Pacific Rim: Uprising

I haven't seen the movie, but I've heard...mixed things about it.

Is it worth seeing as a fan of the original, or should I skip this one? I don't care about spoilers.

I'm a fan of the original, and I'll say I didn't enjoy it as much. I missed the atmosphere a LOT, and the characters didn't endear me quite as much. It was still decent, but there's a couple of things that might really put you off if you were particularly fond of the original's lore and characters.

Ear expanders. I think they look hideous and I worry that the person is going to break the skin of their ear trying to expand it, even though I'm sure with proper care that doesn't happen. But since it is absolutely none of my damn business I keep it to myself.

Ear gauges and septum piercings. Obviously it's nothing that affects me, but I'm mildly grossed out by both and end up having to be extra polite to hide it.

What is everyone doing this weekend?

I will either do nothing this weekend OR go see Black Panther. I was going to meet my sister between where we live to go shopping, eat, and see a movie but now she thinks she might have strep throat. So my weekend is in limbo. :(

The worst untagged experience I had was when I read a fic tagged "character death," which was fine, but it did NOT tag for necrophilia with said dead character!!!

How often do your ships become canon?

I'm curious how often the things you guys ship actually happen in the canon.

After just recently getting into yet another pairing that will never happen, I realized that I've never, not once, had one of my ships become canon. I guess it's not too surprising since most of my pairings are either same sex (and a lot of writers are still afraid of gayness), "problematic" in some way, or just flat out weird, but I'm curious if this applies to other people too.
