Get over it already. The way I see it, it's healthier to crush on a politician who has done things rather than a brainless celebrity who's done nothing but look pretty. If you don't like seeing people love Rahm, the use the fucking back button!! It is a part of your browser for a reason.

I'm way too old for teenage prettyboys (or characters who look like teenage prettyboys.) I like sharp brains, lots of power, and a touch of silver in the pubes. :)

I totally ship them as well, but Tulip is just too fucking awesome to die. I like to think (totally wrongly) that she'd just laugh and ask to watch.

Srsly, where is that fandom? They're so totally in love. The scenes on the Empire State Building=love.

H-holy shit, you just made my day. No, week. No, YEAR. THE NEXT YEAR. I-- I don't even have the words. I'll just be over here, being as giddy as a schoolgirl. ;3; Especially since I constantly fear that my stuff will turn people away from the pairing instead of getting them into it. So I'm so so SO happy that I could get you into KakuHidan and its fandom, they're both so full of love and win. ♥♥♥

I'm in no way in favor of pronouncing the entire Hetalia fandom as raging assholes based on some weirdos' kinks, but I personally think "it's fiction" is nowhere near strong enough an excuse for exploiting the topics mentioned in the secret. Even for porn. They're about as offensive to me as Nazi exploitation films.

101. I wouldn't go only because of the Redeads, man. It seems so much fun.

124. It was prolly the best they could do in that particular situation. Grell calls Sebastian, Sebast-chan, a play off of his name when you see in katakana. I understand that they want to drop the -chan considering the series is in late Victorian England. Honestly, I hate when chan gets translated in that way but I can understand why they did that.

136. And I judge people who judge fandoms by their kink memes. Oh shi-. Granted some of them are 'WTF...'

Honestly, what is with this wank bait lately. I know the Internet Backdraft towards this series is starting outside of Japan, but come on now, you know kink meme aren't an accurate view of a fandom.

140. Wait, these movies have a plot over than torture porn? I mean I know that most American horror movies are like moral stories and all.

142. This eerily remind me of something that frats would so do.

149. This is why you point it out. Research isn't hard to find to make it believable either. I mean there are men who write about pregnancies, y'know.

154. You have to learn that sometimes it happens and there's not much you can do about it...

155. THAT EYE, wtf?

168. I'm curious... tell me more.

Not!Secret #1. The Hulk line killed me, but IAWTC.

(Anonymous) 2008-12-14 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
140. Not the OP, but I can see what the secret's saying to a certain degree -- I mean, compared to movies like Hostel, there's much more of a plot going on for Saw and the first movie wasn't bad at all. The concept and characters were pretty interesting. Sure, there's a definite element of torture porn there and it's hardly Oscar material, but I'll give credit where credit is due: it's not just about watching people get their bits sliced off. Plus, it was genuinely creepy and freaky amidst all the gore, as opposed to Hostel which was just plain gross.

That said, I wouldn't look down on anyone who watches it solely for the horror and gore or anything because that's obviously a huge part of those movies, too, though personally, I think horror should be about the scare rather than how many buckets of blood they can rain down on the set.

This nick is fandom influenced (Kingdom Hearts to be precise, anyone who's a fan of it can probably figure out how so,) but it since it's not a canon character's name, it works quite well for a nick, even after I've got tired of KH fandom.

Also, It's never taken on any site/game ever, so that's a plus.

136. What? What? I think this is the first time reading something on the internet has actually made me feel physically ill. Writing slash about the Rape of Nanking, Pearl Harbor?! Re: 136

[identity profile] xilnold.livejournal.com 2008-12-13 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
The Nanking Massacre, commonly known as the Rape of Nanking, was an infamous war crime committed by the Japanese military in Nanjing (Nanking), then the capital of the Republic of China, after it fell to the Imperial Japanese Army on December 13, 1937. The duration of the massacre is not clearly defined, although the violence lasted at least until early February 1938. Estimates of the death count vary, with most reliable sources holding that 200,000 to 300,000 Chinese civilians were massacred in this period.[1][2] Japanese officials lied about civilian death figures at the time, and some Japanese ultranationalists are still active in attempting to deny that the killings ever occurred.[2][3]

During the occupation of Nanking, the Japanese army committed numerous atrocities, such as rape, looting, arson and the execution of prisoners of war and civilians. The executions began under the pretext of eliminating Chinese soldiers disguised as civilians, and a large number of innocent men were intentionally misidentified as enemy combatants and executed as the massacre gathered momentum. A large number of women and children were also killed, as rape and murder became more widespread.[4]

While the Japanese government has acknowledged the massacre did occur,[5] some Japanese nationalists have argued that the death toll was military in nature and that no such civilian atrocities ever occurred. Denial of the massacre, and a divergent array of revisionist accounts of the killings, has become a staple of Japanese nationalist discourse.[6] In Japan, public opinion of the massacres varies, and only a minority deny the atrocity.[6] Nonetheless, revisionist accounts have often created controversy that has reverberated in the media, particularly in China.[3][6] The 1937 massacre and the extent of its coverage in Japanese school textbooks continues to trouble Sino-Japanese relations.
