OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! opinions =/= fact! Art is subjective!

SO DON'T START CLAIMING TO KNOW WHAT TRUE ART IS. think whatever you want, but if anyone thinks he/she have the authority to determinant what fans should consider "good art" deserves nothing but a "BITCH PLEASE!" response.

83. Oh yea, yea it’s totally got enough smut to rival Danielle Steel. Great job massacring the cover of one of the best books this century. Mmm classy.

[identity profile] top-hatted-girl.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah. Without a doubt. The amateurish writing, the static and stereotypical characters, the clichéd plot, the incredible inconsistency between books. BEST BOOK THIS CENTURY.

Since when has F!S been about class? It's about freely expressing one's opinion on something (freely being here defined as "without boundaries imposed by other people"). Such as whether or not the secret expressed is classy.

And, were we to argue the subject of whether or not something was classy...

"Crai moar"? Yep. You're one classy, tactful individual.

67: As much as I love CLAMP, I have to agree with you. Their action sequences are ridiculous and their comics in general are usually too busy. I have a terrible time following them, especially in Tsubasa. But I have to agree with another poster to try Clover. It's nothing like any other CLAMP work, and IMO it eclipses any of their other work by FAR. Plus the art is much cleaner than their other works.

33. YES! OTINFINITY FTW. :)

78. Hm, but if you haven't seen the Japanese version, how can you like either one better, even now?

2. It's not that they're enthusiastic about it, that makes it bad, it's that a great percentage of the population delusionally believes they are said animal that makes people dislike them.

7. It made me even more pro-choice, because she excercised her options until she made her own decision and didn't let religion choose for her.

37. It's forced hate, too, it seems.

45. Is that seriously going on?! Fuck, that's so disrespectful.

48. That movie was so flawed, hokey and difficult to take seriously.

6: I love that anime like crazy, and I've not a single ship for it. Strangely enough, considering the story...

7: I've always thought that was a strange way of putting it. Pro-life? it sounds so... general. Why not call it anti-abortion?

8: I've only watched five episodes, but that's actually the part I'm most interested in too. The latest part I watched had Suzaku choosing the side of his one-time enemies, to change the empire from within, while Lelouch is taking th more violent way and plans to wage awr on his former homeland. In real life I tend to see revolutions as ultimately useless, but as things are presented it might go either way. Both sides are ridiculously idealistc, for one.

20: That's just... *boggles*

46: Yeah, you're right. We'd better shut down all fandom activity right away; it's not canon after all.

68: Some things are just cute. A lot of people have a tendency to always jump to the worst conclusions.

72: I love Roxas, but why feel sorry for him? He got what he wanted eventually, didn't he? Rejoining with Sora was his goal, and though he feared it at first (because he was his own person and all) my impression was that it was supposed to make him happy. Also, didn't Namine tell him he wouldn't disappear? He should be his own person still, only part of Sora (his heart) and therefore happy about it. I'm all for speculation, of course, but the fandom seem united in their pity of him.

78: Well, techinically you'd have to love the U.S. (I'm guessing?) version most if it's the only version you've seen. For us non-American fans, using the original names helps us knowing who you're talking about, though...

Re: 7

[identity profile] hako-neko.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Because then they couldn't have that sweet under-motives hidden behind being for "life" where as Pro-Choice includes the option of letting the kid live.

07 Well, I always always pro-life if I got raped or pregnant, but this movie made my idea of giving it up for adoption more hopeful; that you can have a life after a pregnancy. It's hard and it sucks, but hey, when doesn't that happen in life?

30 LOL; yeah, that and Sammy being all "awww *hug*" and Dean going ">:[ CLOWNS"--they make me smile no matter what's going on.

46 LMAO. I was actually watching that scene nervously, because I thought "PLZ don't let this turn into a cliche fanfic and have him go all 'rawr, underage girl fu fu fu' and ruin it D:". Lol that fandom's doing it instead.

67. I totally agree. :(

69. I love you.

72. Omigod I agree. NOMURA TOTALLY HATED ROXAS. D: I wanted MOAR THAN ANYTHING!11!! for him to be able to go back to Twilight Town with his squishy foursome buds but NOOOOO he got completely fucked by canon....

75 I'VE TOTALLY DONE THAT. But not for FMA, because I did that during winter break instead of partying. xD BUT I DID IT FOR SUPERNATURAL. Brothers stories ftw.

82 Lol, n00bs.

tb!1: "THEN CANON GOT FSKED" AND AERITH, SEPHIROTH, CLOUD AND ZACK LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER W/O LOVELESS. Seriously, I know what you mean. :/

37. All the Meg-hate in Family Guy disturbs me.
46. Fuck off (though I didn't know Juno had a fandom).
48. It's a fairytale. The plot isn't exactly supposed to be believable.
53. Personally, I think Susan kicked ass in both movies, even after she needed to be "rescued". After my friend told me what happens to her in the books, I decided I was never going to read them.
64. I wasn't aware that food could go out of style.

I would comment on 83, but then I'd probably just cuss the OP out, so I think I'll pass on that.

Re: 48

Maybe I should have made it more clear that my point wasn't whether it was believable or not. My point was that it wasn't enjoyable. At least for me it wasn't.

Well no wonder you'd be bitched at because what a woman does with her body is none of your business.

What. So. Ever.

Like someone said earlier, Juno was a wonderful movie but that's it. A movie. Finding great parents to adopt the child isn't as easy as five minutes of looking in the paper and managing to find something like in the movie. It isn't rainbow and sunshine out here in the real world.

34

(Anonymous) 2008-05-21 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Do it anyway! It's not your fault if either fandom can't see the sheer awesome that crossover pairings are. I'd love to read it. (Plus, you're right, it would be smoking hot.)

[identity profile] theorygirl.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
26. This secret kept sliding around when I read it. Optical illusion?

68. I have a similar figure I want, that also might make me look lolipedo if I got it. But my reason for not getting it is that it's almost $100, and I just can't justify dropping that much on something that has almost no value outside of its cuteness.

53

[identity profile] top-hatted-girl.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
53. The first film actually managed to alleviate some of the more sexist elements of Lewis's story. This one not only bastardized the good aspects of the novel but also made the sexist aspects worse. The romance between Susan and Caspian felt like a cheap marketing trick, as well as the rivalry between Peter and Caspian. (I feel so cheated every time a female character is made into a damsel-in-distress in the film version of a book. Take the theft of Violet's wall-scaling moment in A Series of Unfortunate Events, for example.)

And if you're a feminazi, the world could sure as hell use some more.

(In my opinion, there are two kinds of feminists: those who insist females are the better gender and those who are seeking TRUE EQUALITY between the sexes. The latter have the right idea. When gender ceases to be an issue, the true feminists will have done their job.

I'm not sure whether I think gender is a thing to be celebrated. The social stigma surrounding both sexes has overwhelmed the anatomical differences, and personally I think the labels could be done away with altogether for the good of people in general. But hey- that's me.)

Re: 53

[identity profile] lanjelin.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
In my opinion, there are two kinds of feminists: those who insist females are the better gender and those who are seeking TRUE EQUALITY between the sexes.

The first category isn't even feminists, no matter what they call themselves. That's female supremacy, and it's just as crazy as any sort of supremacism.

08) Every character is basically a walking talking cliche, so if you're looking forward to the political aspects of the show being done realistically, prepare to be disappointed.

37) Sorry, but Meg isn't allowed to be a real character anymore; she's just a doormat.

70) I dunno, the Megaten games always struck me as different, even among JRPGs. A little grindtastic, but I like the Press Turn battle system most of their more recent games have.

OP #08

(Anonymous) 2008-05-21 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, no, no, no, no! Not at all! Seriously, after sitting in little rooms trying to fix Palestine the last thing on the planet that I want is realism. I want the brightly-colored CLAMP clones to dance around merrily and participate in fantastic shenanigans.

46. oh my god you are such a douchebag. if anyone is missing the point of anything, YOU are missing the point of FANDOM AS A WHOLE.

55. so, um... learn moar japanese? you can start by using "watakushi" whenever you have the urge to use "ore-sama." actually, i'm going to assume that you already know enough proper japanese, unless your employers are bilingual and let you speak english instead. but maybe you could make japanese friends who will know you're being tongue-in-cheek when you refer to yourself as "ore-sama," like miyavi! :D

64. ...you do realize characters are still portrayed eating pocky in ANIME, right? see: lucky star.

66. please seek psychiatric help. :( i mean that in the most supportive way possible.

77. i'm probably equal parts toph and katara, but i wouldn't say a person like katara doesn't exist. you just have to put yourself out there. :3

64. Damn, I wish I had some pocky. That shit is good. :(

65. DDDDDDDD: Junpei~~~~ ♥

Too Big #2 - Although I ADORE Rikkai, all the Seigaku and Ryoma bashers caused me to lose interest in the fandom and anime/manga. I mean, I still enjoy the anime but I'm not nearly as invested in it as I was when I first saw it.
