Yesterday I got an email from my company saying they were getting ready to do a bare bones opening of some of our stores and my store was one of the ones they wanted to open. But today my state extended its shelter in place order through the end of May, so I'm not sure what will happen now. I haven't been to work since March but if it's not safe I am not going back.

Very tired. The rheumatologist I saw said he can't confirm I got lupus but they are going to put my something to hopefully get rid of the face rash. The huge, extremely noticeable face rash. :(

My psoriasis has flared up something fierce on my neck, which indicates to me that my anxiety is getting out of control.

I like routines and schedules, so having that all interrupted by a pandemic and work furlough has begun to wear on me. I need to establish a new one for myself before I get worse.

I'm okay just sleepy. Drew some stuff, one wasn't so good, but it was helpful practice wise. The other thing I'm doing is turning out pretty well, but it's taking so long to make. I'm starting to worry about how people should respond to it. Although I know it doesn't matter and the worst that could happen is that no one says anything about it, it's an.....interesting fandom and I hope it doesn't inadvertently offend anyone. It's a crossover and I have so many ideas and not enough time to draw it all, so I've been losing sleep staying up late. But yeah, sometimes it's fun to get immersed in stuff. Clearly I need an outlet for this expressive stuff, as you can see lmao. Looking forward to reading more that goes on here and else where! People seem so productive fandom wise.

For Anon Asking about Penny Dreadful

I responded to your comment on yesterday's thread, but in case you don't see it:

I've only seen the original Penny Dreadful, but from the interviews/sneak peeks it seems unlikely you will need to watch the first one to get this new iteration. It is its own stand alone series. This takes place in the 1930s of LA? or somewhere in CA or the Southwest, and the supernatural elements used in this seemed to be based off of (Mexican it seems)/ Latin American tradition. It also deals with issues of race (the new guy on the force is the first Chicano on the team? Buddy cop with the Jewish veteran cop to stop Nazis/fascism? Who knows what else).

So, if you've seen the first Penny, they are completely unrelated. At least in certain elements. I do hope certain thematic elements are continued here. It made the characters and their struggles interesting. OG Penny Dreadful was situated in the Victorian era/post Civil War? and interwove a number of stories -- Frankenstein, Dorian Grey, Jekyll & Hyde (really wish they had gone further with that bit), the American Werewolf, Dracula and the Devil, etc.

I think you're fine without the original, but if you ever have the chance just for a good story, you should watch it!

I saw Stephenie Meyer had finally released Midnight Sun and had a nostalgic urge to go read Cleolinda's recaps of the old leak... but then I remembered that Cleolinda got outed as a scamming psycho who was best friends with Jen, the mastermind from the legendary FFVII house, and now I'm not sure if I want to give her old blogs the traffic.

TLDR; weird 15-year-old fandom shit no one cares about.

Tangentially related to that HP Brit Picking secret, is sicked up an Americanism? I keep on running into to it in fics, and I've never heard it said over here in the UK - we'd either say they were sick, or they threw up. Sicked up sounds childish and wrong to my ears.

One of the fics I keep seeing it in is Of a Linear Circle, which has a horrible amount of Americanisms (seriously, you're not a bad writer so why not get a brit picker?), so I was was wondering if I was right with my assumption.

What is this? I tried looking it up on the FAQ but that proved fruitless.

Keyboard shortcuts and grammar question

I don't pay for Word, so I need to use the keyboard command alt + 0151 to create em-dashes. But three quarters of the time, it creates the em-dash at the very end of the line, rather than where I want it.

What's weird is that sometimes it creates the em-dash in the right place. I can't figure out what makes this happen - why it appears where my cursor is located sometimes, and other times at the end of the line.

I've tried googling it, but I can't find any answers. Does anybody know?

Get In the Robot - Goes into anime tropes, genres and a few focusing on specific series. recommending their 'Why' videos like 'Why Mascots?, Why Magical Girl transformation and Why Anime Characters Scream.

Red Bard - Kind of goes into more niche areas on Anime fandom/cultures/merch and sometimes focuses more on Anime shows or video games. Recommending The Rise and Fall on the Yaoi Paddle, and Tokyopop Vs its Original English Language Manga Creators (It sort-of follows her previous video The Fall of Tokyopop, but I think you can watch it without seeing it)

Question About Trick-or-Treating

Very vaguely inspired by some comments in secret #8.

I'm not from a country that celebrates Halloween, but in the last decade or two it has been gaining some traction because it looks like a lot of fun. So far it mostly consists on costumed parties (in night clubs and such) and TV stations showing horror movies or Halloween episodes from American shows.

There are plenty of kids who wish they could dress up and go trick-or-treating for candy, but most people argue that that particular facet of Halloween isn't feasible in a country where most people live in apartment buildings rather than houses, which is what we see in movies.

So, my question is this: how do families in urban areas where everyone lives in apartments deal with trick-or-treating? Do they drive the kids to the suburbs for it? Do they go somewhere else? Do they just trick-or-treat the other apartments in their building?
