140: I love the first Saw because it's actually a really good movie. The characters are interesting; it's well written, well directed and decently acted. But you have to admit that all the sequels really were just excuses for tortureporn, because that's what the studio thought people wanted to see. which is a shame.

Have you confronted them directly?

There have been friends I've had in fandom before who I thought were decently close that seemed to drop off the face of the earth. My only contact info was over AIM or on an LJ that they never updated. Since I'm no longer on AIM 24/7 I never caught them online. There are a lot of people who if you disappear they'll assume you don't take them seriously, will be hurt and then will go away. If they have your phone number or some other direct way of contacting you then there's little excuse for not doing so if you disappear for awhile and have a history of regular contact. But if you don't talk every day and they don't have more direct ways of getting a hold of you then what are they supposed to do?

It's kind of like a girlfriend being mean to her boyfriend to see if he sticks around and "really loves her". Often times these things not only do more harm than good, but don't even give you any accurate information about how people feel in the process.

There's a girl I used to RP with who I really liked as a person. I only have her AIM name and I don't see her on often. When she is on I might be able to exchange a word or two but not much more for some reason or another. We used to talk a lot. I still worry about her since I know she had a lot on her plate and probably still does. But I haven't seen her on in a long while and have no other way of contacting her so there's absolutely nothing I can do about it.

Sorry if I sound a bit preachy. It isn't meant that way. I promise.

103 - I try not to, but I think I do, too. Whatmakes me sad is that at least one of the fans is a relative of mine. I could lecture her, but I know she'd just tune me out and start to hate me, and she's liked me as the best cousin (afaik) since she was born. I don't want to lose that. So I just cross my fingers and hope she'll wise up soon.

113 - I played Rock Band for the first time a few nights back, and I *loved* it. I don't own the system(s) to play it on, nor do I have the $ to get the system myself, but I had so much fun! I say keep doing what you're doing and love it, because haters will be haters and they're not worth your time anyway. That said, why not try inviting your IRL friends over for a Rock Band Jam Session/party and show them how fun it can be? You obviously don't let anything stop you otherwise, so why not show them that?

121 - Your childhood? Seriously, if you want to retain your childhood, look back on other cool things that actually had some merit to them. Go back to drawing with crayons, beading with bizarre objects, finger painting, reading Nancy Drew or Goosebumps or something. Not "Twilight." That series shouldn't be a facet of anyone's "childhood."

129 - But she DID fuck a Popsicle in Breaking Dawn! Now, it's not like the sex scene was actually... well, a scene, but it's so heavily implied it might as well be text instead of subtext. Meyer just chickened out. Some people have said that using ice during sex can heighten the orgasm, but I imagine that least for Bella's first time, it'd be fairly uncomfortable. I mean, what with her memory loss and all that. -_- Mind blocks out painful things. I still don't get how vampire sex (in ANY canon) is plausible. I mean there are certain bodily functions that require blood rushing to extremeties, and SEX IS ONE OF THEM. So unless Ed's got himself a bona-fide VENOM COCK™ (and even then, doesn't that mean his little soldiers have been killed off by his killer venom? Or that the venom has more PPM than the sperm?), I don't see how he could get it up in the first place. Forget the whole red lipstick thing.

...Yeah, I've been thinking about it too much too. :P

149 - Conversely, some of the best smut I've read was written by professed virgins. I've checked and rechecked it (trying to be critical instead of omg!sohawt!), but there's not a damn inaccuracy or "too unrealistic!" moment in it. Hell, I've even read some smut where instead of making it so super-speshul-awesome, the author made it include ALL the things that could possibly go wrong in a first-time (as an example) sex scene, and it made for a hilarious (and hot) fic. So not all virgins make for bad writers of smut. I think for all writing, the most important thing is: READ, READ, READ. So readers of great smut have a greater potential of writing great smut, regardless of whether they're sexually active or not.

156 - V FOR [FUCKING] VENDETTA! I watched the whole movie and had no idea it was HW (what with there being a mask and all; I rarely recognize celebs by their voice unless someone tells me: that way I can "train" my ear), but he's STILL full of win and awesome even without his face being visible in the slightest!

102 - My LJ username doesn't match my username in most other places since it was taken when I first came to LJ, but my nick' everywhere else is 'Azurite.' It used to be 'Andromida.' I don't know, to most people, do those immediately conjure a particular fandom? Short of having a popular fandom's name or a primary character's name as part of your SN, isn't it possible that someone will see a username and NOT know what fandom it might be from?

Andromida was a variant of Andromeda, the character from Greek myth. I've always liked Greco-Roman myth, but in this case, I liked the name because someone else had already 'discovered' it and used it in a fic that I read for an OC Sailor Senshi.

Sailor Moon was my first fandom, and for a while, I went by 'Sailor Andromida.' When I started to notice a to of other 'Sailor (Whatever)s' I switched to 'Azurite,' but I had the same problem with people asking me if the name was based off an OC Shittenou from the same series, even though that was never my intention-- it's based off the actual gemstone (coincidentally, what the other Shittenou are named after).

If I see people with 'Sailor' or 'Senshi' in their names, I automatically think they are/were Sailor Moon fans, but that's not always the case (I think there's someone else who responded to this topic who says the 'Senshi' in their name is just because 'Senshi' literally means 'Warrior' in Japanese and you might have a TON of reasons for wanting to call yourself a warrior, e.g. because it's your favorite monster type in Yu-Gi-Oh!, because it's your favorite D&D/RPG class, whatever). You shouldn't judge people with usernames that MIGHT be based off a [particular] fandom, because if you actually bother to get to know he reason and find out the origins of their name, you might be pleasantly surprised.

At least some people bother to make interesting conjunctions of names, even if they are just two (or more) fandom-related terms/names smashed together, like Sailor Andromida or NinjaMedic or whatever. It's certainly more creative than SailorMoon56266123451 or NarutoFan2111 as a username.
