I guess I just don't understand WHY you would want to though...

Also, their antagonists (Gus, Victoria) are more likable than they are.

Not OP

Length and breadth is a big issue. A newbie to DC or Marvel's huge universes, or to a manga with 500+ chapters like One Piece, I seriously would not blame them very much if they have no time

I'm the same way. Want to like Emma but hated her character in How I Met Your Mother.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
or the huge long asstangle that is homestuck

I haven't watched Breaking Bad so I can't really comment there, but the latest episode of Revenge seems to me to be a major tipping point for how I'll see Emily going forward: I mean she reacted to [Major Spoiler Regarding Amanda] as if she truly did care about her and seriously regretted everything she'd put her through, which is good, but if she continues to drag her into all of her REVENGE!!! shenanigans after all this, it'll definitely look bad for her. She had a similar reaction when everything she did got Lydia thrown off a building, for instance, but it was kind of a different situation and she had no where near the same connection to her, so when she went back to REVENGE-ing it wasn't as bad.

Stay safe!

Gus is Walt without the moral conflict. Like Walt at least feel some degree of remorse if he does something heinous, whereas Gus is more cold, clinical and sociopathic.

Kind of baffled that people think he's the "better" person (although both are pretty horrible people).

It took me a while to overlook her House character too. There are moments where suddenly I want to throw something at my television and bean "Cameron" on her head and then I remember that it's Emma and she's okay. LOL

Some shows are either incredibly hard to find in watchable quality or/and too long winded for the time I'd want to dedicate watching them, so I can understand a little why someone would want to have fun with some characters they liked on sight.

That being said, I'm not sure what's with this OP's waspish tone. Wasn't there a better way to write it down, I wonder? >>

comics I can understand, but not TV shows. Unless you're talking about Dr Who I guess... but I get the feeling from the secret that OP has never seen an episode of the show they're in the fandom for, which seems strange to me.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

I don't know if I'd say it's "worse," but... I'd rather deal with someone who is sociopathic and completely without morals than someone who tries to justify what he does, while both of them do the same things.
masu_trout: Delicious. ((PS) Problem Sleuth *Shuffle*)

The OP is specifically talking about TV shows, though. Which, I mean, you certainly don't have to watch it all, but I guess I just don't understand what would motivate a person to be fannish about a show they haven't even seen at least a couple of episodes for.

Well, I only saw an hour of Sherlock because some friends, both real-life and fandom, went on incessantly about it. But I realized I loved the people in fandom, and I loved their character interpretations, so if it weren't for them, I wouldn't have started watching Sherlock. And I still haven't seen any Marvel movies outside of youtube clips, but I only sought those out because the fandom was so nice. Nearly everything I'm a fan of, I became a fan because I loved the fandom first. I'm not the OP, and this is just my story, but it's a pretty good reason, I think.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
The poster I responded to didn't get "why anybody would want to" and the reasons for both shows and something like the extended Marvel multiverse are the same.

Replace the comment with any show that has 6/7+ seasons and branch-off series, then. SPN. Buffy/Angel. Star Trek and on. That is a lot of time

I had something against his ears when I first started watching the show but thankfully I seem to have mostly gotten over it.

*pats back*

I have that same reaction when it comes to Tom Hiddleston.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Gus was trying to avenge his boyfriend's murder.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
No offense to western comics fans, but YES your assumption is correct: cohesive stories, etc... basically, long term consistency and continuity is SADLY lacking. Do what I do: pick up the good stuff after that storyline is complete and ignore the rest.
