I would think percentages would work better as a judgement basis, honestly. Any kink meme that's big enough is bound to have 5 femslash fills, 5 non-sexual fills, etc.

I decide whether kink memes are worth it based on the content of the prompts myself. Too much not-my-kink, and I'm outta there. :)

I actually find your fellatio/cunnilingus quota pretty lenient, LOL - but that might be cause in my fandoms I feel like I've come across the ratio almost being the opposite. Maybe specifically on the kink memes it's different.

For kink memes, I feel like cunnilingus is way more prevalent than fellatio in m/f fills. I don't think I've ever seen a fandom where this wasn't the case.

This makes sense to me, and I don't really get why everyone's so hostile (Failure of #1 in particular is often a sign of a fandom it's really, REALLY better not to get involved in.)

Sounds like a great timesaver! Fandoms are the hugest timesuck; better not to waste your time if you know you have specific issues. Heck, I do this with the first paragraphs of stories; if your prose doesn't get me right away, I'm out.

Seems reasonable to me, if complicated. You can tell quite a bit about a fandom from its kink meme, if it has an active one. Me, I just avoid the ones where people are always fighting.

And I don't think I'll ever understand the entire "rules = bad" thing that this thread has going on, nor do I understand the "numbers = no fun." I personally use numbers/rules to make decisions too, and not just in fandom circumstances; it's more organized that way, and that's the way I like it.

Sorry if numbers people are keeping all you "free spirits" down.

Eh. I would think that the kinkmeme would usually have some of the nastier kinks since it's a largely anonymous place and people feel more relaxed about admitting their fetishes there, thus not really being a great place to judge the whole fandom with.

I judge fandoms by their kink memes as well:

1) Can they keep them going or do they die off due to too many strangulating rules

2) Are all pairings treated equally in the eyes of the meme, or are less popular pairings shoved off onto a different (ignored) page.

3) Is the reaction to crack prompts to have multiple fills, no fills, or cries of troll

4) Do people see squicky kinks as an amusing challenge or a disgusting turn off.

5) Are AU's and crossovers enthusiastically filled or ignored.

6) Is kink-shaming discouraged or allowed.

If a fandom is unwelcoming to people with unusual kinks and tastes, or is easily offended and generally takes itself too seriously, I avoid it. Fandoms that encourage variety generally are full of enthusiasm and fun and joy. Those that spend most of their time complaining about elements they don't like are usually miserable and aggravating and full of cliques.

TL;DR -- the OP is avoiding the fandoms I like best, and I'm totally okay with that.

Cunnilingus is the one thing that makes me go NOPE and automatically quit a fic. Too much of it in any fandom is a deal breaker. Ugh... slimy.
