I know a few people have issues with the series. To each his own, I say. I mostly find this funny because me and my friends see ourselves in the characters here. Flandarized to ridiculous degrees, yes, but it's still more close to us than any sitcom I have watched so *shrug*.

I actually saw the creator of the show on Geek and Sundry recently and he does seem to be, like, a legit geek.

Which makes me even more confused because yeah, the show feels like it's pandering to geeks and the one episode of the show I saw I REALLY didn't like it.

It's kind of cute, but I don't get why it's always winning awards. The characters are amusing and a large part of that is the cast, but it's pretty cliche and predictable.

i agree, it's what CBS thinks nerds are, and they're the butt of the jokes usually, from what i've seen of the show at least.

the IT crowd however, is lovely.

Oh I find this showso boring. The jokes aren't funny, the plots don't interest me, and I just really do not see the appeal.

You aren't the only one that feels that way, I actually love this show and agree with everything you said, except about Penny, she and Bernadette are actually my favourites.

But, yeah, I kind of thought it was common knowledge that this show exists solely for "Normal" people to laugh at people with geekier interests.

My reaction was pretty much the same. Too heavily stereotyped, the jokes weren't funny, the characters were too cardboard for me to connect with.

I don't really like this show because it seems incapable of adding heart or more serious moments. I personally think a good TV show/sitcom is one that can focus on more sombre moment rather than just cheap laughs all the time.

It annoys me, amuses me occasionally and sometimes even draws me in. I think in general it's in that genre of comedies where people are supposed to be friends but are actually assholes to one another.

Despite everything I love Raj so much.

It's popular because it appeals to geeks but translates to people who aren't, as well. My mum likes it, but she gets none of the references.

I've only seen it once or twice and that was because a relative was watching it. I did get a few laughs out of it but I found everybody on it extremely annoying. And I didn't really want to ship anything, mostly for that reason.

Everyone I know who likes it (and that includes me) is a geeky science type. None of them have felt like it's making fun of them.

Wait, I like it and I really can't be bothered to find the unaired pilot. Why did you watch it if you don't like the show?

Penny is absolutely my favourite because the rest of them are not people I would like to spend any amount of time with (maybe Raj). I don't mind the show, but it's not great. It's definitely not something I feel fannish about.

I don't watch it anymore, but when I did, I did it because of the episode titles and I wanted to know how they were used in the show.

I don't find it funny anymore (I did laugh a few times during the first two seasons). Now I kinda hate it because my non-nerdy friends do watch it because they love to laugh at the geeks & nerds doing stupid things ("Oh ha ha, look at the stupid nerd!") in a very patronizing manner, even though they don't get half the science stuff.
The only thing I like about this show anymore are the actors.

And here was I thinking it made semi-"nerdy" people feel like they were superior because they understood the jokes...I find it sort of funny, but I don't go out of my way to watch it.

Same here. The only reason I tolerate the past two seasons is because I've fallen in love with Amy Farrah Fowler/Mayim Bialik and was surprised at how much I enjoyed the scenes between her, Penny, and Bernadette, but otherwise, this show bugs me because it's clear that a similar show about four moderately attractive/unattractive female nerds wouldn't have been given a second look. And the sexism is pretty gross, but it's a Chuck Lorre show, what did I expect.

And I agree, Sheldon treats Penny like a 5-year-old with a learning disability, I don't understand where all the shipping comes from. I do, however, have grown to find his relationship with Amy oddly charming and compelling, because it's so different from all the would-be romantic relationships on TV these days.

For a person who hates a show you certainly have a lot of opinions about it, including a ship. If I don't like a show I wouldn't get emotionally involved about it enough to form a ship.

Personally I think the show is sometimes funny. The thing I can't stand about it is how everyone is portrayed as sex starved and how having sex trumps everything. Sheldon not getting this is a running gag even though the guy should be firmly established as asexual by now.

My mother watches this show religiously, even the TNT reruns. (Like, we're on the phone and she's laughing hysterically at all these terrible jokes and I'm like "WOMAN I'M YOUR CHILD PAY ATTENTION TO ME" and she's like "BUT, SHELDON.....")

Anyway, as a result of her love, I've seen far more episodes of this show than I care for, and can I just say that Howard and Amy Farrah Fowler are fucking creepy ass creepers and they are the main reason I can't just sit there and enjoy the half an hour of mindless 'comedy'.

Also, there is no way in hell Bernadette would marry a pathetic douche like Howard Wolowitz.
