I'm a little torn but mostly leaning towards hoping it never happens. There are a few visuals that I would like, although I'm not sure if they would be the parts of the stories that would make it into a live action (like Valinor or the Two Lamps and such).

But those visuals are not enough for all the fuck-ups that will occur. And, it's bad enough that they screw up the story but then the movie becomes the definition, rather than the book. It is rare that Tolkien art of LOTR or the Hobbit isn't based off the actors in the movies. It's rare to find book!Thranduil in any fic. And so on.

It's not just the movie that bastardizes the things I love about Tolkien; it inundates all of fandom and the public consciousness too, which really makes me sad.

...you know, I can see it. The thick make-up makes her lips look broader, and the borg facepiece squishes her nose a little bit, and images of bald women in western cinema are usually black (especially before Evee and Furiosa, which Voyager would have been). Race is a weird thing, and a couple tiny cues threw you off.

I like ludicrous, impossible, over-the-top sex scenes.

In real life, average hetero PIV is just seven or eight minutes of repetitive motions. If it's awesome, it's because you feel like you're being fucked inside-out, not because you are, and I like when sex scenes are truer to the feeling than to the reality.
