Oh, please. Troll secret is troll and all, but really. Are you telling me that my 1000+ G1 collection, not to mention tv appearance and 10+ years in the fandom is all overridden by the fact I also happen to collect G2s and G3s?

Sorry dude, you're delusional. More than fine if you don't want to collect them, who on Earth cares? But to deny their 'official'-ness or whatever else? If it's Hasbro, if it's got the "My Little Pony" name slapped on its ass, it's the real deal.

101. Not so much with the carried away by Link thing (seriously, he must be a crappy conversationalist XD), but DAMN, I'd love to explore Hyrule! (...Given, of course, a nice big stash of equipment.) I'm not sure I'd want to live there, though, or at least not in one of those periods where there's civil wars and evil blokes taking over and monsters and stuff XD Pre-civil war - that was ten or so years before Ocarina starts - or post-Twilight Princess would be fantastic, as would the vastly different WindWaker period. Pre-civil war has Sheikah, and they're my favourites ^_^ Post-TP has that gorgeous, VAST Hyrule to explore - Ocarina!Hyrule does feel fairly small, but TP!Hyrule is stunning and gorgeous and just yum. And WW!Hyrule would be fun just for the sheer novelty of it XD

...I have clearly given this too much thought, and I'm not even in the fandom any more XD

102. I realise that, uh, my argument may be destroyed by the comment above *laughs* But my username is fairly unique, yes? As far as I can tell, I'm the only ryttu3k on the internet (which definitely has its minuses, incidentally). I've had the username since I was thirteen, and I'm twenty-two now.

But it originated in fandom.

Specifically, I signed up for Neopets a good nine years ago now (I haven't been ON it for nine years!). When searching for a name, I decided to name it after one of my favourite Legend of Zelda characters, Ruto (I was an odd child XD). It was taken, so I tried a few variations and eventually hit on Ryttu. A few weeks later, I got my first proper email address (still got it!). Ryttu was taken, since it was the year 2000, all that y2k stuff from the year before was on my mind, y2k had already passed so I went for 3k, and thus - ryttu3k. So that's a mutilated fandom name AND it has numbers, but it's completely unique and it's served me well for nine years. Don't be so judgemental of those who have fandom-influenced names!

(For the record, I'm not in to Zelda fandom any more, although the comment above clearly proves that it's still my favourite game series ever XD)

113. I have no shame in my love for Rock Band. It is fun, particularly in a group, and you don't all have to compete to enjoy it. I am perplexed by video game snobs; aren't all games about fantasy? So why does it matter if instead of fantasizing about being part of some epic adventure, being a WW2 era soldier or an assassin or whatever, you're fantasizing that you're an honest to goodness rock star -- without the pain and callouses and time it takes to learn to play the real deal, though I know many players who've been inspired to do just that.

If only because there are some people I've been friends with for years who change their name like every six months and it gets frikking annoying to have to remember which name/avatar/LJ/deviantART account is active now >:/. Then again, there are some people I know who have fandom-influenced names that they've kept longer than I've been online, even though they've since moved from the fandom. Hmm.

What it means is that someone in the Hetalia fandom, more than one person no less, gets off on Rape of Nanking fic. It could be anyone I talk to who likes Hetalia. It could be you, for all I know.

Do you like China/Tibet? Does that person over there? Does this person here? Did they write this brutal rapefic? I can never know for sure.

When it comes to this sort of subject matter, not knowing is a dealbreaker for me. I refuse to associate with someone who could potentially have jerked off over the deaths of thousands, or a community that allows these requests to go uncontested and praised and filled.

Agreed. It's kind of stupid to look at someone's username and say, "Oh, well, your name is (or at least looks like it may be) a reference to X pop culture entertainment, therefore you suck!" One, it cuts OP off from getting to know potentially awesome people. Two, it just makes OP look like a shallow dick. I, for one, don't care that my name is dorky and fantarded--it's fun and flows nicely. I know plenty of other people who have fandom-related handles who otherwise have their shit totally together and just happen to like geeking over something.

Besides, most people outside of whatever fandom someone's username is taken from just don't get the reference(s), so...yeah. =/
