I'm perfectly content with how the cats in the new Cats movie look. Honestly, the outrage seems so over-the-top, and assume mostly comes from people who never actually saw the musical and don't realize the iconic costumes look pretty much the same.

Plus, the show is supposed to be weird and a little uncanny. It wouldn't be Cats if it wasn't.

Spoilers for Dororo anime

I think we should focus less on if the anime has anything significant to say about whether Dororo identifies as a boy or a girl, and more on the anime suggesting it doesn't matter. Hyakkimaru having no perception of gender either way (like calling his adoptive father his "mama") because he just sees souls, not bodies, is the coolest and only statement on gender the anime makes.

I get annoyed when authors delay their books again and again. No, I don't tell him that. I don't even bitch about it to my fellow fandom friends. I know they don't owe me and that writer's block is a real thing AND that writers have a life, too. (I also avoid following them on social media to avoid all the "So, you have time for 45 NEW side projects, but you need to delay that sequel to a book I loved for half a year AGAIN?")
I know they're unfair thoughts, but I can't stop them and I feel bad about it.

(Actually not talking about GRRM. He's in a whole other ballpark by now and the ending of GoT actually made me not care all that much anymore.)

About the Daevabad trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty:

I love the two books that are out do far. LOVE them. I'm just not sure if I'm supposed to ship Dara and Nahri or not. My gut-feeling said no after 3/4 of the first book. I thought this was a clever story about a girl eventually realizing that her Rescue Romance was meant to fail, due to them being completely different people, with different values and dreams for the future. Then I went into fandom and followed the author on twitter and now I'm not so sure anymore.
I don't ship them and would be incredibly disappointed, should they be endgame. I feel alone in this fandom.

I find most anime fics in english are terrible. And I don't know why because I like a bunch of fics from series and movies fandoms in english

I would love to read fics dealing with the villain win scenario, the problem is that most of them (that I have found) have the hero become some sort of (sex)slave for the villain.

I've seen so many people claim Spider-Man 2 is the best Spider-Man movie that I finally rewatched it the other day. I hadn't seen it since it came out.

In my opinion, it is terrible.

I was genuinely surprised by how downright bad it (IMO) was. I'm not even talking about the CGI - the CGI gets a pass because 2004. I just didn't think anything about the movie was good.

It was so cheesy and melodramatic! The character's motivations were often absurd or nonsensical, pretty much every character was a huge jerk (except Peter), Peter was so transparently and unwaveringly a butt monkey that it became laughable within the first five minutes, and there were quite a few editing choices that were cringy even for 2004 (one example of many: there were like a dozen different shots that consisted of nothing but random women staring into the camera and screaming hysterically.)

Whatever people see in this movie, all I see is schlock.

I try to avoid media that have characters that are from my country, I often cringe or have second hand embarrassment from it , even if is a positive representation or if the character is well liked. The worst think is sometimes I go to Ao3 to see the fics that they are in and cringe even harder.

Wynonna Earp: Doc Holliday is easily the worst part of Wynonna Earp for me. Every line is like emo Yosemite Sam dialed to 11, and I lost sympathy for how he always does the wrong thing because he's secretly the biggest wuss on the show.

The fake-woke cultural myopia of US fandom makes me want to do violence.

An example! In the 2002 film 'Bend it Like Beckham', there is a scene where the main character, Jess, who is Indian-British, is complaining to her coach, Joe, about having slurs thrown at her. He points out that he does, in fact, know how she feels, given he is Irish and living in England. She recognises this as a fair point, and the conversation moves on.
The number of times I have seen people on Tumblr complaining about this scene, because how could a white guy possibly know anything about discrimination, is beyond belief! And all of these fine warriors for respect and equality are apparently unaware that a) The Troubles ended in 1998, b) the film was directed by Gurinder Chadha, c) the film was produced by Gurinder Chadha and Deepak Nayare, d) the film was written by Paul Mayeda Berges, Guljit Bindra, and Gurinder Chadha, and f) all of these things can be found in about 60 seconds of Googling. So what white dude do they want to blame for them getting all in a sulk?

I love volleyball, I played for a long time and a lot people from my family played as well. But I couldn't get into haikyuu, the first episodes just brought so many memories that I just couldn't keep watching.

I always thought I wasn't into daddy kink at all. Turns out I am, but only if one of the characters is actually old enough to be the other's father, and the younger character has daddy issues.

I prefer when my ship doesn't use a condom during sex. I'm completely cool with other people not sharing my preference, but I'm annoyed by the "You always have to write them using a condom or you're perpetuating a harmful message" attitude some people have.

Yes, in real life using protection is important in all but the most trusting monogamous relationships. But first of all, it's a fantasy. Second of all, it's fiction. And thirdly, my ships are literally always deeply bonded people who trust each other implicitly, with their lives. So if they say they're clean, then they're going to believe each other. I just think it's kind of eyeroll inducing to have them happily take insane risks in every other aspect of their lives, and demonstrate repeatedly how completely they trust each other -- and then have them be like, "But you can't rely on someone else's word when it comes to safe sex; always use a condom!" like it's some kind of high school sex-ed lesson.

Don't get me wrong, I actually love the MCU. But I think there is one big issue in general with shared universes. And that is the fact that there is no consistency between directors when it comes to the characters. Each director has their favorites. And each director has the characters they just don't get. The Russos don't get Thor and can't seem to remain consistent with other directors or themselves. Whedon doesn't get anyone who isn't Stark. And it hurts the movies. Just, more consistency could make these movies even stronger. Everyone talks about the directors being constrained by Marvel and that being a bad thing. But actually I think in some ways there was the opposite problem. There should have been more character consistency.

When I post secrets that I'm only mildly interested in discussing they seem to generate a lot more interest from other people than the ones I'm really excited to talk about.

Maybe my enthusiasm is off-putting? Maybe not many people on FS share my fandoms? I don't know.

i got into entrapta/hordak bc of s3 of she-ra and i am highly amused at finding out how reviled it seems to be bc 'it's abusive' despite the fact that the otp of the fandom is catradora, which i also love, but lets face it: that ship is toxic af currently.

i'm not overly bothered if ppl don't like it, and they can run around screaming about it for all i care, i just find the hypocrisy of the fandom considering it 'problematic' funny.

I have an ace friend in the Good Omens fandom who sides with the fandom group that thinks Neil Gaiman is a nasty queerbaiter for not saying Crowley and Aziraphale are gay men. I think she's just doing it to look like the "good" asexual who is not like those other meany mean aceys who want to steal gay representation, and I just want to smack her and tell her to stop pretending because it's no use, the exclusionists are always going to hate her, and to have more pride in her asexuality.

I cannot play scary video games. The first and only one I tried was Clocktower (3, I think?) and in the game, if you're being pursued by the enemy, if they get close enough your character actually stresses out and their reactions become sluggish and panicked. It actually made ME panic.

The weird thing is, I have no problem watching horror movies (I can fall asleep to RE), it's just games.

hit-counters on fanfic sites are an absolutely stupid idea and should never have been implemented. no one should know how many times their fic has been visited, especially because those counters are not indicative of a seperate individual with each number. it's useless data that only serves to increase or cause insecurity in fanfic writers.

It makes me sad that more people aren't looking forward to Pokemon Sword & Shield, because I still am. But I don't blame the fans. I blame the company because people are upset for good reason, even if none of it is a deal-breaker for me.

I honestly really like the post-rape Healing Cock trope. That’s enough of a secret on its own, because good lord people get up in arms about it, so I stay quiet, but— the reason I love it is because I lived it. The only thing that made me feel real and loved and anywhere near whole again after I was raped was my boyfriend making love to me. It made me feel like all the filth O felt like I was covered in just washed away, that I was still worthy of love and that I wasn’t broken beyond all repair.

I get why people are iffy about it. But I lived it, and for me, it was real. And I love seeing it in fic, because it’s a reminder of the love I felt and still feel.
