I didn’t care one way or the other before seeing Maverick and my OH wanted to go so we went. It was ok. It was good for what it was meant to be. They could have at least tried to cast someone believable as Goose’s son though; instead the whole thing revolves on us pretending TG happened ten years later than it did. Not only was the actor born years after the first movie, his character was the same age as the actor. It bugged me enough that I ended up not liking the movie very much.

Oh wow VW Bus fandom! I have never had any interest in these but loads of my friends have through the years, mostly when I was younger. But one friend I’ve met in the last decade is a diehard fan and he’s converted a couple now. I never even knew there were T1s and T2s until I met him LOL He does a mix of restoration and conversion and sells most of them off to finance doing more. His wife (also a friend of mine) has a deal with him that he can’t have more than four vehicles total so he’s forever trying to get people in our club to buy them so he gets the chance to see them after selling them. I’ve been in a couple of his now and they’re absolutely gorgeous! I don’t know how I never fell in love with them.

Oh, I remember reading the two first books eons again and really liking them. I should get around to completing the series...

A really good series, that. I think one of the factors against it becoming a TV franchise is that you'd need a very well-trained wolf or a lot of computer graphics. (That, and a female lead, of course - though that's not as great a bar as it would have been when the books came out.)

The books stick in the mind - there's a massive sense of creeping chill that not many books pull off.

I watched from season 1 to I think 9 or 10? Whichever was the "Dear Chairman/Dear Director" saga and the immediate fallout with Church. I never cared about the agents, just the Blood Gulch bozos.

People who had covid and taste changes....

Have you successfully trained your taste buds back to normal? Covid ruined the taste (and smell) of peanut butter, coffee, roasted deli meats, and arugala. The peanut butter is the real loss since I used to eat PB&Js (plus various peanut based candies) all the time.

I've tried all the alternative nut butters but they are all just awful. Most are too wet or taste bland. So...I've been trying to eat peanut butter to train myself to enjoy it again. Results are mixed. I can eat peanut butter now but it still tastes sort of funky. Trying to convince my body this is how it always tasted.
