106. EW EW EW AND EW. I will gladly dance on any one of that familys graves(once they die of course, probably by being shot). If anyone in that family dies, I would happily fly to Kansas and celebrate while the funeral is underway. I don't think I'm wrong for it either. If that makes me the same as them, so be it.

112 But what about Boromir and Faramir? I mean, the subtext is there (plus, Boromir just loves those adorable hobbits!)

125 It sounds computerized...

129 He does have personality -- but he's a total dick.

130 That's okay as long as you are 100% okay with men having objectifying lesbian fantasies about women.

147 Sunrise likes killing off all of the loved characters
Yes, welcome to about 20 years ago.

150 So what makes you think she ended up a trophy wife just because she had a child and "settled down" to raise that child? If having and raising children was antifeminist, we wouldn't have any more feminists because no one would have children.

151 A lot of great characters start out as Mary-Sue-like until you flesh them out enough to become "real" characters. So if you stop writing, you'll never fully develop your characters at all. Besides, it's not like you have to share everything you write/produce with everyone right away.

169 You do know that the God in Battlestar Galactica as described as Gaius Baltar is, for all intents and purposes, pretty much exactly like the God that Jews believe in? Too bad you were too wrapped up in your fallacious idea of "Judeo-Christianity," as if such a thing exists (hint: Christians and Jews don't believe the same things).

109. You know, I'm not big fan of C.C - not a big fan of anyone in Geass - but BOY do you have it wrong with her. How about a 'I've been used my entire life, ever time I've trusted someone I've been lied to, the only people I've loved haven't ever loved me and if they did it was because I made them, I'm tired and I just want it to stop'? Does she have faults? SURE. But calling her a Sue? With all those flaws? For not mentioning the fact that she's not a Suddenly Inserted character, she has been there since the beginning, so she's not a Sue. And see, I could have agreed that yes, Lelouch wouldn't make anyone but Nunally empress. On the other hand. It's a design made by CLAMP. CLAMP does things to look pretty. It's a pretty fanart with no actual canon-meaning other than having two canon characters. It's no more canon than the X artbook where Kamui has bedroom eyes.

103 I didn't like it, but whatever. It's Kishi's story, not mine. I hope the suicide thing gets addressed, because she KNEW she couldn't win, but it was the only way she knew how to distract Pein from finishing off Naruto at that moment. (But now Naruto's life span has been like... *counts tails, number of times he's foxsploded...* uh, Naruto will be lucky to make it to his early thirties :/) I hope Neji finds Sakura and she heals her and then some hot yuri action oh god please pleaseeeee?.

104 Aslan ftw. Castiel... :/
Alsan made me feel safe as a child, even through a book. I guess it had something to do with religion, but I wasn't thinking about my faith in particular. Just that -a- God, something so powerful could be so caring and full of awesome was a comfort to me growing up. Joan of Arcadia ftw

119 I found her (and still Jack, therefore I thought them to be soul mates) annoying, but DAMN she got the short end of the stick. Lost writers are brutal at just picking off people.

129 I think it's not that he has no personality, it's that he rarely has serious (to some people) faults, and that makes him annoying or irritating. But they forget he's NOT human, he never will be, and what's zero personality to our perspective is forgetting he'll never have a genuine human personality that fits in. /ormaybei'mthinkingtoohard :C

157 Maybe they didn't know their parents and didn't have a surname?

129 No, you're not thinking too hard. Superman is an almost completely untouchable alien. Clark Kent tries to fit in and often realizes that he never really can while "Superman" stands in for all the parts of him that humans can't really understand.

102-I love him.

104-Actually, it makes a lot more sense to me, only because Lewis is putting across a whole system in Narnia, where as Castiel just says he's an angel and can't say anything about how God works, really. (Not that I'm putting down people who are inspired by Castiel.)

110-Yes. Especially the Stewie voice for some reason.

112-Maybe because the emphasis on size etc. makes it sometimes read like chan?

119-I was surprisingly happy when she showed up to talk to Hurley this season.

127-I remember how everybody would get annoyed at Peter already seeming evil in MWPP fanfics, and then in OotP it seemed like he kind of was. Not evil, but obviously a little bully and not part of a healthy friendship. That said, I like the character.

129-He does have a personality! Especially in the early years, sometimes he was insane. And a dick.

130-That's an easy answer, but is it okay to say that about anybody else? Like using a certain type of person as a symbol of what they represent just to somebody else's psyche? I mean, I do think slash is more about the sexuality of people writing it, and likewise I don't think it's wrong for guys to get off on lesbian porn. But "real men/women don't act like this" is valid.

139-Cool Hand Luke is awesome! I don't know where you live, but my local newsstation still uses some of the music from it as their theme. I was shocked when I finally saw it and realized that's what it's from, because it sounds like a newscast.

164-I think that would be such a bad bad bad idea for the show.

173-What a wretched relationship.

[identity profile] akai_senshi.livejournal.com 2009-04-02 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
103. So…a girl pulls a Heroic Sacrifice, and therefore she’s weak and annoying? WTF?

106. I saw it too. But I was convinced she was a closeted lesbian, and so…

130. Except the ones you’re slashing. Then it’s all about the men. (BTW- I’m actually doing a paper on yaoi, and comparing yaoi and bara. Very interesting stuff, in that gay men are making up for being gay via a m/m erotic narrative and straight women are making up for being women via the same narrative.) And I must be the “weird” gay guy, because I slash. Actually, I do m/m, m/f, AND f/f.

135. I would feel the same way were I you.

150. Because a female character can’t be strong unless she acts completely like a man. *eyeroll*

130. Ugh. You know what, do what makes you happy, whatever. But admitting that slash is not usually written with realism in mind and then acting like that's not a viable reason for people to be turned off by it is just fucking stupid. You are clearly in it for the porn. Other people are not. And guess what? Each option is completely okay, so stop acting like someone is trying to oppress your sexual liberation or something.

129 - I've never thought he had much of a personality, either.

130 - Lots of gay guys do seem to hate slash. I, myself, am not one of them. I really like slash, fine. But it's all romanticizing and it's not realistic most of the time. SO WHAT, IT'S FANTASY, isn't that the point anyway?

134 - Actually I really want to see that movie. I was like LAJSDKFHSDK when I heard it was being made.

140 - There are WAY worse things you could wish for, anon. :\

145 - I don't think it is either. :c

150 - It didn't make sense to me that she became a mother like that, either. I mean, seriously? What the hell okay.

157 - I don't wonder it ALL THE TIME but I admit that I do wonder about it. Or, rather - I did when I was in the fandom. I've been out of it for awhile now.

168 - I've never understand how fanfiction can ruin sex for virgins. HOW CAN SOMETHING YOU'VE NEVER DONE BE RUINED?

168

(Anonymous) 2009-04-02 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)

142. Me too! And I gave up playing soon after that because everything seemed kind of pointless without him there. Even when I couldn't find him, I liked knowing he was out there waiting for me...it made the world seem less lonely.

164. Uh-oh...

It is added to my Netflix queue. Thanks for the rec. :)

Paul Newman back in the day... looks AND class, the way I like it.

127. Yes! I really think he's one of the most interesting characters in the series. His motivations must have been way more complicated than a lot of people give him credit for, I think; you don't just turn your best friend and his family over to be killed on a whim. People tend to be really hard on traitors--for good reason, I guess, but I think it's a shame his character gets ignored because of that.

LOL.

Just because it is about women's psychology does not mean men do not matter and that it is okay to objectify a group of people for "sexual expression," especially if you are writing about that group. You would probably get your panties in a bunch about men writing lesbians and how unrealistic they can be. Neither are okay, and I think it's important to be realistic so people stop getting preconceived ideas about gay men and women, especially if it is a stereotype and otherwise, harmful.

Also, self-lubricating anuses and sticking a dick into an anus that needs prep? Not hot. I prefer it realistic, and no, there wouldn't be more shit. Real gay porn is a lot less exciting, imo, but the only "gross" factor is body hair (unless you go looking for browndicks).

You know... this really bothers me. Why is it not okay for people to be turned on by things that aren't realistic. Isn't it kind of sexually repressive to both men and women to deny the fact that certain senerios turn them on. I'd like to believe that most people are capable of telling fantasy from reality and know that those "hot lesbians" in porn aren't actually what real lesbians are like, and ditto "hot bishie guys" in BL and fanfic.

We can enjoy shoot outs and axe murderers without thinking it's a good thing to have bullets flying in the street and a psycho killer in the city.

Can't people enjoy a sexual fantasy without a guilt trip being attached to it? Must we always feel bad about our sexuality?

103. (Besides when he didn’t know who she was, did he show any kind of interest in her? I’m not usually interested in people I don’t know, therefore THIS ARGUMENT MUST BE PERFECT! lol

110. Seth MacFarlane is also a pretty good looking guy. I can understand.

114. I’d totally cosplay a dragon, but not to have sex with you. Dragons are just fucking amazing.

127. I agree. I mean, I’m not about to be dolling out the Peter love, but I hate when people bastardize him in the Marauder era.

136. That’s ‘cause Eminem is fucking awesome!

145. Hahahahaha! I’m sorry, I know this is a real secret, but oh man…

149. Lol!

157. They never tell us? I always assumed I forgot after I left the fandom.

107 You are a sad pathetic person. Stay in the closet and stay away from kids.

170 OMG NO. Seriously, why would you prefer it to be Wilson? I think the show is trying to give us a red herring in Taub and I think it will end up being Kutner and I really hope that doesn't happen. :( But if it has to be Wilson or Kutner, well. See ya, Kutner.

IAWTC...

you're absolutely right about 107... and i love kutner too, but to choose between him and wilson is not difficult at all :P

but you know, Waaka retired from Blitzball, too. After Sin died, the guardians weren't really necessary anymore, so she was out of a job anyhow.
