It can be a difficult line to walk, I think. Like, for me, I definitely enjoy Doctor Who and want to enjoy watching it without getting into endless divisive back-in-the-day wank, but at the same time, it's hard for me to escape the realization that I'd enjoy it more if it had a different writer.

The problem with this is that their companies see them as objects to sell rather than actual people. They'll force a group (both girl and guy-groups alike) into destructive and unhealthy lifestyles in order to promote a specific image. I'm with you that they're way too skinny. though I imagine they have some muscle, just not enough to look like they do. It's sad really.

But it still has the same heart. It is just that Picard is reacting and responding to a different world just as the world today has changed from the world as it was when the original series and then TNG were made. The same Star Trek roots are still there, the same morals and the same heart.

I think people will recognize Picard as the same character, just older and changed.

Agreed. I have a similar approach but it really pissed me off when, say, Stiles from Teen Wolf is a okay with murder. Like no.
