to the one James did, and I found myself having some of the same thoughts (to the point that I could hardly stand to watch some of the flashback scenes). Well done, SH staff, well done. I'd bet money that one of the writers has been through something similar himself.

I think this is bullshit. It's not hypocritical to feel sorry for someone when you find out something bad happened to them. I do feel sorry for - what I don't feel is that she should be EXCUSED for her bad actions because of what happened to her.

Also, Too Big #4: Sam and Dean have only ever saved peopled when they deserved it. They didn't save the writer in Hollywood Babylon, they didn't save the preacher's wife in Faith - they don't save people who are doing bad things. YET, they already saved Bela once in Red Sky after which she sent Gordon AND Hendrickson after them. AND I totally believe Dean when he said if she'd just come to them and asked for their help, they would have helped her. Look they did MORE THAN ENOUGH for this chick.

39: I haven't read VM fic in ages, but I'm a huge fan of the show, and I ship LoVe. Despite Logan's being a bit of a psychotic jackass, I think a lot of the appeal of the ship lies with the fact that Logan is generally okay with Veronica being Veronica. A lot of the complaints in season 2, when she was back with Duncan, came from the fact that Veronica was trying to be "normal" when she was with Duncan -- something she's never bothered to do while with Logan. Also, I think it's better for her to be with someone who's a bit more challenging than Duncan. I dunno, though, I never liked Duncan that much, I always thought he was a bit of a wuss. I'd rather see her with Piz or Logan than Duncan any day.

To each his own, though, that's what fanfic is for.

54: Really? Since when is it a bad thing to like Ayn Rand? Atlas Shrugged is one of my favourite books of all time -- definitely high on my top 10 list. Despite this, I'm a bleeding heart leftist and it doesn't bother me in the least. New Objectivism works well as a personal philosophy -- everyone SHOULD look out for themselves first and try to be the best they can at whatever it is that they do. There is nothing wrong with that. I know that some people are against it because they view some of it as "old-fashioned" and not relevant to today's society -- but it was written at a different time than now and people who can't understand that are a bit retarded. I seem to remember the emphasis on smoking pissing a lot of people off, but meh...

I'll admit that sometimes the didactic nature of the books pisses me off a little. Rand tends to repeat herself over and over and over again, when you've already got the joke. That said, she wrote amazing stories and her characters were interesting. They're interesting books and they're fun to read.

Whoever might give you shit for liking them is a moron.

I know it's late. I know you'll never see this. But thank you. It makes me feel better than someone on the left end of the political spectrum can like it. And like the writing, too. All the lit majors who came up to me and went "waaaaahhhh Ayn Rand sux as a writer why on earth do you like her and omg Objectivism sucks waaaaah" just made me question whether I was an idiot for liking the book.
