1. What is/was your favorite PBS Kids show? Do you still watch it?

2. Who is/was your favorite character? Why?

My answers:

1. Arthur & yes!

2. Arthur because he has the best comebacks! On an episode I saw recently, DW said to him, "Why didn't you tell me that Buster was a genius?"

And Arthur said, "He's not" in the most deadpan voice ever.

I love it when kids' show have adult humor in them.

3. My two favorites are "The Rat Who Came to Dinner" or "Arthur's Almost Live Not Real Music Festival"! I love watching Arthur if I'm having a bad day. Plus, the kids I babysit love to watch it with me, so it's a win-win for us!

1. This is hard tbh. arthur is up there, so is Wordgirl, Ruff Ruffman, & Sagwa. I don't think they air Sagwa anymore :(
2. Not really / Wordgirl herself! / I guess Ruff because it was a game show.... / all of the cats tbh.

I'm not sure what counts as a PBS Kits show, since I don't recall if that term was used when I was a kid. I liked Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, 3-2-1 Contact, and Square One.

I don't still watch them because 1) I don't think 3-2-1 Contact and Square One air anywhere in reruns, 2) I don't know if Sesame Street is still even on PBS (did it move to HBO or did I imagine that?), and 3) Mr. Rogers believed speaking very slowly and clearly to children is helpful for them - and it was - but it makes for a show that is very difficult to watch as an adult... plus I don't know if it's still on in reruns anywhere.

I have no favorite characters or go-to episodes.

It's hard to pick because I loved both Arthur and Reading Rainbow, but I'll go with Arthur as my favorite because I still watch it.

My favorite character's Sue Ellen. I like her background and I love her personality.

My go-to episode is actually the movie, "Arthur's Perfect Christmas". It sounds so stupid, but that's how I learned that people celebrate holidays other than Christmas and I ended up getting a ton of books from the library once it reopened so I could learn more about those holidays. Plus, it was always on during our Christmas Eve parties, so I have a lot of good memories associated with that movie. "Arthur's Almost Live Not Real Music Festival" is another go to. I still sing "having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card" when I go to the library. XD

1. Magic School Bus. I'll still watch the heck out of that. The books were great too. Wishbone is a very close second choice, though. I need to see if I can find a copy of that and rewatch. Wishbone was awesome.
2. Miss Frizzle was awesome. No one beats Miss Frizzle.
3. The first episode, the space one, was awesome. I saw it and knew that this was going to be a great adaption.

I loved Arthur, though I haven't watched it in years.

I don't recall having a favorite character, though I did really like Francine and D.W. I don't have any favorite episodes that come to mind either, although I liked the one where Mr. Ratburn stayed with the Reed family while his house was...for whatever reason unlivable? I also think of the wedding episode where D.W. has to climb into the church vent or whatever to grab the rings a lot for whatever reason.

I liked Reading Rainbow, although I think I'd enjoy it more now as an adult than I did as a kid. I liked Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood and Zoom. I was also really into DragonTales when it first came out and I liked the Teletubbies as a really young kid when they first debuted. And Barney, obviously. Some of my earliest memories of staying home from school as a kid are watching Barney in the morning and then being bored as fuck because I didn't have cable, so literally the only thing on TV was news while Bill Clinton was still POTUS.

Haven't watched any of them in eons though, except for when the odd Zoom video shows up on Tumblr.

I have to go with the majority and say Arthur. That show is very well done all around. They deal with issues, like Alzheimer's and cancer, without being condescending and have all sorts of characters from different backgrounds.

Hell, even watching some episodes for old time's sake are still rather entertaining, due to all the shout-outs and references that kids most likely won't get (There was a Waiting for Godot shout-out, and a Beavis and Butthead one for instance) and the writing can be rather witty as well.

Curious George, Martha Speaks, and Arthur. I also like Jakers the Adventures of Piggley Winks, Liberty's Kids, and Wishbone. I will watch them if they are on. My favorite character is the Man in the Yellow Hat. I ship him and Professor Wiseman. I don't have a favorite episode.
