... Did you just say you were a punk fan, and then imply that you like Green Day?

Re: 136

(Anonymous) 2009-04-03 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
And you have a problem with this?

Green Day are a punk band. Pop-punk, yeah. But punk.

I've been a fan for almost 18 years, that's not gonna change any time soon.

And come on, like there are any 'real' punk bands around anymore, with the exception of the Dolls.

130. So, well, your point of view is that "well, why write believable stories when we can fuck around and make it hawt !" And you think this is going to be taken seriously ? You've got to be kidding me.
Don't assume all the person reading slash are doing it because of their fantasies. Maybe there are people that likes slash for the psychological and sociological aspects of it.
I read slash because I'm obsessed with psychology and homosexual relationships fascinate me (I've studied it). Not for the pretty! not for the sex! but for the relationship, the interaction and the development.
It's fine if you don't care about realistic stories ; just don't assume the fandom should be all about the fantasies.

136 - lolz people are still trying to claim that green day is punk?

151 - i can tell you now: youre already gaining points on the mary sue scale by having names like ruby and cherry.

170 - lol change? on house? keep dreaming. sooner or later everything always goes back to the way it was, and im starting to get really REALLY sick of it.

170. Even if the writers DID have the balls to kill Wilson, it would be breaking RSL's contract, which might end up biting someone in the ass, lol. Though, you never know.

127. I agree with you.

[identity profile] twbasketcase.livejournal.com 2009-04-03 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
137 - Personally I think Rogue is overrated as a whole. X-Fans just love her to bits, and I've always thought she was whiny and a bitch (comics 'verse). As for the cartoons, they've just made her even more whiny and piled on the emo. Wolverine & the X-Men and the movies are the BIGGEST examples of this. Personally, I could do without her in any 'verse, but then someone's probably just going to jump on me for being a hater anyways. Yupp. Evo wasn't as bad because at least she had the snark and the more erratic side to her, with killing her mumsy and all. :)

164 - lawl I can has speling?

You know, I could sit down and type out everything that is wrong with your secret and how you've not been reading the same manga the rest of us have--and I'd be here all night. But I acknowledge your personal trauma in regards to suicide, and I'll cut you a break. I'll just say that your personal trauma does not apply to this fictional situation. At all.

Perhaps it's time you put down the manga, as this is only going to get worse for you. Please get some help because I can tell that your friend's actions continue to haunt you to this day--and you shouldn't have to try and get through that alone. I wish you the best of luck, ok?

[identity profile] dreamsofspike.livejournal.com 2009-04-03 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
#104 – IAWTS… There’s so much more to Narnia than a children’s story… It was written as a Christian allegory and when I watched the part of the movie involving Aslan’s sacrifice, I seriously had chills at the power of the symbolism in it.

#107 – seriously disturbing… seriously… like, wow… :(

#170 – I can see your point, but I’d have to stop watching… without House and Wilson’s friendship, I would lose interest in the show completely… It’d be artistically impressive, but it’d be taking my show away from me :P

Re: #104

[identity profile] caterfree10.livejournal.com 2009-04-03 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
No, the Narnia series WAS NOT written as an allegory. It was a "What if?" story that CS Lewis wrote and he said that himself. His train of though when he came up with Aslan was "Suppose Christ existed in other worlds and suppose in one, he was a Lion. What would happen then?" Paraphrased a bit since it's been a while since I've seen the actual quote, but that's the gist of it. *has read craptons of essays and written a research paper on Narnia*

137 - X-men Evolution and classic X-men Rogues = bamfs.

161 - I will always love Stein myself. I was irritated that the show focused on him so much toward the middle, but now I wish they'd tied his story up a bit better or given us a smidge more backstory since they made him so important in the middle. =(

164 - I'll kill you, too.

I mean. Aw, don't hate Sam. hehe

Why can a movie ruin a book, but a book can't ruin a movie, exactly...?

154 OP

(Anonymous) 2009-04-03 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
First, let me take this opportunity to headdesk. *headdesk*

I meant a book can ruin a movie, but a movie can't ruin a book. Way to mix up important nouns, self.

And what I mean is this: Reading a book first gives a person expectations to the max, even if they try not to have them. They want to uphold their beloved title. However, when a movie cuts things out, or makes changes for the sake of time or going in a different direction, then the person can't help but feel at least a bit disappointed.

Now, when a person sees the movie first, the book can only get better from there. What could have been disappointing cuts are now delightful additions that enrich the story.

103: I haven't read Naruto in a long time (RL pwned me for several months), but sadly I can only expect her to get the treatment pretty much every female character gets in fiction; she's being set up to fail. Male characters are supposed to overcome ridiculous odds, but for some reason female characters are not.

109: Since I don't think Lelouch had romantic feelings for anyone in the series (though he clearly loved several people in a platonic way) I didn't interpret his and C.C.'s relationship in a way that made me even consider them as a couple.

Also, I certainly wouldn't call her a Mary Sue! Most people didn't like her, she never outshone the main character, ad she didn't break the laws of the universe where the story takes place.

The only character acting like any type of cliché was Shirley, who ran into danger despite warnings, and the fact that she should have known that the only thing she could possibly add to the situation was another distraction for Lelouch. I mean, Code Geass was so good with its characters otherwise that I really didn't expect one of them to suddenly be reduced to a plot robot. Disappointing, but at least it was only that time.

121: You called One Piece shit? *brandishes sword* (j/k XD)

Wait, never mind, you don't like Soul Eater either? It's got homage to Twin Peaks and everything! You clearly have no taste at all (yes, I'm still kidding).

130: I Just... completely disagree. Slash is about writing characters IC, just like all fanfic. There is no damn standard of male gayness that dictates how they behave! What we must look at is how these specific characters behave, and make their relationships believable based on that.

146: catastrophic to whom? If it's yourself you're worried about, I think you're a damn coward, and even worse than "green". Sounds like "blue" would be a better friend in any case. What are you afraid of? Losing your bnf "connections"?

150: It's really hard to find variation among female characters, isn't it? You should check out Olivia Armstrong in Full Metal Alchemist; she's the only female character of her kind I've ever seen, and she's awesome. Also, Soul Eater is great when it comes to female characters; They're about half of the cast (amazing, I know), and one is even the main character. In a shônen adventure!

151: Why not write an original fic, then? Sounds like you're more invested in your OCs than the canon you planned to write for, so it would probably be a good idea, right?

158: I just think the storyline has become sillier and sillier, heh. Still very entertaining though! And I love Ciel's and Sebastian's voices. Ciel in particular is fantastic, but what else could you expect? It's Sakamoto Maaya. *besotted*

164: I thought Dean was the most popular in the fandom, and that most people disliked Sam? *is not in the fandom*

Re: 164

(Anonymous) 2009-04-03 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
164. It's been pretty evenly divided between Dean!girls and Sam!girls in the past. This season came with some awful plots, unfavorable characterization, a character to slash Dean with who isn't his brother, and in general a lot of new material for wank. Fandom's in the process of exploding. I'm not sure where all the pieces are going to land.

114. Furries get bashed way too hard. I've met some far nastier people in other fandoms, usually furries seem to be...really nice. I'm not sexually attracted to animals at all, but I would TOTALLY dress up as a dragon ^^

129. Lol I agree.

130. That's...I see your point, but your end line is just stupid. Slash is for EVERYONE, not JUST women and JUST men, even if women are more popular in the fandom.

THIS WAS THE GAME WITH THE MANTIS TOO WHAT WAS ITS NAME.

I played this game when I was a kid and it was wicked, seriously hard and crappy. But I loved it and drew fanart of it on lined paper in five subject notebooks. You are a little bit my hero, OP. Hahaha.

Re: 144.

The mantis' name was Venam. I remember I was really shocked when I read it's bio and found out it was female.

I wouldn't go as far as saying the fandom is non-existent, there is still a small cult-ish fandom out there that likes it. Maybe if there were more fics and fan art out there, then I think it would grow a bit...not by much, but hey you have to start somewhere.

lots to comment on

103. o_O Sounds like a personal problem to me.

108. :o Is she really good? I don't listen to much that comes out nowadays, but what's her music like? 8D;; I'm always up for some good booty-shaking pop!

109. This also sounds like a personal problem. Guys, can we remember that they're all just fictional characters?

110. OMFG, My mom said the same thing! "I love this commerical! He's SO HOT!" Bahahaha. <33

113. I have no problems with fans of Twilight as long as they realize it's nothing more than filler, fun, IQ-dropping escapism that isn't to be idolized.

117. ...You...might have a problem there. I kind of feel bad for your boyfriend...

125. LOL

134.
Man, I literally cried upon seeing it. I can't wait. I think it's going to be EPIC! 8D ♥

136. Is that...Emienem or wtfever?

148. Super Massive Blackhole? :3

150. I'm pretty sure you can be strong and still have kids. But, whatever.

152. Well I guess I'm going to hell because I just laughed at seeing that prompt LOL

154. IAWTC

157. :o I wonder too...

160. Couldn't get through the whole book. Ugh.

168. I kind of agree. I mean, there's some things in fics and art that really turn me on, but when I have sex, if any of those things were done to me, it'd be a quick turn off and I'd feel absolutely disgusted. Fantasy does not equal reality. But maybe it is different for some people, who knows? I only know what I know. =\

171. Who's that?

172. Here's a secret within the comments of a secret post:
I judge bands by how they look/dress.
Which means I have no desire to even listen to the band in your secret because they look really stupid to me.

doingitwrong - I'm conflicted on that! See, me and my friend want to go see it for the lulz, but I don't want to give money to the studio or anyone involved in that crap. :x It's tough!

170. Well, I personally am of the opinion that the whole "equally likely to end up with Cuddy, Cameron or Wilson" thing means he's not going to end up with any of them, not that he's going to end up with one of them. Having said massive spoiler occur to Wilson would add weight to that theory, so I'd have to be somewhat pleased.

It would still suck, though. He's the perfect foil to House. In a fucked up, codepent, bad relationship way.
