I always thought the driving force of Time Traveler's Wife, when read critically, was the tragedy that is Claire's life and how she was never able to move on. And that that point can be made without screaming and foot-stamping raises its value, I think.

I find Twilight's treatment of the Edward/Bella relationship as ideal when there is a clear power imbalance and behavior that leans more toward the abusive to be far more damaging and disturbing than anything in the Henry/Claire relationship. And I do think TTW was much better written.

After a year or two in the wildnerness of fanfiction.net and adventchildren.net (does that even excist anymore?) and having creepy people stalk me (the ones that type in fanbase related address to add people on msn), I finally setlled down with this name, which covers a few things for me:

2: Cars (I blame my mechanic of a dad for that)
3: Motorsport
4: One of my two favourite classes to go in any fantasy/d&d/etc based roleplay or game.

There was hype around TTTW? As someone who generally just doesn't get her hopes up for anything, on top of randomly reading it, I thought it was a good novel because it was interesting. I read twilight without having any preconceptions and thought it was mediocre because I could skip entire chapters and not miss anything.

I don't think this makes me a hypocrite though, but it could if I vocalized it the way the secret did.

This is just adding to the wank and bad reputation that fandom already has and now more people are going to start thinking Hetalia supports Nazis and mass murder in chibi bishonen form etc. Clearly because there's at least a handful of disgusting people out of the 5 zillion people now in fandom, that makes us all horrible people who think using bishonen rape as metaphors for war is cool and fun. CLEARLY.

Basically my point is that I'm not denying those anons are scum but I feel incredibly offended because the OP is choosing the very worst to "judge" a fandom that's also full of really awesome people who can appreciate historical parody in other ways without veering into the realms of massacre, bombs and rape. There are sick, disgusting people in every fandom but that doesn't exactly justify saying that everyone who likes such-and-such series is a grossly, irrevocably politically incorrect dickwad because you saw some people who were like that in an anon thread. I'm not gonna lie, the kink meme is kind of disturbing, but I've found that the majority of the fandom is actually pretty insanely awesome. For what it's worth, I've seen very little internal wank within the fandom. People are generally pretty nice. You get the occasional weirdos who want to fap to Pearl Harbor, but mostly it's not really anything like that.

I absolutely love the One Piece fandom. From what I've seen, there's usually little wank or drama going on, and most of which almost always comes from the people who are anti-One Piece "LOL SET SAIL FOR FAIL GENERIC SHONEN SHIT". Everyone in the fandom is so damn awesome. I haven't had this much fun in a fandom in ages, and I never plan to leave. ♥

104. Time Traveller's Wife is pretty skeevy in places, yes, but it's nowhere near as badly-written. Also, the heroine's pregnancies weren't as nightmare-inducing as Bella's.

102. This is actually the first nickname I've ever had that DIRECTLY refrences a fandom rather than being inspired by or circumstantially connected to it. Conveniently, the fandom my name is from, if there even IS one, is so tiny I have not yet found it. I actually get a lot of compliments on my name. :P

People are always going to belittle things you like or even rely on as a part of your life, livelihood, or well-being, whether your reasons for doing so are superficial, or genuinely important to you. In the case of something like a videogame marketed to anyone who can work the controller regardless of their age, gender, social status, or physical/mental handicaps, people are not belittling your problems when they bash the game. They're just bashing the game, and probably also whatever it is about the majority of its players or marketing that annoys them. No matter how much thought people give something before they bash it, your situation is not one almost anyone is EVER going to take into account. And maybe a lot of the people bashing it are people who, for example, CAN'T play it due to physical handicaps.

It's nice to want to feel like a "normal" person. The "normal" people who like the game have to put up with the flaming about it, too. Being a normal person means you don't get treated special because of your problems.
