I took it as a metaphor for the ruling class holding onto their power for as long as possible regardless of consequences, and keeping the non-ruling folks fighting each other (being distracted and kept ignorant so no one realizes what's being done to them), the same folks the ruling class are also bleeding dry. Since the ruling class tends to ruin the world for future generations, making child soldiers fight each other for up to ten years and then die anyway seems fitting. But that's just me.

I thought Zeon's ascension quest made it clear that agriculture is a right pain in the ass.

I agree, actually. Yeah, from Silence's perspective, it looked horrible. But from Saria's perspective, she was doing what she could to save everyone--and it was, no doubt, an extremely difficult decision for her given that she also loves Ifrit.

While I don't think Silence was wrong, exactly, to react how she did, she also could've given Saria a bit more slack (especially given how they'd been getting to know each other).

I admit to always feeling sympathy for characters who are emotionally damaged and have difficulty expressing themselves and are rigid in mindset like Saria, but nevertheless... idk, it's a shitty situation for everyone involved, nobody was perfect, etc.

i do agree though that Themis does often show up as a tagalong to the Elpis crew while i don't think i've ever seen art of Eric with them(???). i also see a lot of Hermes solo art as well though and i've never seen him replaced in group art. i wouldn't put it past any fandom to do a racism, but it's not as if everyone is shunning Eric, there's a lot of love out there for him.

I think if you're looking for metaphor in the game, possession is a metaphor for drug addiction. The MC is a former heroin addict and it almost destroyed her. The suicidal depression is something she escaped when she cleaned her life up and remade herself. She's still struggling, but is clearly in a better place. All of the suicidal imagery is her past haunting her. There is a lot of drug use in my family, and demonic possession is an apt metaphor for the horrible things addicts do.
